Abstract The incidence and mortality rates of cardiovascular diseases are on the rise globally, posing a severe threat to human health. Atherosclerosis (AS) is considered a multi-factorial inflammatory disease and the main pathological basis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, as well as the leading cause of death. Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota can induce and exacerbate inflammatory reactions, accelerate metabolic disorders and immune function decline, and affect the progression and prognosis of AS-related diseases. The Chinese herbal medicine clinicians frequently utilize Yiqi Huoxue Huatan recipe, an effective therapeutic approach for the management of AS. This article reviews the correlation between the main components of Yiqi Huoxue Huatan recipe and the gut microbiota and AS to provide new directions and a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of AS.

Abstract Gordon Holmes Syndrome (GDHS) is a hereditary neurodegenerative disease mainly associated with mutations of RNF216. We established a human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) line, FDHSi003-A, derived from PBMC of a patient baring a mutation of RNF216 c.1948G > T, who shows typical symptoms of GDHS. The generated FDHSi003-A expresses pluripotency markers, displays a normal karyotype, and has the potency to differentiate into all three germ layers. Thus, FDHSi003-A is an ideal model to investigate the mechanism of RNF216 in GDHS.

Abstract A scientific understanding of the trade-offs and synergies of ecosystem services is the prerequisite for maintaining the structure, function and health of forest ecosystems, which is conducive to promoting the “win-win” goal of economic development and ecological protection. As an important ecological function area in China, the Qinba Mountain region is responsible for important ecological services such as biodiversity conservation and water conservation, and exploring the trade-offs and synergistic relationships of ecosystem services is important for ecological conservation and high-quality development in this region. This paper analyzes the spatial and temporal characteristics of water conservation, soil conservation, carbon sequestration, and habitat quality services and their synergistic/balancing relationships in the Qinba Mountain region from 1990 to 2020 using tools such as the InVEST model, ArcGIS, and Matlab. The results showed that (1) the overall trend of water connotation, soil conservation and carbon sequestration in the Qinba Mountains is increasing, while the trend of habitat quality is fluctuating and decreasing. The spatial distribution pattern of water conservation and soil conservation services was “high in the southwest and low in the northeast”, while the spatial pattern of habitat quality services was the opposite; the spatial distribution pattern of carbon sequestration services was “low in the middle and high around”. (2) Habitat quality in the Qinba Mountains has a trade-off relationship with water connotation and soil conservation, as water connotation–soil conservation is a synergistic relationship, while carbon sequestration is unrelated to water connotation–soil conservation and habitat quality. (3) The area of habitat quality–water conservation showed a decreasing trend; the area of habitat quality–soil conservation showed an increasing trend; the area of habitat quality-water conservation showed a decreasing trend; the area of habitat quality-soil conservation showed an increasing ...

Abstract Poly ADP ribose polymerase-1 (PARP-1), one of the most important members of the PARP protein family, plays a crucial role in DNA damage repair, gene transcription, and apoptosis of cancer cells. In this work, benzofuran[3,2-d]pyrimidine-4(3H)-one was used as a framework to design and synthesize a series of novel PARP-1 inhibitors by introducing thiosemicarbazone or its derivatives into the scafford. Among all the target compounds, 19b and 19c were found to exhibit more potent inhibitory activity and higher selectivity against PARP-1 than Olaparib, especially the latter had an IC

Abstract Sea ice thickness (SIT) is an important parameter in the study of climate change. During the past 20 years, satellite altimetry has been widely used to observe sea ice thickness. The Chinese Haiyang-2B (HY-2B) radar altimeter, launched in October 2018, can provide data up to 80.6° latitude and can be used as a supplementary means to observe polar sea ice. Reliable HY-2B SIT products will contribute to the sea ice community. In this study, we aimed to assess the Arctic sea ice thickness retrieval ability of the HY-2B radar altimetry data. We processed the HY-2B radar altimetry data from January 2019 to April 2022 and used the processed data to retrieve the Arctic SIT. The Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) CryoSat-2 (CS-2) SIT products were used to calibrate the HY-2B SIT estimates with a linear regression method. The Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) CS-2, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and GSFC ICESat-2 (IS-2) SIT products were used to validate the HY-2B calibrated SIT estimates. The HY-2B calibrated SIT estimates have good, consistent spatial distributions with the CS-2 and IS-2 SIT products. The comparison with the IS-2 and IS-2 SIT products shows the root-mean-square error (RMSE) and bias for the HY-2B SIT estimates are significantly reduced after calibration. The HY-2B SIT estimates were also validated using the ice thickness data from Operation IceBridge (OIB) and the ice draft data from the Beaufort Gyre Exploration Project (BGEP). Finally, the monthly variations of the HY-2B SIT estimates were analyzed. Results show that the HY-2B calibrated SIT estimates are reliable, especially when the SIT values are lower than 3 m. The HY-2B altimetry data is a possible source for sea ice thickness data at lower latitudes and will help us better understand the sea ice response to climate change.

Abstract To study the particle size distribution and energy variation law of hard coal under a load, an impact compression test of hard coal specimens under different impact loading conditions was carried out using a Φ50 mm diameter Separate Hopkinson Press Bar (SHPB) test system. We implemented the theory of dynamic impact energy of rock to establish the calculation expression of hard coal impact crushing energy dissipation, and we established the Weibull distribution model of a crushing body to analyze the impact velocity in relation to the particle size distribution of hard coal crushing and crushing energy consumption. The results demonstrate that due to the different original states of the specimens, the damage to the specimens under static action is in the mode of conjugate plane shear damage, single bevel shear damage, and tensile damage. The damage process of the specimen under impact load loading is divided into three stages: elastic deformation, elastic–plastic deformation, and plastic softening, while the increase in the strain rate caused the peak stress of the specimen to increase. The Weibull distribution can characterize the impact crushing size distribution of hard coal specimens very well. The parameter of coal rock crushing degree is a power function that is influenced by the impact velocity; the greater the impact velocity, the higher the coal rock crushing degree, but the characteristic index of coal rock crushing fluctuates with the increase in impact velocity. As the impact velocity increases, the incident energy and reflected energy increase linearly, while the transmitted energy increases first and then decreases. The dissipation energy of coal rock crushing also increases linearly with the impact velocity. There is no obvious regular change between the energy dissipation rate of coal rock and impact velocity during impact damage, and the dissipated energy of macroscopic crushing only accounts for 10~20% of the incident energy; most of the energy is used for damping loss and damage loss.
