    Abstract The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of _{Λ}^{3}H in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity interval -1<y<0 for the 40% highest-multiplicity <mark>p-Pb collisions is dN/dy=[6.3±1.8(stat)±1.2(syst)]×10^{-7}. The measurement is compared with the expectations of statistical hadronization and coalescence models, which describe the nucleosynthesis in hadronic collisions. These two models predict very different yields of the hypertriton in charged particle multiplicity environments relevant to small collision systems such as p-Pb, and therefore the measurement of dN/dy is crucial to distinguish between them. The precision of this measurement leads to the exclusion with a significance larger than 6.9σ of some configurations of the statistical hadronization model, thus constraining the theory behind the production of loosely bound states at hadron colliders.

    Abstract The cross section for prompt antiproton production in collisions of protons with an energy of 6.5 TeV incident on helium nuclei at rest is measured with the LHCb experiment from a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.5  nb^{-1}. The target is provided by injecting helium gas into the LHC beam line at the LHCb interaction point. The reported results, covering antiproton momenta between 12 and 110  GeV/c, represent the first direct determination of the antiproton production cross section in p-He collisions, and impact the interpretation of recent results on antiproton cosmic rays from space-borne experiments.

    Abstract Background: Protein S (PS) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein, and the deficiency of PS increases the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). PS deficiency has been found in 1.5-7% of selected groups of thrombophilic patients. However, the reported PS deficiency patients with portal vein thrombosis are scarce.
    Case report and results: Our case described a 60-year-old male patient presented portal vein thrombosis with protein S deficiency. Imaging findings of the patient revealed extensive thrombosis involving the portal vein and superior mesenteric vein. His medical history revealed lower extremity venous thrombosis 10 years ago. The level of PS activity was greatly reduced (14%, reference: 55-130%). Acquired thrombophilia caused by antiphospholipid syndrome, hyperhomocysteinemia, or malignancy were excluded. Whole exome sequencing revealed a heterozygous missense variation c.1574C>T, p.Ala525Val in the PROS1 gene. The in-silico analysis of the variant was performed by SIFT and PolyPhen-2. The results showed that the variant is a pathogenic and likely pathogenic variation respectively (SIFT, -3.404; PolyPhen-2, 0.892), the amino acid substitution A525V is presumed to result in unstable PS protein which is degraded intracellularly. Mutation site of the proband and his family members was validated by Sanger sequencing.
    Conclusion: According to the clinical manifestation, imaging findings, protein S level, and the genetic results, a diagnosis of portal vein thrombosis with PS deficiency was made. To the best of our knowledge, our case is the second reported PS deficiency patient caused by PROS1 c.1574C>T, p.Ala525Val variant in Asia, and the case is also the only reported case with PROS1 c.1574C>T, p.Ala525Val variant presents portal vein thrombosis.

    Abstract The prompt production of the charm baryon Λ_{c}^{+} and the Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} production ratios were measured at midrapidity with the ALICE detector in pp and p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV. These new measurements show a clear decrease of the Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} ratio with increasing transverse momentum (p_{T}) in both collision systems in the range 2<p_{T}<12  GeV/c, exhibiting similarities with the light-flavor baryon-to-meson ratios p/π and Λ/K_{S}^{0}. At low p_{T}, predictions that include additional color-reconnection mechanisms beyond the leading-color approximation, assume the existence of additional higher-mass charm-baryon states, or include hadronization via coalescence can describe the data, while predictions driven by charm-quark fragmentation processes measured in e^{+}e^{-} and e^{-}p collisions significantly underestimate the data. The results presented in this Letter provide significant evidence that the established assumption of universality (colliding-system independence) of parton-to-hadron fragmentation is not sufficient to describe charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions at LHC energies.

    Abstract Polar oxides are widely used as the cathodes to impede the shuttle effect in lithium-sulfur batteries, but suffer from the sluggish desorption and conversion of polysulfides due to too strong affinity of polysulfides on oxygen sites. Herein, employing halloysite as a model, an approach to overcome these shortcomings is proposed via engineering oxygen p-band center by loading titanium dioxide nanoparticles onto Si-O surface of halloysite. Using density functional theory calculations, it is predicted that electron transfer from titanium dioxide nanoparticles to interfacial O sites results in downshift of p-band center of O sites that promote desorption of polysulfides and the cleavage of Li-S and S-S, accelerating the conversion kinetics of polysulfides. The designed composite cathode material delivers outstanding electrochemical performance in Li-S batteries, outperforming the recently reported similar cathodes. The concept could provide valuable insight into the design of other catalysts for Li-S batteries and beyond.

