Abstract Objective: To analyze the relationship between therapeutic hypothermia (TH) and whole blood high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
Method: Retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of hospitalized infants diagnosed with asphyxia in our neonatal intensive care unit from January 2014 to June 2021. According to whether TH was performed, they were divided into two groups, the control group (missed the time in other hospitals and did not receive TH) and the treatment group (TH group). In their first ten days, analysis was made on the hs-CRP, white blood cell (WBC) count, neutrophil percentage, platelet count (PLT), and brain MRI. The correlation analysis was carried out based on the severity of brain injury displayed by the brain MRI and the time of hs-CRP elevation to summarize the relationship between TH and the time of hs-CRP elevation and the severity of HIE.
Results: 83 infants were included, 28 in the control group and 55 in the TH group. After birth, 33 infants (60.0%) in the TH group and 2 patients (7.1%) in the control group had elevated hs-CRP, which was statistically significant (
Conclusions: TH can increase the blood hs-CRP of HIE neonates, and the probability of its occurrence is related to the severity of HIE. The heavier the HIE, the higher the risk of hs-CRP elevation after TH; The hs-CRP elevation has little to do with infection, and it doesn't recommend using antibiotics actively.

Abstract Extracellular matrix (ECM) has been implicated in tumor progress and chemosensitivity. Ovarian cancer brings a great threat to the health of women with a significant feature of high mortality and poor prognosis. However, the potential significance of matrix stiffness in the pattern of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) expression and ovarian cancer drug sensitivity is still largely unkown. Here, based on RNA-seq data of ovarian cancer cell cultured on substrates with different stiffness, we found that a great amount of lncRNAs were upregulated in stiff group, whereas SNHG8 was significantly downregulated, which was further verified in ovarian cancer cells cultured on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) hydrogel. Knockdown of SNHG8 led to an impaired efficiency of homologous repair, and decreased cellular sensitivity to both etoposide and cisplatin. Meanwhile, the results of the GEPIA analysis indicated that the expression of SNHG8 was significantly decreased in ovarian cancer tissues, which was negatively correlated with the overall survival of patients with ovarian cancer. In conclusion, matrix stiffening related lncRNA SNHG8 is closely related to chemosensitivity and prognosis of ovarian cancer, which might be a novel molecular marker for chemotherapy drug instruction and prognosis prediction.

Abstract Infantile Malignant Osteopetrosis (IMO) is a rare, severe autosomal recessive form of osteopetrosis. Here, the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) extracted from a patient with IMO carrying a compound heterozygous mutation in T cell immune regulator 1, ATPase H + transporting V0 subunit a3 (TCIRG1) gene (c.242delC; c.1114C > T) were successfully reprogrammed using Sendai virus encoding the four Yamanaka factors. The generated hiPSCs, IMO-hiPSCs, displayed typical embryonic stem cell-like morphology and were verified by expression of pluripotency markers such as OCT4, SOX2, NANOG, TRA-1-60 and SSEA4, as well as in vivo and in vitro differentiation into derivatives of three germ layers.

Abstract A multicolor persistent luminescence solid polymeric system based on macrocycle-confined phosphorescence energy transfer was constructed with γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) and poly(vinyl alcohol) modified by triphenylene derivative (TP-PVA). Attributed to the fact that macrocycles effectively suppress the aggregation of guests and form a rigid environment via coassembling with the polymer, the phosphorescence lifetime of the yielded polymeric films is prolonged from 0.22 to 5.84 s, accompanied by a visible afterglow of more than 1 min. Furthermore, upon doping with several commercial dyes, full-color afterglow emissions with a duration of more than 50 s are realized through phosphorescence energy transfer. Notably, the multicolor-emitting-afterglow materials are successfully exploited for noctilucent lighting and anticounterfeiting ink.
