Abstract In a recent study , it was found that as many as 60% of US enterprises don’t have IT disaster recovery plans. The majority of IT disaster re covery planning guides are either inconsistent or so complicated that the average IT department can’t commit the resources to completing them. In either case, the results are the same: the organization is not prepared to cope with IT - related disasters. Thi s study reports on the IT DR planning practices of 154 banks in the United States. Surprisingly, neither IT budget nor IT department size were found to be common denominators among organizations with adequate IT disaster recovery plans. The results of the study indicate that well - prepared firms perform some variation of the following seven activities: conduct IT service analysis, provide employee training, select methods of IT disaster identification and notification, define backup procedures, determine of fsite storage locations, determine recovery procedures, and perform ongoing maintenance.

Abstract Background: The presence of anti-HLA donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) is associated with antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) and inferior graft survival. However, recent data suggest that ~50% of AMR episodes are IgG DSA negative and possibly related to non-HLA DSAs. After the initial activation of B cells to alloantigen, IgM is the first immunoglobulin produced. In addition, both IgM and IgG isotopes can activate the classic complement pathway and induce complement-dependent cytotoxicity to allograft targets. Current practices focus on the assessment of IgG DSAs with little concern for the assessment of IgM DSAs.
Methods: Here, we examined anti-HLA IgM in a cohort of 22 patients who developed de novo IgG DSAs by a modified single-antigen bead-based test.
Results: We found IgM HLA DSAs developed before IgG DSAs. The median time from the detection of IgM DSAs to the appearance of de novo IgG DSAs was 461 d. Most patients had IgM DSAs against the same HLA-DQ antigens, for which IgG de novo DSAs were also later detected. IgM DSAs were detected in patients with biopsies suspected of AMR.
Conclusions: The detection of IgM DSAs could be an early indicator of alloimmune responses to allografts before IgG de novo DSAs appear.

Abstract The aim of this study is to inventory and study ethnobotanical knowledge of edible plants in the Valencian Community (Spain). In respect to culinary uses, 92 species of plant were reported to be edible, finding the following uses: 58 raw, 52 cooked, 16 fried, 7 dried, 21 in liquors and beverages, 25 in dessert and sweets, 11 as seasoning, 17 in pickles, and 10 to curdle milk. We prepared a database that includes genus, family, scientific, and vernacular names in Spanish and Catalan for each plant. We also created a classification of nine edible uses and plant parts used, being Asteraceae (n = 18), Brassicaceae (n = 7), Chenopodiaceae (n = 6), and Rosaceae (n = 6) the families most characterized for gastronomic purposes. The species with the most elevated cultural importance (CI) values were

Abstract Despite established sex differences in the prevalence and presentation of psychiatric disorders, little is known about the cellular and synaptic mechanisms that guide these differences under basal conditions. Proper function of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) is essential for the top-down regulation of motivated behaviors. Activity of the PFC is tightly controlled by parvalbumin-expressing interneurons (PV-INs), a key subpopulation of fast-spiking GABAergic cells that regulate cortical excitability through direct innervations onto the perisomatic regions of nearby pyramidal cells. Recent rodent studies have identified notable sex differences in PV-IN activity and adaptations to experiences such as binge drinking. Here, we investigated the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie sex-specific regulation of PFC PV-IN function. Using whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology and selective pharmacology, we report that PV-INs from female mice are more excitable than those from males. Moreover, we find that mGlu

Abstract The near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)-derived cerebral oximetry index (COx) has become popularized for non-invasive neuromonitoring of cerebrovascular function in post-cardiac arrest patients with hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI). We provide commentary on the physiologic underpinnings and assumptions of NIRS and the COx, potential confounds in the context of HIBI, and the implications for the assessment of cerebral autoregulation.

Abstract The development of clinical reasoning skills is a high priority during clinical service, but an unpredictable case load and limited time for formal instruction makes it challenging for faculty to foster and assess students' individual clinical reasoning skills. We developed an assessment for learning activity that helps students build their clinical reasoning skills based on a modified version of the script concordance test (SCT). To modify the standard SCT, we simplified it by limiting students to a 3-point Likert scale instead of a 5-point scale and added a free-text box for students to provide justification for their answer. Students completed the modified SCT during clinical rounds to prompt a group discussion with the instructor. Student feedback was positive, and the instructor gained valuable insight into the students' thought process. A modified SCT can be adopted as part of a multimodal approach to teaching on the clinic floor. The purpose of this article is to describe our modifications to the standard SCT and findings from implementation in a clinical rounds setting as a method of formative assessment for learning and developing clinical reasoning skills.
