    Abstract This article presents an integrated system that uses the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to perform a comprehensive crop analysis, combining qualitative and quantitative evaluations for efficient agricultural management. A convolutional neural network-based model, Detectron2, serves as the foundation for detecting and segmenting objects of interest in acquired aerial images. This model was trained on a dataset prepared using the COCO format, which features a variety of annotated objects. The system architecture comprises a frontend and a backend component. The frontend facilitates user interaction and annotation of objects on multispectral images. The backend involves image loading, project management, polygon handling, and multispectral image processing. For qualitative analysis, users can delineate regions of interest using polygons, which are then subjected to analysis using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) or Optimized Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (OSAVI). For quantitative analysis, the system deploys a pre-trained model capable of object detection, allowing for the counting and localization of specific objects, with a focus on young lettuce crops. The prediction quality of the model has been calculated using the AP (Average Precision) metric. The trained neural network exhibited robust performance in detecting objects, even within small images.

    Abstract Background: Membrane rafts play a crucial role in the regulation of many important biological processes. Our previous data suggest that specific interactions of flotillins with MPP1 are responsible for membrane raft domain organization and regulation in erythroid cells. Interaction of the flotillin-based protein network with specific membrane components underlies the mechanism of raft domain formation and regulation, including in cells with low expression of MPP1.
    Methods: We sought to identify other flotillin partners via the immobilized recombinant flotillin-2-based affinity approach and mass spectrometry technique. The results were further confirmed via immunoblotting and via co-immunoprecipitation. In order to study the effect of the candidate protein on the physicochemical properties of the plasma membrane, the gene was knocked down via siRNA, and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy and spot-variation fluorescence correlation spectroscopy was employed.
    Results: EFR3A was identified as a candidate protein that interacts with flotillin-2. Moreover, this newly discovered interaction was demonstrated via overlay assay using recombinant EFR3A and flotillin-2. EFR3A is a stable component of the detergent-resistant membrane fraction of HeLa cells, and its presence was sensitive to the removal of cholesterol. While silencing the EFR3A gene, we observed decreased order of the plasma membrane of living cells or giant plasma membrane vesicles derived from knocked down cells and altered mobility of the raft probe, as indicated via fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy and spot-variation fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. Moreover, silencing of EFR3A expression was found to disturb epidermal growth factor receptor and phospholipase C gamma phosphorylation and affect epidermal growth factor-dependent cytosolic Ca
    Conclusions: Altogether, our results suggest hitherto unreported flotillin-2-EFR3A interaction, which might be responsible for membrane raft organization and regulation. This implies participation of this interaction in the regulation of multiple cellular processes, including those connected with cell signaling which points to the possible role in human health, in particular human cancer biology.

    Abstract Background: Intracranial germinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the central nervous system (CNS) that occurs in children and young adults. The aim of our study was to assess the initial manifestation of the disease, and to find differences in outcomes dependent on time of diagnosis.
    Methods: The study group consisted of 35 consecutive patients (adults and children) who were treated for intracranial germinoma with radiotherapy at a tertiary centre, and their data were retrospectively collected. We evaluated time from the first symptoms to diagnosis and divided patients into early and delayed diagnosis groups. Delayed diagnosis has been defined as the time from initial presentation to final diagnosis longer than six months.
    Results: A total of 17 (48.6%) of the patients had delayed diagnoses. Patient survival data spanned a median of six (interquartile range 3-12) years. At the time of the diagnosis, patients presented exclusively neurological symptoms in 16 (45.7%) cases, exclusively endocrinological symptoms in five (14.3%) cases, and mixed symptoms in the remaining cases (
    Conclusion: Our study stresses the need for timely diagnosis in intracranial germinoma, as a delay has a significant impact on the prognosis. In particular, if the tumour is small or causes exclusively endocrinological symptoms, the diagnosis may be difficult and delayed.

    Abstract Background and aims: Despite the inclusion of the Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD) in the International Classification of Diseases, very little is known about the underlying affective and cognitive processes. To fill this gap, we compared CSBD subjects and Healthy-Controls (HC) across negative/positive valence, cognitive and sensorimotor systems, as proposed by the Research Domain Criteria framework.
    Methods: 74 heterosexual CSBD and 66 matched HC males were studied with 10 questionnaires and 8 behavioral tasks. Analyses were conducted with frequent and Bayesian statistics.
    Results: CSBD individuals showed significantly higher (than HC) punishment sensitivity, anxiety, depression, compulsivity, and impulsivity symptoms. Frequentist statistical analysis revealed significant interaction between subject group and condition in Incentive Delay Task, concerning the strength of motivation and hedonic value of erotic rewards. Bayesian analysis produced evidence for the absence of group differences in Facial Discrimination Task, Risk-Ambiguity Task, and Learning Task. Also, Bayesian methods provided evidence for group differences in the Emotional Stroop Task and the Incentive Delay Task. Sexual Discounting Task, Attentional Network Task, and Stop Signal Task produced mixed results.
    Conclusions: Higher punishment sensitivity and impulsivity among CSBD subjects, along with significant interaction between these groups and erotic vs. non-erotic reward processing is in line with previous findings on negative/positive valence alterations in CSBD patients. This result shows that there are similarities to substance and behavioral addictions. The absence of group differences and mixed results related to cognitive and sensorimotor systems raise concerns to what extent CSBD resembles a wide spectrum of impairments observed in disorders, and demand further research.

