Abstract When examining specimens of the Janeirona Distant, 1911 clade of Ochlerini (Discocephalinae) we found males and females of two undescribed species. Though clearly similar to the genera in the Janeirona clade, these two species lack the diagnostic characteristics of any of them. We made a cladistic analysis to verify the placement of the two new species in Discocephalinae. A total of 38 taxa and 60 morphological characters were included in the analysis. Character polarization followed the outgroup comparison method, and the most parsimonious trees were calculated in TNT using an implied weighting approach. The analysis resulted in one most parsimonious tree where the two new species form a monophyletic group within the Ochlerini, sister to Janeirona. We propose Paropsocolis Sampaio & Campos, gen. nov. for the two new species Paropsocolis convergens Sampaio & Campos, sp. nov. and Paropsocolis divergens Sampaio & Campos, sp. nov.. The new genus is recognized by having an inconspicuous labial intercalary segment, metasternum anteriorly carinated, parameres with a basal dish-shaped process and a bifurcated apex, theca with one apical ventral process, endosoma with one dorsal and one ventral processes, laterotergites IX surpassing the mediotergite VIII, and thickening of vaginal intima circular. P. convergens Sampaio & Campos, sp. nov. and P. divergens Sampaio & Campos, sp. nov. are described to Brazil. A distributional map is provided.

Abstract The Asopinae comprises about 300 species and 63 genera of predatory stinkbugs, of which around 100 species and 23 genera occur in the Neotropical region. The species of the Neotropical genus Heteroscelis Latreille, 1829 are easily recognized by the small size, vivid and often iridescent colors, the elongated head, and the foretibial foliaceous expansions. In this work we provide a taxonomic revision of Heteroscelis. The genus and its four known species are redescribed, and one new species from Colombia, Heteroscelis vandembergi Sampaio & Campos, sp.nov., is proposed. A distribution map, and a key to the species of Heteroscelis are presented.

Abstract The 6G paradigm and the massive usage of interconnected wireless devices introduced the need for flexible wireless networks. A promising approach lies in employing Mobile Robotic Platforms (MRPs) to create communications cells on-demand. The challenge consists in positioning the MRPs to improve the wireless connectivity offered. This is exacerbated in millimeter wave (mmWave), Terahertz (THz), and visible light-based networks, which imply the establishment of short-range, Line of Sight (LoS) wireless links to take advantage of the ultra-high bandwidth channels available. This paper proposes a solution to enable the obstacle-aware, autonomous positioning of MRPs and provide LoS wireless connectivity to communications devices. It consists of 1) a Vision Module that uses video data gathered by the MRP to determine the location of obstacles, wireless devices and users, and 2) a Control Module, which autonomously positions the MRP based on the information provided by the Vision Module. The proposed solution was validated in simulation and through experimental testing, showing that it is able to position an MRP while ensuring LoS wireless links between a mobile communications cell and wireless devices or users.

Abstract This special issue of Zootaxa is published in honor of Dr. Jocélia Grazia (Fig. 1) from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, one of the world's most respected and influential active taxonomists in Heteroptera. Though she retired from her long-time position as a Full Professor, away from undergraduate classes and administrative duties, Jocélia is still an active researcher and passionate about studying true bugs. An intense conviction she passes to her many students and becomes evident in her publications. If there is one word to define Jocélia Grazia, it is energy. Even the most novice and inexperienced student perceives the enthusiasm and dedication Jocélia faces from the small bureaucratic problems through the most challenging scientific questions.

Abstract Humanity did surprisingly well so far, considering how unprepared it was to respond to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat. By blending old and ingenious new technology in the context of the accumulated knowledge on other human coronaviruses, several vaccine candidates were produced and tested in clinical trials in record time. Today, five vaccines account for the bulk of the more than 13 billion doses administered worldwide. The ability to elicit biding and neutralizing antibodies most often against the spike protein is a major component of the protection conferred by immunization but alone it is not enough to limit virus transmission. Thus, the surge in numbers of infected individuals by newer variants of concern (VOCs) was not accompanied by a proportional increase in severe disease and death rate. This is likely due to antiviral T-cell responses, whose evasion is more difficult to achieve. The present review helps navigating the very large literature on T cell immunity induced by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and vaccination. We examine the successes and shortcomings of the vaccinal protection in the light of the emergence of VOCs with breakthrough potential. SARS-CoV-2 and human beings will likely coexist for a long while: it will be necessary to update existing vaccines to improve T-cell responses and attain better protection against COVID-19.

Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance: Mikania glomerata (MG) and Mikania laevigata (ML) leaves are used interchangeably in Brazilian ethno-medicine, mainly for the treatment of respiratory diseases, but there is no clinical trial for the safety evaluation of these species at different doses.
Aim of the study: To evaluate the safety of two oral solutions from each species, across two weeks of use and two doses.
Materials and methods: A randomized, open-label, multiple dose, two-arm trial. Participants (n = 19) were randomly allocated to one of the arms of the trial. Group 1 received 15 mL of MG oral solution twice daily for 7 days and then 30 mL twice daily for 7 days. Group 2 received ML oral solution in the same manner. After 14 days, the participants went through a washout period of 7 days before cross-over to the other group. Adverse events (AEs), clinical parameters and blood markers were monitored at the beginning (T0) and at the end of each week of the study, which was concluded after six weeks. AEs were classified as mild, moderate or severe, and according to their correlation with the medicine intake, the measured parameters were compared to T0 by generalized estimating equations (GEE) to determine those affected by the use of the oral solutions (p < 0.05).
Results: MG was not correlated to any of the reported AEs; its use affected three of the evaluated parameters: total protein, diastolic blood pressure and urea, although all the changes were within the normal range for healthy individuals. ML was correlated to one moderate AE of pyrosis and the alteration of 12 parameters: erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, monocytes, time of prothrombin, time of thromboplastin, albumin, alkaline phosphatase, total protein, urea, potassium and sodium. All changes were within the normal range for healthy individuals.
Conclusion: ML and MG are considered safe for humans under the dose regimen tested.
