Abstract This article applies scientometric techniques to study the evolution of the field of entrepreneurship between 1990 and 2013. Using a combination of topic mapping, author and journal co-citation analyses, and overlay visualization of new and hot topics in the field, this article makes important contribution to the entrepreneurship research by identifying 46 topics in the 24-year history of entrepreneurship research and demonstrates how they appear, disappear, reappear and stabilize over time. It also identifies five topics that are persistent across the 24-year study period--institutions and institutional entrepreneurship, innovation and technology management, policy and development, entrepreneurial process and opportunity, and new ventures--which I labeled as The Pentagon of Entrepreneurship. Overall, the analyses revealed patterns of convergence and divergence and the diversity of topics, specialization, and interdisciplinary engagement in entrepreneurship research, thus offering the latest insights on the state of the art of the field.

Abstract Social entrepreneurship is an important policy tool for addressing social and environmental problems. Social entrepreneurship has also gained popularity as a career choice among younger people, including millennials. However, few studies have examined the predictors of intention to engage in social entrepreneurship as a means of both creating public good and serving one’s own interests. This article seeks to answer the important question of what drives social entrepreneurial intention. Conceptualizing social entrepreneurship as a public- and private-value response to sustainability challenges, a set of hypotheses regarding the association between public service motivation, money ethics and intention to initiate social entrepreneurship were tested using survey data from 662 millennials in Indonesia. Structural equation modeling and multiple regressions revealed that both public service motivation and money ethics had direct and indirect effects on intention to engage in social entrepreneurship. Public service motivation was a stronger predictor of intention than money ethics were.

Abstract The commentary addresses the government’s role in mitigating information asymmetry problems during pandemic crisis response. We use the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China, as a case to show the use of social media as a key mechanism in shaping the actions of the central government in its coordination with the local governments during the pandemic response. The Chinese government effectively collaborated with a social media platform to not only create a dedicated channel to allow citizens to post information about the pandemic to accelerate the speed of relief but also mobilize citizens and nonprofit organizations to support government response and recovery efforts. This suggests that social media can provide a venue for the government to not only tackle the information overload but also mitigate the friction among levels of governments.
