Abstract The success of the TB control program is hampered by the major issue of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). The situation has undoubtedly been made more difficult by the widespread and multidrug-resistant (XDR) strains of TB. The modification of existing anti-TB medications to produce derivatives that can function on resistant TB bacilli is one of the potential techniques to overcome drug resistance affordably and straightforwardly. In comparison to novel pharmaceuticals for drug research and progress, these may have a better half-life and greater bioavailability, be more efficient, and serve as inexpensive alternatives. Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is drugsusceptible or drug-resistant, is effectively treated by several already prescribed medications and their derivatives. Due to this, the current review attempts to give a brief overview of the rifampicin derivatives that can overcome the parent drug's resistance and could, hence, act as useful substitutes. It has been found that one-third of the global population is affected by M. tuberculosis. The most common cause of infection-related death can range from latent TB to TB illness. Antibiotics in the rifamycin class, including rifampicin or rifampin (RIF), rifapentine (RPT), and others, have a special sterilizing effect on M. tuberculosis. We examine research focused on evaluating the safety, effectiveness, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, risk of medication interactions, and other characteristics of RIF analogs. Drug interactions are especially difficult with RIF because it must be taken every day for four months to treat latent TB infection. RIF continues to be the gold standard of treatment for drug-sensitive TB illness. RIF's safety profile is well known, and the two medicines' adverse reactions have varying degrees of frequency. The authorized once-weekly RPT regimen is insufficient, but greater dosages of either medication may reduce the amount of time needed to treat TB effectively.

Abstract Although NH 4 + fertilization is known to acidify rhizosphere and enhance nutrient uptake, the effects on a nutrient-sufficient acidic soil amended with lime are not demonstrated. Thus, the influence of NH 4 + fertilization of an unlimed and limed (3 g calcium carbonate per kg soil) acidic soil on the nutrient uptake and growth of maize was studied in comparison to NH 4 NO 3 fertilization. The pH of limed rhizosphere soil was about two units higher than that of the unlimed soil. The maize plants were grown in pots under greenhouse conditions for about two months. The results showed that the pH of the NH 4 + -fertilized unlimed and limed soil was 0.54 and 0.15 units lower than the NH 4 NO 3 -fertilized soil. Liming negatively affected shoot and root dry matter production, whereas the NH 4 + -fertilized plants produced higher dry matter than the NH 4 NO 3 -fertilized plants, with significant difference of 28% in the limed soil only. Liming decreased Fe concentration in rhizosphere soil from 99 to 69 mg kg −1 and decreased plant-available Mn the most (71%), whereas the NH 4 + -fertilized unlimed and limed soil had 48% and 21% higher Mn concentration than the respective NH 4 NO 3 -fertilized soils. Similarly limed rhizosphere soil had 50% lower plant-available Zn concentration than the unlimed soil, and the NH 4 + -fertilized soil had an 8% higher Zn concentration than the NH 4 NO 3 -fertilized unlimed soil. The liming negatively affected P, K, Mn, and Zn concentrations and contents in maize shoot to a lower degree in the NH 4 + -fertilized soil, whereas the positive effect of NH 4 + on the nutrient concentration and contents was vigorous in the unlimed soil than the limed soil. It is concluded that NH 4 + fertilization could be beneficial in enhancing nutrient uptake and growth of maize in both acidic and alkaline soils, despite the higher inherent plant-available concentrations of the nutrient in soil.

Abstract Obesity is a source of significant pathologies and deadly diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. One of the most intriguing strategies in the hunt for new anti-obesity medications is the inhibition of pancreatic lipase (PL). This study presents a novel application of short α and β-mixed peptides as pancreatic lipase inhibitors. These peptides were synthesized in the solution phase and characterized using FTIR and

Abstract Skin cancer classification is a complex and time-consuming task. Existing approaches use segmentation to improve accuracy and efficiency, but due to different sizes and shapes of lesions, segmentation is not a suitable approach. In this research study, we proposed an improved automated system based on hybrid and optimal feature selections. Firstly, we balanced our dataset by applying three different transformation techniques, which include brightness, sharpening, and contrast enhancement. Secondly, we retrained two CNNs, Darknet53 and Inception V3, using transfer learning. Thirdly, the retrained models were used to extract deep features from the dataset. Lastly, optimal features were selected using moth flame optimization (MFO) to overcome the curse of dimensionality. This helped us in improving accuracy and efficiency of our model. We achieved 95.9%, 95.0%, and 95.8% on cubic SVM, quadratic SVM, and ensemble subspace discriminants, respectively. We compared our technique with state-of-the-art approach.

Abstract High-grade gliomas are extremely fatal tumors, marked by severe hypoxia and therapeutic resistance. Autophagy is a cellular degradative process that can be activated by hypoxia, ultimately resulting in tumor advancement and chemo-resistance. Our study aimed to examine the link between autophagy markers' expression in low-grade gliomas (LGGs) and high-grade gliomas (HGGs). In 39 glioma cases, we assessed the protein expression of autophagy markers LC3B,

Abstract In this study, oxygenated triarylmethyl (oxTAM) is investigated by DFT calculations as a drug carrier framework for Nitrosourea (NU) and Fluorouracil (FU) drugs. Based on the adsorption analysis i.e., energies and distances between interacting atoms, it is found that oxTAM exhibits excellent carrier abilities for the delivery of FU (-1.53 eV & 2.00 Å) and NU (-1.33 eV & 2.12 Å) drugs. NCI and QTAIM results indicate the presence of hydrogen bonding in drug-carrier complexes. The values of dipole moment and global chemical descriptors show the significant reactivity of oxTAM for NU and FU drugs. Based on electronic property analysis, FU@oxTAM has a higher adsorption trend for complexation with oxTAM as compared to NU@oxTAM. Moreover, FU can easily release from the carrier due to the decreasing adsorption stability after protonation under an acidic environment as well as a short recovery time observed for the oxTAM carrier surface. Keeping in view all the above parameters, we inferred that oxTAM can serve as a potential drug delivery system for anticancer drugs including, Nitrosourea and Fluorouracil drugs.

Here the impact of cotton shells derived biochar (BC) and silicon-nanoparticles loaded biochar (nano-Si-BC) was explored on soil As immobilization and its phytotoxicity in barley plants in a greenhouse study.
