Abstract Excessive ultraviolet B ray (UVB) exposure to sunlight results in skin photoageing. Our previous research showed that a Q-switched 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser can alleviate skin barrier damage through miR-24-3p. However, the role of autophagy in the laser treatment of skin photoageing is still unclear. This study aims to investigate whether autophagy is involved in the mechanism of Q-switched 1064 nm Nd: YAG in the treatment of skin ageing. In vitro, primary human dermal fibroblast (HDF) cells were irradiated with different doses of UVB to establish a cell model of skin photoageing. In vivo, SKH-1 hairless mice were irradiated with UVB to establish a skin photoageing mouse model and irradiated with laser. The oxidative stress and autophagy levels were detected by western blot, immunofluorescence and flow cytometer. String was used to predict the interaction protein of TGF-β1, and CO-IP and GST-pull down were used to detect the binding relationship between TGFβ1 and ITGB1. In vitro, UVB irradiation reduced HDF cell viability, arrested cell cycle, induced cell senescence and oxidative stress compared with the control group. Laser treatment reversed cell viability, senescence and oxidative stress induced by UVB irradiation and activated autophagy. Autophagy agonists or inhibitors can enhance or attenuate the changes induced by laser treatment, respectively. In vivo, UVB irradiation caused hyperkeratosis, dermis destruction, collagen fibres reduction, increased cellular senescence and activation of oxidative stress in hairless mice. Laser treatment thinned the stratum corneum of skin tissue, increased collagen synthesis and autophagy in the dermis, and decreased the level of oxidative stress. Autophagy agonist rapamycin and autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine (3-MA) can enhance or attenuate the effects of laser treatment on the skin, respectively. Also, we identified a direct interaction between TGFB1 and ITGB1 and participated in laser irradiation-activated autophagy, thereby inhibiting UVB-mediated oxidative stress further reducing skin ageing. Q-switched 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser treatment inhibited UVB-induced oxidative stress and restored skin photoageing by activating autophagy, and TGFβ1 and ITGB1 directly incorporated and participated in this process.

Abstract Photocatalysis is an eco-friendly method to regenerate nicotinamide (NADH) cofactors, which is essential for biotransformation over oxidoreductases. Organic polymers exhibit high stability, biocompatibility and functional designability as photocatalysts, but still suffering from rapid charge recombination. Herewith the heteroatom structural engineering of donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) conjugated porous polymers were conducted to promote charge transfer and photocatalytic NADH regeneration. The electron delocalization of polymer photocatalysts can be readily tuned by changing the electron density of the donor unit, leading to faster charge separation and better photocatalytic performance. The optimum sulfur-doped polymer exhibits the highest NADH regeneration yield of 47.4 % in 30 min and 94.1 % in 4 h, which can drive the biocatalytic C=C bond reduction of 2-cyclohexen-1-one by ene-reductase, giving the corresponding cyclohexanone yield of 96.7 % in 10 h. Moreover, the oxygen-doped polymer, from biomass derived 2,5-diformylfuran, exhibits comparable photocatalytic activity to the sulfur-doped CPP, suggesting the potential of furan as alternative donor unit to thiophene.

Abstract The enantioselective synthesis of chiral diarylmethanols is highly desirable in synthetic chemistry and the pharmaceutical industry, but it remains challenging, especially in terms of green and sustainable production. Herein, a resin-immobilized palladium acetate catalyst was fabricated with high activity, stability, and reusability in Suzuki cross-coupling reaction of acyl halides with boronic acids, and the coimmobilization of alcohol dehydrogenase and glucose dehydrogenase on resin supports was also conducted for asymmetric bioreduction of diaryl ketones. Experimental results revealed that the physicochemical properties of the resins and the immobilization modes played important roles in affecting their catalytic performances. These two catalysts enabled the construction of a chemoenzymatic cascade for the enantioselective synthesis of a series of chiral diarylmethanols in high yields (83-90%) and enantioselectivities (87-98% ee). In addition, the asymmetric synthesis of the antihistaminic and anticholinergic drugs (

Abstract Traditional liquid-solid extraction methods for the removal of zinc ions (Zn(II)) were generally limited by the leakage of extractant and low extraction capacity. The two-component Pickering emulsion hydrogels (PEHGs) in which the synergistic 2-ethylhexyl hydrogen-2-ethylhexylphosphate/tributyl phosphate (EHEHPA/TBP) was encapsulated in a semi-penetrating polymer network (SIPN) structured hydrogels polyacrylamide/sodium alginate (PAM/SA) were prepared by the Pickering emulsions polymerization route. The PEHGs were characterized by FTIR, SEM, TGA, and tensile mechanical measurements, and their self-healing properties were explored. The adsorption performance of PEHGs on Zn(II) was investigated. The results showed that the encapsulation of the extractant reached 95% due to the hydrogels network and nano-silica (nano-SiO

Abstract Objectives. This study is aimed at investigating the analgesic effect of the administration of Corydalis decumbens (CD) in a mouse model of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and at elucidating its mechanism of analgesic action. Methods. Adult Kunming (KM) mice were randomly divided into control, CD, and vehicle-treated groups. Neuropathic pain was induced with a single intraperitoneal injection of resiniferatoxin (RTX). Thermal hyperalgesia was assessed with a hot/cold plate test, and mechanical allodynia was evaluated using von Frey filaments. The activation states of astrocytes, microglia, and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway in the spinal cord were determined by immunofluorescence staining and Western blot analysis of Iba-1, GFAP, phospho-p38, and phospho-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). Results. RTX diminished thermal sensitivity and gradually increased sensitivity to tactile stimulation. The expression of Iba-1, GFAP, phospho-p38 MAPK, and phospho-JNK was upregulated in the RTX-induced postherpetic neuralgia mouse model. Systemic treatment with CD significantly ameliorated thermal sensitivity and mechanical hyperalgesia and was accompanied by a reduction in the expression of Iba-1 and GFAP and reduced phosphorylation of p38 and JNK. Conclusions. This study suggests that CD is effective at ameliorating mechanical hyperalgesia in PHN mice and that its mechanism of action may involve modulation of MAPK phosphorylation and glial cell activation. Thus, CD may be a promising alternative therapy for PHN.
