Abstract Chinese college students have a high incidence of psychological problems but rarely seek professional psychological help. Despite this fact, there have been few studies of the help-seeking behavior of Chinese college students with mental health problems. This research aims to use a modified model based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to explore the intentions and behaviors of Chinese college students with psychological problems in seeking professional psychological help. A total of 319 Chinese college students were recruited to measure attitude, stigma, coping efficiency, help-seeking intention, help-seeking behavior, and demographic variables. The results showed that attitudes were the most powerful predictor of intentions to seek help, followed by coping effectiveness and stigma. In addition, a multigroup analysis showed that the model was valid across genders. Our research results show that the TPB-based model can effectively explain the intentions and behaviors of college students with psychological problems in seeking professional help. Using our results, families, schools, and society could design intervention measures to enhance students' help-seeking intentions and behaviors.

Abstract Macrophage/microglia function as immune defense and homeostatic cells that originate from bone marrow progenitor cells. Macrophage/microglia activation is historically divided into proinflammatory M1 or anti-inflammatory M2 states based on intracellular dynamics and protein production. The polarization of macrophages/microglia involves a pivotal impact in modulating the development of inflammatory disorders, namely lung and traumatic brain injuries. Recent evidence indicates shared signaling pathways in lung and traumatic brain injuries, regulated through non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) loaded into extracellular vesicles (EVs). This packaging protects ncRNAs from degradation. These vesicles are subcellular components released through a paracellular mechanism, constituting a group of nanoparticles that involve exosomes, microvesicles, and apoptotic bodies. EVs are characterized by a double-layered membrane and are abound with proteins, nucleic acids, and other bioactive compounds. ncRNAs are RNA molecules with functional roles, despite their absence of coding capacity. They actively participate in the regulation of mRNA expression and function through various mechanisms. Recent studies pointed out that selective packaging of ncRNAs into EVs plays a role in modulating distinct facets of macrophage/microglia polarization, under conditions of lung and traumatic brain injuries. This study will explore the latest findings regarding the role of EVs in the progression of lung and traumatic brain injuries, with a specific focus on the involvement of ncRNAs within these vesicles. The conclusion of this review will emphasize the clinical opportunities presented by EV-ncRNAs, underscoring their potential functions as both biomarkers and targets for therapeutic interventions.

Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the comparation of myocutaneous flap vs. skin flap in V-Y medial epicanthal fold reconstruction.
Methods: The study, conducted from April 2017 to June 2022, involved two groups: group A, comprising 21 patients who underwent medial epicanthal fold restoration surgery using the V-Y advancement method with a skin flap, and group B, comprising 83 patients who underwent the same procedure, while with a myocutaneous flap for orbicularis oculi ring reconstruction. Intercanthal distances were measured preoperatively, recorded during preoperative and postoperative reviews, and assessed through a 4-point Likert satisfaction questionnaire.
Results: A total of 104 patients were followed up for 6 months postoperatively. In group A, preoperative intercanthal distances ranged from 28.7 mm to 38.2 mm, increasing to 30.2 mm-40.6 mm postoperatively, with a mean increase of 3.0 mm (
Conclusion: The myocutaneous flap V-Y procedure, employing the principle of orbicularis oculi ring reconstruction, achieves more stable postoperative results than the flap-only V-Y procedure. Consequently, it can be regarded as the preferred surgical technique.

Abstract Circular RNAs (CircRNAs), belonging to non-coding RNAs, exert a crucial modulatory role in cancer progression. In this study, circRNA microarray analysis was utilized to screen differentially expressed circRNA in colorectal cancer (CRC) and circ_0000467 was identified as one circRNA whose expression was significantly upregulated in CRC. Quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) indicated that circ_0000467 and engrailed-2 (EN2) expression levels were up-modulated, while the expression level of miR-382-5p was down-modulated in CRC tissues. The depletion of circ_0000467 expression was found to impede the multiplication, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) processes in CRC cells, which were examined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and Transwell experiments. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was used to verify the targeting relationship between circ_0000467 and miR-382-5p. It was also revealed that circ_0000467 could up-regulate EN2 expression via repressing miR-382-5p in CRC cells. Furthermore, EN2 overexpression counteracted the suppressing effects of circ_0000467 knockdown on the malignant behaviors of CRC cells. To sum up, circ_0000467 facilitates CRC development by modulating the miR-382-5p/EN2 axis, and circ_0000467 is a promising target for CRC therapy.

Abstract Objective: Regular monitoring of serum potassium after a total joint arthroplasty (TJA) is a form of routine examination that can help detect abnormal serum potassium levels and reduce the incidences of adverse events that may occur on account of postoperative hypokalemia. Previous studies rarely discussed hypokalemia after joint replacement. In the present study, our primary goal was to investigate the incidence and possible risk factors of hypokalemia after a total hip and knee replacement procedure was performed.
Methods: This study included patients who underwent a unilateral total knee or hip arthroplasty in our department between April 2017 and March 2018. Serum potassium levels pre and post operation were collected and retrospectively analyzed. The differences in age, gender, body mass index (BMI), history of diseases, red blood cell (RBC), hemoglobin, hematocrit, glomerular filtration rate, ejection fraction, blood glucose, urine creatinine, urea nitrogen, intraoperative blood loss, operation time, drainage, preoperative potassium, surgery type, were compared between those patients diagnosed with hypokalemia and their non-hypokalemia at different times post surgery. Thereafter, the risk factors of postoperative hypokalemia patients were analyzed using statistical procedure multiple logistic regression model.
Results: The risk of hypokalemia after TJA was 53.1%, while, that on the first, third, and fifth day after operation was 12.5%, 40.7%, and 9.6% respectively. The serum potassium level on the first, third, and fifth postoperative days was 3.84 ± 0.32, 3.59 ± 0.34, and 3.80 ± 0.32 mmol/l, respectively. However, the level on the third day appeared to be the lowest (p = 0.015) of them all. The independent risk factors for hypokalemia after a total hip and knee replacement were the level of preoperative serum potassium concentration (p = 0.011), preoperative red blood cells counts (p = 0.027), and history of diabetes (p = 0.007).
Conclusion: Regular monitoring of serum potassium concentration should be performed post TJA. We need to pay more attention to the patient's preoperative potassium levels along with their red blood cell counts especially in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract Shotcrete is widely used in tunnels, bridges, culverts, and other large-scale projects. The accelerator is an additive employed to expedite the setting time of shotcrete. Previous research primarily concentrated on enhancing the early strength of accelerators, whereas their long-term stability has been inadequately investigated. In this study, pseudoboehmite (PB) and amorphous aluminum hydroxide (AAH) were incorporated into the accelerator to enhance its stability over a period of 90 days without any signs of crystallization or delamination. Furthermore, the accelerator exhibited an initial setting time of 170 s, a final setting time of 550 s, and a compressive strength of 11.58 MPa after 1 day. The mechanism of effects was studied by isothermal calorimetry, FTIR, XRD, TG-DTG, and SEM analysis. The enhancement in stability is attributed to the distinctive adsorption and thixotropic properties of PB, which facilitate the formation of an electrical double-layer structure in acidic solutions. The expedited setting and hardening are primarily due to the equilibrium between Al
