Abstract This study conducts a rapid health technology assessment to systematically evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of Cerebrolysin as an adjunctive therapy for acute ischemic stroke to provide evidence-based medicine for clinical decisions of Cerebrolysin. All systematic reviews/meta-analyses, pharmacoeconomic studies, and health technology assessment reports of Cerebrolysin for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke before August 17, 2023, were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, Weipu, Sinomed database and the official website of health technology assessment. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 2 researchers independently carried out screening, data extraction, and quality evaluation and descriptively analyzed the results of the included studies. A total of 14 pieces of literature were incorporated, comprising 8 systematic reviews/meta-analyses and 6 pharmacoeconomic studies. In terms of effectiveness, compared to control groups, the use of Cerebrolysin as a treatment for acute ischemic stroke demonstrates certain advantages, including enhancement in total efficacy rate, neurological function, upper limb motor dysfunction, and facilitation of the recovery of activities of daily living. Especially in patients with moderate to severe acute ischemic stroke, Cerebrolysin has demonstrated the ability to enhance neurological function recovery and ameliorate disabilities. Regarding safety, adverse reactions were mild or comparable to those in the control group. The primary findings of economic studies reveal that advocating for the use of Cerebrolysin offers certain cost-effectiveness advantages. Cerebrolysin contributes to improved clinical efficacy and evaluation indexes while demonstrating favorable safety and economic benefits.

Abstract Recently, the WHO-5 and the ICC 2022 criteria have emphasized poor prognosis in AML/MDS patients with multi-hit TP53 mutations, whereas mutated TP53 plays a critical role in tumorigenesis, drawing substantial interest in exploring its biological behaviors. Diverse characteristics of TP53 mutations, including types, VAF, CNVs, allelic status, karyotypes, and concurrent mutations have been extensively studied. Novel potential targets and comprehensive treatment strategies nowadays are under swift development, owing to great advances in technology. However, accurately predicting prognosis of patients with TP53-mutated myeloid neoplasms remains challenging. And there is still a lack of effective treatment for those patients.

Abstract We hypothesis that Rho kinase inhibitor fasudil ameliorates osteoporosis following myocardial infarction (MI) by regulating cardiac calcitonin secretion. A mice model of MI and cultured neonatal cardiomyocytes exposed to hypoxia and serum deprivation (H/SD), and fibroblasts exposed to TGF-β were used, respectively. Cardiac function in vivo was assessed with echocardiography. Osteoporosis in vivo was assessed with X-ray and micro-CT. In vivo and in vitro studies used histological and immunohistochemical techniques, along with western blots. In mice post-MI, fasudil ameliorates the microstructure and bone metabolism of the lumbar, improved cardiac function, and attenuated myocardial fibrosis. In vitro, fasudil or αCGRP could effectively inhibit the proliferation of primary fibroblasts treated with TGF-β. Moreover, fasudil ameliorates the cardiac calcitonin secretion induced by MI in vivo or by H/SD in vitro. Our findings suggest that fasudil improved MI-induced osteoporosis by promoting cardiac secreting calcitonin.

Abstract Lignin is one of the major macromolecule in nature that contains an aromatic ring structure, and also a potential source of high-value products such as biofuels and chemicals. However, Lignin is a kind of complex heterogeneous polymer which can produce many degradation products during processing or treatment. These degradation products are difficult to separate, making it challenging to use lignin directly for high-value applications. This study proposes an electrocatalytic method to degrade lignin by using allyl halides to induce double-bonded phenolic monomers, while avoiding separation. In an alkaline solution, the three basic structural units (G, S, and H) of lignin were transformed into phenolic monomers by introducing allyl halide, which could effectively expand lignin application space. This reaction was achieved using a Pb/PbO

This reaction was achieved using a Pb/PbO₂ electrode as the anode and copper as the cathode. It was further confirmed that double-bonded phenolic monomers were obtained by degradation. 3-allylbromide has more active allyl radicals and significantly higher product yields than 3-allylchloride. The yields of 4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol, 4-allyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenol and 2-allylphenol could reach 17.21 g/kg-lignin, 7.75 g/kg-lignin, and 0.67 g/kg-lignin respectively. These mixed double-bond monomers can be used as monomer materials for in-situ polymerization without further separation, which lays the foundation for high value-added applications of lignin.

Abstract The present study reports a rare case of synchronous colorectal mucinous adenocarcinoma (CMAC) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). A 61-year-old man complained of hematochezia for half a month. Colonoscopy and biopsy in a local hospital revealed mucinous adenocarcinoma in the sigmoid colon, and a subsequent abdominal computed tomography examination in Ren Ji Hospital (Shanghai, China) identified an unexpectedly hypovascular lesion in the body and tail of the pancreas, in addition to a mass in the colon. The patient then underwent combined surgery consisting of a distal pancreaticosplenectomy and a sigmoidectomy, and the postoperative pathological tests confirmed the co-occurrence of CMAC and PDAC. Next-generation sequencing demonstrated no deleterious germline mutations, but did find some critical somatic mutations concerning both tumors. The patient received 12 cycles of a combination of 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan and oxaliplatin (modified FOLFIRINOX regimen) as adjuvant chemotherapy thereafter. Complete remission was achieved at 1 year after the surgery. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first documented case of such synchronous malignances (CMAC and PDAC) in the literature, and its publication therefore improves our overall understanding in this field.

Abstract Abstract This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of cisplatin and nedaplatin in three-week doublet agent concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC). We retrospectively enrolled patients with stage IIB-IIIC2 cervical cancer who received doublet agent CCRT from January 2015 to December 2020. Clinical outcomes were analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier method and a Cox proportional hazards model. Propensity score (PS) matching analysis was used to compare cisplatin plus docetaxel group and nedaplatin plus docetaxel group. A total of 295 patients were included. The 5-year overall survival rate (OS) and progression free survival rate (PFS) were 82.5% and 80.4%, respectively. After PS matching, there were 83 patients each in the nedaplatin group and cisplatin group. There were no significant differences in objective response rates (97.6% and 98.8%, p = 0.212), 5-year OS rate (96.5 vs 69.8, p = 0.066), PFS rate (90.8 vs 72.4, p = 0.166), and toxicity between the two groups. Doublet agent concurrent chemoradiotherapy is feasible, safe, and shows high efficacy in LACC patients. Here, cisplatin group has a trend of better prognosis, suggesting that cisplatin is preferred and nedaplatin can be considered for replacement when cisplatin is intolerant.

Abstract Electrospun nanofiber separators have excellent properties in terms of large surface area and high porosity, which benefits the rate capability, electrochemical stability, and safety performance of lithium-ion batteries. Herein, a 0°PAN/PVDF/90°PAN-oriented composite nanofiber separator is prepared, which is prepared layer by layer by electrospinning technology and drum orientation collector. The results show that when the rotating speed of the drum is 600 r min⁻¹, the 0°PAN/PVDF/90°PAN-oriented composite nanofiber separator has high porosity (about 85%), improved transverse and longitudinal tensile properties (10.33 MPa and 11.03 MPa, respectively), good dimensional stability at 160°C, and good electrochemical performance (specific charge capacity of 165 mAh g⁻¹ at 0.5C and 142.7 mAh g⁻¹ at 1C, capacity retention of 90% after 100 cycles).
