Abstract The book presents a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of phytochemicals as efficient cancer therapeutics. Over the last few decades there has been a paradigm shift from conventional cancer therapeutic approaches to alternative and complementary medicinal approaches especially using phytoconstituents from natural products. As such, the book provides an in-depth understanding of phytochemicals targeting diverse signaling pathways involved in cancer along with the evaluation of the cancer modulatory effects of phytochemicals. It also highlights the potential modulatory effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on the cancer-associated cellular pathways and their interactions with the phytochemicals. Further, it analyzes the drug delivery methods, bioavailability of active components of botanicals, and toxicity of phytochemicals. Lastly, the book elucidates the 3D cell culture and animal models systems to analyze the beneficial effects of phytochemicals in cancer.

Abstract Background: In the last 3 decades, omeprazole has proved its mettle in managing acid peptic diseases (APDs). It has established itself as the first line of therapy for duodenal and gastric ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers due to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES).
Objectives: The purpose of this literature review is to assess the effectiveness of omeprazole as compared to the other proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) currently in use and its safety and efficacy in special populations, including the pediatric and geriatric populations.
Results: Omeprazole was found to be the most effective PPI in the management of APDs due to its rapid action, good antioxidant effects, and effectiveness against nocturnal acid breakthroughs. Its safety and tolerance have been proved in various randomized controlled trials.
Conclusion: Omeprazole is the prototypical drug in the management of APDs and has withstood the test of time. After 3 decades, omeprazole remains the drug of choice in managing APD.

Abstract Microencapsulation can be described as heavy, fluid or gaseous substance packaging engineering with thin polymeric coatings, creating small particles called microcapsules. Microencapsulation is very helpful to increase the solubility of drugs. For the drugs of BCS Class-II we use this technique which enables us to get more solubility and increase dissolution profile. This is a novel method of drug delivery. In future aspect we can use this technique in the foodindustry, beverages. A microencapsulation approach for the preparation of an intrauterine contraceptionsystem was alsosuggested. This technique is helpful to overcome poor solubility, low Bioavaibility and less stability. This method also gives more control over the drawback of conventional dosages form.

Abstract The liver comprises both parenchymal and non-parenchymal cells with varying functions. Cirrhosis is often complicated by the development of portal hypertension and its associated complications. Hence, assessment of liver in cirrhosis should include assessment of its structural, function of both hepatic and non-hepatic tissue and haemodynamic assessment of portal hypertension. There is no single test that can evaluate all functions of liver and assess prevalence and severity of portal hypertension. Commonly available tests like serum bilirubin, liver enzymes (alanine [ALT] and aspartate aminotransferase [AST], serum alkaline phosphatase [ALP], gamma glutamyl transpeptidase [GGT]), serum albumin and prothrombin time for assessment of liver functions partly assess liver functions. quantitative liver functions like indocyanine clearance tests [ICG-K], methacetin breath test [MBT] were developed to assess dynamic status of liver but has its own limitation and availability. Imaging based assessment of liver by transient elastography, MRI based 99 mTc-coupled asialoglycoprotein mebrofenin scan help the clinician to assess liver function, functional volume of liver left after surgery and portal hypertension [PH]. Hepatic venous pressure gradient still remains the gold standard for the assessment of portal hypertension but is invasive and not available in all centres. Combinations of blood parameters in form of various indices like fibrosis score of 4 [FIB-4], Lok index, scores like model for end stage liver disease (MELD) and Child-Turcotte Pugh score are commonly used for assessing liver function in clinical practice.

Abstract This study explores the dual applications of a greenly synthesized ZnO@CTAB nanocomposite for the efficient remediation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and lead (Pb). The synthesis method involves a sustainable approach, emphasizing environmentally friendly practices. FT-IR, XRD, FESEM, zeta potential, and particle size analyzer (PSA), BET, and UV-VIS were used to physically characterize the zinc oxide and CTAB nanocomposite (ZnO@CTAB). The size and crystalline index of ZnO@CTAB are 77.941 nm and 63.56% respectively. The Zeta potential of ZnO@CTAB is about - 22.4 mV. The pore diameter of the ZnO@CTAB was 3.216 nm, and its total surface area was 97.42 m
