    Results: MAC
Conclusions: Medication with a cannabinoid for 21 days augmented the MAC of isoflurane. The sparing effect of morphine on isoflurane is lower in rats constantly medicated with a cannabinoid. The sparing effect of dexmedetomidine on the minimum alveolar concentration of isoflurane is greater in rats repeatedly medicated with a cannabinoid.

Abstract The phytopathogenic fungus Ustilago maydis causes corn smut by suppressing host plant defenses, including the oxidative burst response. While many studies have investigated how U. maydis responds to oxidative stress during infection, the consequences of heightened resistance to oxidative stress on virulence remain understudied. This study aimed to identify the effects on virulence in U. maydis strains exhibiting enhanced resistance to hydrogen peroxide (H

This article seeks to reflect on the need to create repositories of information on artistic practice in a non-central space within the art world in Mexico and Latin America, based on open source technology and digital resources. Our work analize the creation of the “Sistema de Información de la Práctica Artística en San Luis Potosí, México” and the “Centro de Documentación Artística Jesús Ramos Frías”. This case study will allow to understand the relevance of centers located in peripheral locations within the great global south. Our aproach is based on the hypothesis that the existence of documentary repositories is essential for the knowledge, research and dissemination of artistic heritage, and a fundamental part of artistic practice education. Abstract Rosai Dorfman Destombes (RDD) disease is a non-Langerhans histiocytosis. The central nervous system is affected in < 5% of cases. We report the case of a 59-year-old man, who began 8 months before admission with headache, diminished visual acuity in the temporal hemifields, hyposmia, and seizures. Magnetic resonance imaging showed three midline skull-base lesions in anterior, media, and posterior fossae. We performed a complete resection of symptomatic lesions using a bifrontal craniotomy. The histopathological analysis determined RDD, therefore, we started steroid treatment. Our case description is due to the diagnosis and location, one of the rarest reported to date in the literature.

Abstract Anti-microbial peptides play a vital role in the defense mechanisms of various organisms performing functions that range from the elimination of microorganisms, through diverse mechanisms, to the modulation of the immune response, providing protection to the host. Among these peptides, cathelicidins, a well-studied family of anti-microbial peptides, are found in various animal species, including reptiles. Due to the rise in anti-microbial resistance, these compounds have been suggested as potential candidates for developing new drugs. In this study, we identified and characterized a cathelicidin-like peptide called Aquiluscidin (Aq-CATH) from transcripts obtained from the skin and oral mucosa of the Querétaro's dark rattlesnake,

Abstract This study investigates the immediate effects of acute postural exercises on the stature of seniors, focusing on changes in both upright and supine stature measurements. A within-subject design with repeated measures was applied, involving seniors participating in continuous exercises aimed at enhancing core musculature strength and promoting muscle relaxation. Stature measurements were recorded pre- and post-exercise in both upright and supine positions, alongside assessments of body mass index (BMI) category classifications. The results revealed a post-exercise increase in stature ranging from 0.9 to 6.0 cm and from 0.2 to 7.2 cm in upright and supine positions, respectively, with an average increase of approximately 3.5 cm in both upright and supine positions. Statistically significant and clinically relevant changes were observed (

Abstract Background: Choosing adequate topical antimicrobial agents in burn patients still represents a challenge. Therefore, this systematic review was conducted to compile and evaluate current recommendations in international clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) to develop more consistent clinical guidance.
Methods: A systematic search for CPGs was conducted independently by two reviewers using PubMed, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and external citations. The quality of the selected CPGs was evaluated separately using the AGREE II instrument, and intraclass correlation coefficients were calculated. Statistical analysis was performed using R V 1.4.1 statistical software.
Results: Eleven CPGs were included in the study. Most guidelines tend to recommend silver-containing dressings over antiseptics or antibiotics, regardless of the depth of the burn. Silver sulfadiazine is the most recommended topical antimicrobial in low-resource settings. An overall mean appraisal AGREE II score of 68.2% was obtained. The global intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.62 (95% confidence intervals 0.54-0.69), which corresponds to a substantial global concordance between both appraisers.
Conclusions: Great heterogeneity was found between recommendations and CPGs. The three determining factors considered to issue a recommendation were the clinical scenario, burn-wound depth, and burn severity. There is consensus among the guidelines to use topical antimicrobials as a tool to prevent infection, and most of these recommend the use of silver-containing dressings for most scenarios. However, there is currently no ideal topical antimicrobial agent that can be recommended for all clinical scenarios. The development of more consistent recommendations is warranted to standardize clinical practice.
