Abstract A good tooth cusp extraction is helpful in evaluating the effect of cosmetic dental work in virtual tooth surgery. We propose a new tooth cusp extraction, which integrates the DBSCAN (density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise) clustering algorithm with the neighborhood search algorithm to extract tooth cusp from a three-dimensional cloud-point tooth model. This method used the point cloud height and curvature to screen out the dented point set. Then we employ the DBSCAN clustering algorithm to segment different feature regions of the tooth surface and generate the candidate point set. Finally, the candidate point set was accurately located at the tooth apex through the neighborhood search algorithm and the traversal search method of non-maximum suppression. The experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the traditional watershed algorithm-based methods by calculating the recall rate and accuracy rate, and also has higher extraction speed and extraction precision than manual extraction methods.

Abstract Plant extracts are rich in a variety of nutrients and contain a large number of bioactive compounds, and compared with traditional feed additives, they have advantages such as wide sources, natural safety and rich nutrition. This study employed in vitro antioxidant and animal experiments to comprehensively evaluate the use of Toona sinensis extract (TSE) in broiler production. 508 1-day-old Cobb 500 broilers were randomly assigned to the 7 experimental groups with 6 replications and 12 birds/replicate. Two groups received Vitamin C (VC) 300 g/t and Vitamin E 500 g/t, and five dose groups of TSE received 0, 300, 600, 900, and 1,200 g/t of TSE in their feed. The study spanned 42 days, with a starter phase (1–21 days) and a finisher phase (22–42 days). The results showed that compared to ascorbic acid, TSE had the scavenging ability of 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and hydroxyl radical, with IC50 values of 0.6658 mg/mL and 33.1298 mg/mL, respectively. Compared to TSE 0 group, broilers fed with 1,200 g/t TSE showed significant weight gain during the starter phase and increased the feed-to-weight gain ratio during both the starter and finisher phases. Additionally, broilers receiving 1,200 g/t TSE had enhanced dry matter and organic matter utilization. Concerning meat quality, broilers in the 1,200 g/t TSE group demonstrated increased cooked meat yield, and pH value, as well as higher antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) in serum. In addition, there was no significant difference in ileal microflora due to TSE supplementation. In summary, this study confirms the positive impact of a dietary inclusion of 1,200 g/t TSE on broiler growth, meat quality, and serum antioxidants.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of a single-session implantation of spinal cord electrical stimulation with neurophysiological monitoring a spinal cord electrical stimulator under general anesthesia with neurophysiological monitoring for the treatment of high-risk diabetic foot.
Methods: The clinical data of seven patients with high-risk diabetic foot who underwent spinal cord electrical stimulation in neurosurgery ward nine of Tianjin Huanhu Hospital from May 2022 to May 2023 were collected. The operation was performed under general anesthesia with the "C" arm X ray machine guidance and neurophysiological monitoring. The arterial diameter and peak flow rate of lower extremity, lower extremity skin temperature (calf skin temperature, foot skin temperature), visual analog scale (VAS), continuous distance of movement, blood glucose level and toe wound were compared between patients before and after surgery.
Results: A total of seven patients with high-risk diabetic foot were included. The diameters and peak flow rates of femoral artery, popliteal artery, anterior tibial artery, posterior tibial artery and dorsal foot artery in both lower limbs were significantly improved after surgery. All patients had different degrees of lower limb pain before operation. After operation, VAS score decreased significantly (1.1±0.9 vs. 6.8±3.4), the pain was significantly relieved, and the calf skin temperature and foot skin temperature were significantly higher than those before surgery [calf skin temperature (centigrade): 33.3±0.9 vs. 30.9±0.7, foot skin temperature (centigrade): 31.4±0.8 vs. 29.1±0.6], fasting blood glucose and postprandial blood glucose were significantly lower than those before surgery [fasting blood glucose (mmol/L): 7.6±1.4 vs. 10.5±1.2, postprandial blood glucose (mmol/L): 9.3±2.3 vs. 13.5±1.1], the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.01). The lower limb movement of all seven patients was significantly improved after surgery, including one patient who needed wheelchair travel before surgery, and one patient who had intermittent claudication before surgery. Among them, one patient needed wheelchair travel and one patient had intermittent claudication before surgery. All patients could walk normally at 2 weeks after operation. Among the seven patients, two patients had the diabetic foot wound ulceration before surgery, which could not heal for a long time. One month after surgery, blood flow around the foot wound recovered and the healing was accelerated. The wound was dry and crusted around the wound, and the wound healed well.
Conclusions: For diabetic high-risk foot patients who are intolerant to diabetic peripheral neuralgia and local anesthesia spinal cord electrical stimulation test, one-time implantation of spinal cord electrical stimulator under general anesthesia under neurophysiological monitoring can effectively alleviate peripheral neuralgia and other diabetic foot related symptoms, improve lower limb blood supply, and reduce the risk of toe amputation. Clinical practice has proved the effectiveness of this technique, especially for the early treatment of diabetic high-risk foot patients.