    Abstract Myosin V (myoV), a processive cargo transporter, has arguably been the most well-studied unconventional myosin of the past decade. Considerable structural information is available for the motor domain, the IQ motifs with bound calmodulin or light chains, and the cargo-binding globular tail, all of which have been crystallized. The repertoire of adapter proteins that link myoV to a particular cargo is becoming better understood, enabling cellular transport processes to be dissected. MyoV is processive, meaning that it takes many steps on actin filaments without dissociating. Its extended lever arm results in long 36-nm steps, making it ideal for single molecule studies of processive movement. In addition, electron microscopy revealed the structure of the inactive, folded conformation of myoV when it is not transporting cargo. This review provides a background on myoV, and highlights recent discoveries that show why myoV will continue to be an active focus of investigation.

    Abstract Background: The aim of this study was to perform anthropometrical measure- ments of patients' hands with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in order to evaluate if there is a correlation between CTS occurrence and hand features regarding sexual dimorphism, age and physical activity.
    Materials and methods: Study sample consisted of 48 patients (33 females) and control group included 80 healthy volunteers (58 females) with no history of CTS. The following measurements were performed: the wrist circumference, length of the hand, the hand's width, width of the wrist, thickness of the wrist, height of the hypothenar and thenar, length of the arm and forearm, circumference of the proximal phalanges and width of the digits; as well as several indexes were calculated i.e.: body mass index (BMI), shape index, digit index, wrist index, hand length/height ratio (HLH-ratio) and hand length/upper limb length ratio (HLULL-ratio).
    Results: Correlation coincidences were analysed between circumferences within the hand, palm and body weight. All parameters except fingers were correlated with body weight in either gender in both groups (p < 0.05; r = 0.40-0.80); Furthermore, width of the hand was correlated with body height (p < 0.001; r = 0.56-0.71). Mean values of wrist index for CTS patients were: males: 0.8, females: 0.74 (significantly higher than in healthy individuals and indicating square shape); shape index: males 76.5, females 75.8; digit index: males 55.7, females 56.5. The calculated HLH-ratio in CTS group was: males 10.6, females 10.9; HLULL-ratio: males 23.6, females 24.9 and they did not differ significantly from healthy volunteers. Almost 90.0% of females with diagnosed CTS have BMI > 25.0 kg/m2.
    Conclusions: There are significant differences in morphometrical features of the upper limbs between CTS patients and healthy individuals. Hands of patients with CTS are more massive and with 'plumb' fingers and square shape of the wrist. Furthermore, higher BMI values were confirmed to be predisposing factors in CTS occurrence.

    Abstract Smooth septum interatrial septum, patent foramen ovale (PFO) channel and atrial septal pouches (SPs) are commonly described variants in humans. Recent discoveries on the clinical significance of left-sided SP may encourage the creation of new strategies and devices for the management of SPs. However, these strategies may first be tested in the ovine model before implementation in humans. Unfortunately, little is known about the presence of SPs in ovine. In this study a total of 60 ovine (Ovis aries) hearts were examined. The interatrial septum morphology was assessed and the PFO channel and SPs were measured. The most commonly occurring variant were PFO channels (25.0%) with channel lengths of 5.4±2.3 mm. Smooth septums were observed in 18.3% of hearts. In the remaining cases, septums had a left septal ridge (15.0%), left SP (11.7%), left septal bridge (10.0%), right SP (10.0%), or had both a right SP and left septal ridge (10.0%). No double SPs were observed. The mean right SP depth was 3.4 ± 1.2 mm, and its mean ostium width and height were 7.9±1.8 mm and 2.8±1.0, respectively. For the left SP, the mean depth was 6.0±1.7mm, the ostium width was 7.9±2.4mm, and the ostium height was 4.1±1.6mm (range: 2.3-6.4mm). In conclusion the interatrial septum of ovine hearts exhibit morphologies that are more similar to humans than they are to swine, which should be taken into account during experimental studies. The presence of a left SP in sheep hearts make ovine models a promising alternative to the human heart for developing left-sided SP management devices and techniques.

    Abstract In this paper, the Pt-catalyzed hydrosilylation of hydroxyl ethers is described. Various bifunctional alkoxysilanes were obtained and applied in O-silylation of free hydroxyl groups on the silica surface. These modified solid materials have been used as excellent supports for linking synthetic nucleic acids. Nucleic acids permanently attached to the solid surface were tested in hybridization with complementary fluorescence-labeled sequences. Detection of nucleic acids anchored to the solid support was performed by fluorescence microscopy after hybridization.
