Abstract Aim: This paper reports the first estimation of an SF-6D value set based on the SF-12 for Spain.
Methods: A representative sample (n = 1020) of the Spanish general population valued a selection of 56 hypothetical SF-6D health states by means of a probability lottery equivalent (PLE) method. The value set was derived using both random effects and mean models estimated by ordinary least squares (OLS). The best model was chosen on the basis of its predictive ability assessed in terms of mean absolute error (MAE).
Results: The model yielding the lowest MAE (0.075) was that based on main effects using OLS. Pain was the most significant dimension in predicting health state severity. Comparison with the previous SF-6D (SF-36) model estimated for Spain revealed no significant differences, with a similar MAE (0.081). Nevertheless, the new SF-6D (SF-12) model predicted higher utilities than those generated by the SF-6D (SF-36) scoring algorithm (minimum value - 0.071 vs - 0.357).
Conclusion: A value set for the SF-6D (SF-12) based on Spanish general population preferences elicited by means of a PLE technique is successfully estimated. The new estimated SF-6D (SF-12) preference-based measure provides a valuable tool for researchers and policymakers to assess the cost-effectiveness of new health technologies in Spain.

Abstract Bike fitting aims to optimize riders' positions to improve their performance and reduce the risk of injury. To calculate joint angles, the location of the joint centers of the lower limbs needs to be identified. However, one of the greatest difficulties is the location of the hip joint center due to the frequent occlusion of the anterior superior iliac spine markers. Therefore, the objective of this study was to validate a biomechanical model adapted to cycling (modified pelvic model, MPM), based on the traditional pelvic model (TPM) with an additional lateral technical marker placed on the iliac crests. MPM was also compared with a widely used model in cycling, trochanter model (TM). Thirty-one recreational cyclists pedaled on a roller bike while the movement was captured with a 7-camera VICON system. The position of the hip joint center and knee angle were calculated and compared with the TPM continuously (along 10 pedaling cycles) and discreetly at 90° and 180° crank positions. No significant differences were found in the position of the hip joint center or in the knee flexion/extension angle between the TPM and the MPM. However, there are differences between TPM and TM (variations between 4.1° and 6.9° in favor of the TM at 90° and 180°; P < .001). Bland-Altman graphs comparing the models show an average difference or bias close to 0° (limits of agreement [0.2 to -8.5]) between TPM and MPM in both lower limbs and a mean difference of between -4° and -7° (limits of agreement [-0.6 to -13.2]) when comparing TPM and TM. Given the results, the new cycling pelvic model has proven to be valid compared with the TPM when performing bike fitting studies, with the advantage that the occluded markers are avoided. Despite its simplicity, the TM presents measurement errors that may be relevant when making diagnoses, which makes its usefulness questionable.

Abstract A healthy 6-month-old girl presented with plantar keratoderma-like lesions unresponsive to topical corticosteroids. Nocturnal pruritus in 13 relatives, presence of burrows on clinical exam, and the positive scabies preparation led to the diagnosis of crusted scabies. She was successfully treated with topical and oral scabicides. Crusted scabies is a severe form of Sarcoptes scabiei infection uncommon in immunocompetent subjects, in whom previous corticosteroid use may favor its occurrence.

Abstract The minimally invasive approach (MIS) is undoubtedly one of the most important breakthroughs in surgery in recent decades. Consequently, MIS has been increasingly in the field of liver transplantation (LT). The objective of the present review was to determine the current status of MIS with respect to liver transplantation (LT) and what would be the indications for an MIS in this context today. The literature was searched for publications reporting the MIS in LT. Only those articles that described the results according to whether the MIS had been performed to treat transplant complications (urgent or late), another pathology not related to the LT, or to perform the liver explantation and graft implantation were included. From 2000 to 2022, 33 studies and 261 patients were included. Most frequent indications were incisional hernias secondary to LT followed by the treatment of other pathologies not related with the LT and treatment of LT complications. Only a 12% were urgent interventions. Few studies describe conversions with an average rate of 2.5%. Morbidity do not differ significantly from open surgery. No case of mortality or graft loss was described. Purely laparoscopic liver explants in 9 patients with 2 conversions and 3 cases of graft implantation with a higher warm ischemia in the MIS implants grafts were described. The limitations of MIS in LT are relative and probably depend more on training, experience, and skills of the surgeons. This approach could be safety and feasibility to solved complications or in other individualized indications in LT patients. The initial experiences in liver explant and graft implantation need further investigations.

Abstract Minimally invasive surgery in orthognathic surgery has gained popularity in recent years. This is mainly due to the benefit to the patient of achieving a better postoperative period and a faster recovery. However, one of the main difficulties is the lack of direct vision, which is a concern for the surgeon. For this reason, this technical note aims to propose endoscopically assisted LeFort I osteotomy for MI orthognathic surgery.

Abstract Dithiocarbamate Fungicides (DTFs) are widely analyzed and studied mainly due to the fact that they play an important role in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables. This manuscript aims to display the results of a bibliometric analysis based on the Web of Science© database, performed in the DTF and food research area. A total of 374 publications were examined. The most scientific production was concentrated between 2012 and 2021, showing a decrease of 32% over the last two years. The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, India, and Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology were the most productive journal, country, and institution, respectively. Reference Publication Year Spectroscopy index showed a decrease of 95% in the last last years studied. Finally, current and future trends should focus on keywords such as individual DTF (Mancozeb, Thiram and Maneb), metabolites (Ethylenethiourea, Propilenthiourea) and a change in the analysis methodology: HPLC versus traditional GC.