    Abstract We report first measurements of e^{+}e^{-} pair production in the mass region 0.4<M_{ee}<2.6  GeV/c^{2} at low transverse momentum (<mark>p_{T}<0.15  GeV/c) in noncentral Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200  GeV and U+U collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=193  GeV. Significant enhancement factors, expressed as ratios of data over known hadronic contributions, are observed in the 40%-80% centrality of these collisions. The excess yields peak distinctly at low p_{T} with a width (sqrt[⟨p_{T}^{2}⟩]) between 40 and 60  MeV/c. The absolute cross section of the excess depends weakly on centrality, while those from a theoretical model calculation incorporating an in-medium broadened ρ spectral function and radiation from a quark gluon plasma or hadronic cocktail contributions increase dramatically with an increasing number of participant nucleons. Model calculations of photon-photon interactions generated by the initial projectile and target nuclei describe the observed excess yields but fail to reproduce the p_{T}^{2} distributions.

    Abstract Despite many studies on single doping (especially N, S) to improve the catalytic performance of biochar in persulfate-based oxidation process (PS-AOP), the investigations of co-doping with multiple heteroatoms for biochar are relatively few. Herein, choosing shrimp shell biochar (NSC-bio, natural N,S co-doped) as research object with exogenous P/S doping, N,S co-doped and N,S,P co-doped biochars were prepared and applied in PS-AOP, respectively. Exogenous S doping (NSC–S-bio) showed a negative effect with the decreased removal efficiency from 88.7% to 45.7%. Quantitative structure-activity relationships analysis showed that, the decreased kₒbₛ (0.0692–0.0171 min⁻¹) of NSC-S-bio was linearly related to the decreased Qe (229.0–158.7 mg/g), where the increased electrostatic repulsion during the key catalytic zone by S doping was the key factor. As for NSC-P-bio, a positive effect could be observed (98.9% removal). The increased kₒbₛ (0.0692–0.1299 min⁻¹) showed high linear fitting toward P content and specific surface area (449.4–971.6 m²/g) but low fitting degree toward Qe. Further electrochemical characterization revealed that, the increased surface catalytic sites and enhanced electronic conductivity endowed NSC-P-bio improved catalytic performance, which achieved rapid activation of PDS via non-radical electron transfer path and showed selectively toward substrate with electron-donating groups. This study provides new insight for the construction of efficient co-doped biochar catalysts in PS-AOP.

    Abstract Objective: The original S.O.L.V.E. scoring system was modified using virtual reality technology, and a new H.L.P.E.S scoring system was constructed to improve the accuracy of predicting the stone-free rate after flexible ureteroscopy.
    Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical and virtual reality data of 150 patients with renal calculi who underwent flexible ureteroscopy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China, from September 2019 to January 2022. Factors affecting the stone-free rate were evaluated in univariate and multiple logical regression analyses. Factors were divided by cut-off value under the receiver-operating characteristic curve and scored accordingly to a well-known international scoring system. Area under the curve predicted the stone-free rate. The accuracy and superiority of the stone-free rate after flexible ureterorenoscopy was compared between this scoring system and the S.O.L.V.E, R.I.R.S, T.O.HO, and RUSS scores.
    Results: Multiple logistic regression showed that the stone surface area, renal pelvis volume, and length of the calyces funnel were correlated with stone-free rate (P < 0.01, P = 0.021, P = 0.019, respectively). The H.L.P.E.S. score included stone surface area (1-2 points), renal pelvis volume (1-2 points), length of calyces funnel (1-2 points), pelvic calyceal height (1-2 points), and essence of stone (1-2 points). The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve of H.L.P.E.S. score was 0.927, which was higher than the S.O.L.V.E., R.I.R.S., T.O.HO, and RUSS scores.
    Conclusion: H.L.P.E.S. scoring can effectively predict the stone-free rate after flexible ureteroscopy for renal calculi and is superior to other scoring systems.

    Abstract We report the observation of transverse polarization-dependent azimuthal correlations in charged pion pair production with the STAR experiment in p^{↑}+p collisions at RHIC. These correlations directly probe quark transversity distributions. We measure signals in excess of 5 standard deviations at high transverse momenta, at high pseudorapidities η>0.5, and for pair masses around the mass of the ρ meson. This is the first direct transversity measurement in p+p collisions.
