    Abstract With the increasing demand for wearable and miniature electronics, in-plane zinc (Zn) ion hybrid micro-supercapacitors (ZIHMSCs), as a promising and compatible energy power source, have attracted tremendous attention due to their unique merits. Despite enormous development and breakthroughs in this field, there is still a lack of a systematic and comprehensive review to update the recent progress of in-plane ZIHMSCs in the design and fabrication of both micro-anodes and micro-cathodes, the exploration and optimization of new electrolytes, and the investigation of related-energy storage mechanisms. This minireview summarizes the key breakthroughs and recent advances in the construction of high-performance in-plane ZIHMSCs. First, the background and fundamentals of in-plane ZIHMSCs are briefly introduced. Then, new concepts, strategies, and latest exciting developments in the preparation and interfacial engineering of Zn metal micro-anodes, the fabrication of advanced micro-cathodes, and the exploration of new electrolyte systems are discussed, respectively. Finally, the key challenges and future directions for the development of high-performance in-plane ZIHMSCs are presented as well. This review not only accounts for the recent research progress in the field of the in-plane ZIHMSCs, but also provides important new insights into the design of next-generation miniaturized energy storage devices.

    Abstract Carbamazepine (CBZ) has been identified in the aquatic environment as an emerging contaminant. Its immune effect across generations at environmentally relevant concentrations is little known. We aim to elucidate the effects of CBZ on the immune system in zebrafish (Danio rerio), hypothesizing the effects caused by CBZ exposure in the parental generation can be passed on to its offspring, leading to impairment of innate immune function and defense against pathogen weakened. A suite of bioassays (including a test with added lipopolysaccharide) was used to measure the effects of environmentally relevant levels of CBZ (1, 10, and 100 μg/l) on zebrafish at multiple biological levels, and across 2 successive generations (21 days exposure for F0; 5 and 21 days exposure or nonexposure for F1). The results showed that CBZ affected homeostasis in the immune system, caused liver vacuolization, increased the inflammation-related microbiota proportion in gut, and decreased reproduction, by induction of oxidative stress and modulation of Toll-like receptors (TLR) signaling pathway on gut-liver axis. The effects of exposure to CBZ over 21 days in F0 could be passed to the next generation. Intergenerational effects on TLR and antioxidant defense system were also observed in nonexposed F1 at 5 days post-fertilization (5 dpf), but diminished at 21 dpf. The finding provided evidence to unravel immune response by gut-liver axis mediated and oxidative stress under 4 test conditions. The study has raised a potential concern about the multigenerational immune effects of environmental pollutants and calls for a focus on the risk of synergetic pathogen infection.

    Abstract Ovarian cancer is still one of the leading causes of death from reproductive system cancers. Despite recent advances in treating this cancer, ovarian cancer is the fourth cause of death in women. Knowing the risk factors of ovarian cancer and the factors affecting the prognosis of this tumor can be helpful. This study investigates risk factors and practical factors in determining the prognosis of ovarian cancer. In the present study, we searched through various databases such as Wiley Online Library, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Elsevier with the keywords Polycystic Ovarian, Ovarian Estrogen-Dependent Tumors Syndrome Chronic Inflammation, Prognosis of Ovarian Cancer, among published articles from 1996 to 2022. Based on these studies, we investigated the age of menstruation, age of menopause, number of pregnancies, family history of ovarian cancer and genital tract cancer, use of birth control pills, histological type of tumor, degree of cell differentiation, type of surgery, and post-surgery treatments, and examination of the serum level of tumor marker CA12, as well as the role of polycystic ovary syndrome in the development of ovarian cancer. In general, infertility was one of the most important risk factors and the serum level of tumor marker CA125 was one of the most important determinants of ovarian cancer prognosis.

    Abstract Objective The renal excretion function of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is reduced, and the nervous system toxic reactions of antibiotics are prone to occur. The purpose of this study is to screen out some risk factors for patients with CKD to suffer from antibiotic-associated encephalopathy (AAE).Design A case–control study.Setting A tertiary hospital in China.Participants The medical records of patients who were hospitalised for CKD and infectious diseases in our hospital from January 2010 to December 2019. All patients used antibiotics to treat infectious diseases during hospitalisation. All patients were divided into two groups according to whether they developed AAE during hospitalisation. The patients with CKD without AAE were selected as the control group (n=120), and the patients with CKD with AAE were regarded as the AAE group (n=102).Interventions This study systematically analysed its clinical manifestations, laboratory examinations, prognosis, etc, and summarised the risk factors related to AAE in patients with CKD.Primary outcome Screening risk factors of AAE in patients with CKD.Results Logistic regression analysis showed that coronary heart disease, as well as abnormal indicators of haemoglobin, albumin, uric acid and blood phosphorus were independent risk factors for patients with CKD with AAE (OR values were 4.137, 0.963, 0.849, 0.996 0.161, respectively, all p<0.05). The case fatality rate (Pearson χ2=7.524, p=0.006), rehospitalisation rate (Pearson χ2=6.187, p=0.013) and treatment costs (t=−8.44, p<0.001) in encephalopathy group are significantly higher than the control group.Conclusions Patients with CKD with AAE will increase the case fatality rate and cause poor prognosis. Coronary heart disease, as well as decreased levels of haemoglobin, albumin, uric acid, and blood phosphorus are independent risk factors for patients with CKD with AAE. Timely intervention of these risk factors may reduce the incidence of AAE and improve the prognosis.

    Abstract Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by neutrophils airway infiltration. It is currently known that Interleukin-17 (IL-17) is an important pro-inflammatory factor. It can promote the accumulation of neutrophils and participate in the chronic inflammatory process of COPD. However, the value of IL-17 levels in the diagnosis and assessment of COPD remains controversial. In view of this, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess its relevance.
    Methods: We searched databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Embase to extract original research.
    Results: A total of 10 studies with 2268 participants were included in this meta-analysis. The results showed that the level of serum IL-17 in patients with stable COPD was significantly higher than that in healthy controls (standard mean difference SMD, 1.59, 95% CI 0.84-2.34;
    Conclusion: Our results showed that IL-17 levels were elevated in serum and sputum in COPD patients compared with healthy controls, and IL-17 levels increased with disease progression. IL-17 serves as a potential biomarker to indicate the persistence of neutrophilic inflammation and exacerbation of COPD.