Abstract Small peptides are nutrients and bioactive molecules that have dual regulatory effects on nutrition and physiology. They are of great significance for maintaining the intestinal health and production performance of broilers. We here cultured the primary small intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) of chicken in a medium containing L-Leu (Leu) and L-Leu-L-Leu (Leu-Leu) for 24 h. The untreated cells were considered as the control group. The growth, proliferation, and apoptosis of IEC were examined. By combining RNA-seq and label-free sequencing technology, candidate genes, proteins, and pathways related to the growth, proliferation, and apoptosis of IEC were screened. Immunofluorescence detection revealed that the purity of the isolated primary IEC was >90%. The Leu-Leu group significantly promoted IEC growth and proliferation and significantly inhibited IEC apoptosis, and the effect was better than those of the Leu and control groups. Using transcriptome sequencing, four candidate genes, CCL20, IL8L1, IL8, and IL6, were screened in the Leu group, and one candidate gene, IL8, was screened in the Leu-Leu group. Two candidate genes, IL6 and RGN, were screened in the Leu-Leu group compared with the Leu group. Nonquantitative proteomic marker sequencing results revealed that through the screening of candidate proteins and pathways, found one growth-related candidate protein PGM3 and three proliferation-related candidate proteins RPS17, RPS11, and RPL23, and two apoptosis-related candidate proteins GPX4 and PDPK1 were found in the Leu-Leu group compared with Leu group. In short, Leu-Leu could promote IEC growth and proliferation and inhibit IEC apoptosis. On combining transcriptome and proteome sequencing technologies, multiple immune- and energy-related regulatory signal pathways were found to be related to IEC growth, proliferation, and apoptosis. Three candidate genes of IL8, IL6, and RGN were identified, and six candidate proteins of PGM3, RPS17, RPS11, RPL23, GPX4, and PDPK1 were involved in IEC growth, proliferation, and apoptosis. The results provide valuable data for preliminarily elucidating small peptide-mediated IEC regulation pathways, improving the small peptide nutrition theoretical system, and establishing small peptide nutrition regulation technology.

Abstract As an important food crop, cassava is rich in nutrients and high in starch content and is widely used in the production of industrial raw materials. However, the utilization value of cassava is limited due to the reduction of planting area and the existence of anti-nutritional factors. Therefore, we evaluated in vitro cassava starch digestibility and in vivo growth performance of broilers in a 3 × 3 factorial arrangement of treatments using three processing methods (mechanical crushing (MC), steam conditioning (SC), and puffing conditioning (PU)) and three conditioning temperatures (60, 75, and 90 °C) to screen for the optimal processing method and conditioning temperature to improve the utilization of cassava. In the in vitro cassava starch digestion study, the digestibility and digestion rate (

Abstract Proper anther dehiscence is essential for successful pollination and reproduction in angiosperms, and jasmonic acid (JA) is crucial for the process. However, the mechanisms underlying tight regulation of JA biosynthesis during anther development remain largely unknown. Here, we demonstrate that the rice (Oryza sativa L.) ERF-associated amphiphilic repression (EAR) motif-containing protein TCP INTERACTOR CONTAINING EAR MOTIF PROTEIN1 (OsTIE1) tightly regulates JA biosynthesis by repressing TEOSINTE BRANCHED1/CYCLOIDEA/PROLIFERATING CELL FACTORS (TCP) transcription factor OsTCP1/PCF5 during anther development. The loss of OsTIE1 function in Ostie1 mutants causes male sterility. The Ostie1 mutants display inviable pollen, early stamen filament elongation and precocious anther dehiscence. In addition, JA biosynthesis is activated earlier and JA abundance is precociously increased in Ostie1 anthers. OsTIE1 is expressed during anther development, and OsTIE1 is localized in nuclei and has transcriptional repression activity. OsTIE1 directly interacts with OsTCP1, and overexpression of OsTCP1 caused early anther dehiscence resembling that of Ostie1. JA biosynthesis genes including rice LIPOXYGENASE (OsLOX) are regulated by the OsTIE1-OsTCP1 complex. Our findings reveal that the OsTIE1-OsTCP1 module plays a critical role in anther development by finely tuning JA biosynthesis and provide a foundation for the generation of male sterile plants for hybrid seed production.

Abstract The ankle is a crucial joint that supports the human body weight. An ankle sprain will adversely affect the patient's daily life, so it is of great significance to ensure its strength. To help patients with ankle dysfunction to carry out effective rehabilitation training, the bone structure and motion mechanism of the ankle were analyzed in this paper. Referring to the configuration of the lower-mobility parallel mechanism, a 3-RRS (R and S denote revolute and spherical joint respectively) parallel ankle rehabilitation robot (PARR) was proposed. The robot can realize both single and compound ankle rehabilitation training. The structure of the robot was introduced, and the kinematics model was established. The freedom of movement of the robot was analyzed using the screw theory, and the robot kinematics were analyzed using spherical analytics theory. A circular composite rehabilitation trajectory was planned, and the accuracy of the kinematics model was verified by virtual prototype simulation. The Multibody simulation results show that the trajectory of the target point is basically the same as the expected trajectory. The maximum trajectory error is about 2.5 mm in the simulation process, which is within the controllable range. The experimental results of the virtual prototype simulation show that the maximum angular deflection error of the three motors is 2° when running a circular trajectory, which meets the experimental requirements. Finally, a control strategy for passive rehabilitation training was designed, and the effectiveness of this control strategy was verified by a prototype experiment.
