Abstract The nutrients present in fruits are associated with health benefits, which is why fruit consumption has increased globally. However, global statistics show that fruits together with vegetables constitute the largest part of post-harvest food losses. This is because fruits such as guava are highly perishable and therefore degradation occurs quickly. This study aimed to assess the conservation of 'Pedro Sato' red guavas using chitosan and gelatin coatings produced by the layer-by-layer technique. The fruits were immersed in the following treatments: [1] control; [2] chitosan; [3] gelatin, and [4] chitosan and glycerol under gelatin. After drying, the guavas were stored for eight days at 21±0.3°C and 77±6% RH. Chemical characterization of coatings, weight loss, color, firmness, soluble solids, titratable acidity, ascorbic solid, chlorophylls, lycopene, total phenolic, antioxidant activity, lipid oxidation, catalase and peroxidase were analyzed in the fruits. Guava coating with gelatin/chitosan by the layer-by-layer technique delayed ripening, protected against diseases, reduced in loss of weight loss and lipid oxidation, maintained color and firmness, and enhanced catalase enzyme activity. The coatingincreased guava conservation for at least eight days, indicating the good potential of this coating technique association.

Title translation From the Hospício de Pedro II to the Hospital Nacional de Alienados: a hundred years of records (1841-1944).
Abstract This research note lays out methodological approaches, documentary sources, historiographical inscription and reflections that arose from an ongoing research study entitled "From the Hospício de Pedro II to the Hospital Nacional de Alienados: a hundred years of records (1841-1944)." A group of researchers and students involved in the project have analyzed the history of the first psychiatric institution in Brazil for the period from the second half of the nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century. They are also committed to the ideal of contributing to the organization and conservation of the documentary sources of this institution. Here we present the innovative nature of the project, especially due to its methodological approaches in combination with its focus on preserving historical documents.

Title translation Evaluation of coefficient of variation of age in pleural effusion in António Pedro Hospital, Niterói city, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Abstract Pleural effusion is a frequent syndrome in Brazil. Tuberculosis is the most prevalent (P) cause. The coefficient of variation (CV) is a useful single measure of variability. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the coefficient of variation in pleural effusion, having as variable the age. 215 patients had appeared after diagnostic physician and for image of syndrome of pleural effusions. Diagnostic thoracentesis, tests on pleural fluid and others invasive surgical procedures to the approach to a patient with pleural effusion. Tuberculosis (P=56.0%; CV=39,7%), adenocarcinoma (P=11.0%; CV=25.1%), transudates (P=12.0%; CV=19.6%), lymphomas (P=2.0%; CV=34.6%), systemic lupus erythematosus (P=2.0%; CV=38.7%), empyema pleural not tuberculosis (P=5.0%; CV=42.2%), pulmonary infarction (P=4.0 %; CV=30.1%) and parapneumonic (P=4.0 %; CV=38.9%) are the causes more prevalent. The analysis on the date showed that the coefficient of variation of age in pleural effusions was high and very high. The values of the coefficient of variation translate a high degree of dispersion of the age of the patients in each cause of pleural effusion.

Abstract For proposition of the better recovery practice is necessary to identify the main characteristics of index fingers soil of environmental degradation. For so much, it should seize upon chemical, physical and biological analyses. Thus, the goal of this work was to study some chemical indicators of environmental degradation in soils terms of semiarid. The soils were collected in the pilot's area JICA Project located in the municipal district of Pedro Avelino-RN, the choice of the area was due to your desertification degree. The analyses were accomplished in Soil, Plant and Water Analyses Laboratory of the University Semi-arid Rural Federal. The samples were collected in the layers of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 cm. The accomplished chemical analyses were: pH in water (1:2,5); Electric Conductivity (CE) in the extract 1:5; Ca+2,Mg+2, Na+ and K+ exchangeable, and P available. By the results, it verified that pH and CE increased with the depth, with regard to the contents of In the Na+ in the soil there was variation with the increase of the depth. To the thwart of the majority of the analyzed elements the K+ tended to decrease your content in the soil with the increase of the depth, The sodium elevated contents should be carried in consideration for the implantation of the recovery project, using itself preferentially resistant plants of sodicity.

Abstract Introduction and objectives: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common form of arrhythmia worldwide and a significant health burden. Edoxaban, a recent novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC), is being investigated in the European real-world ETNA-AF study of patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). The aim of this study was to characterize the Iberian edoxaban-treated cohort of ETNA-AF at baseline and to compare it with previously retrieved Portuguese data.
Methods: Patients with NVAF treated with edoxaban and followed in Portuguese and Spanish centers were consecutively enrolled between June 2017 and January 2018. Only patients with a previous clinical decision to receive edoxaban were included. Patients' baseline demographic and clinical parameters, medical history, and AF-related characteristics were retrieved.
Results: A total of 892 NVAF patients, with a mean age of 73.9 years, were included, 75.3% of whom received high-dose (60 mg) and 24.7% low-dose (30 mg) edoxaban. Most patients (55.9%) were male. Of the patients receiving 30 mg and 60 mg edoxaban, 55.9% and 37.9%, respectively, had an estimated CHA
Conclusions: This study provides valuable data on disease and patient profiles and will provide valuable insights into disease management and progression, as well as the safety, effectiveness, and patterns of cardiovascular events associated with edoxaban.
