Abstract Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of using the vergence formula to screen myopia in children and adolescents.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted between December 2022 and May 2023 at the ophthalmology clinic of Beijing Tongren Hospital. A total of 336 children aged 6 to 12 years with refractive errors were selected according to the inclusion criteria. Biometric measurements, including axial length, corneal thickness, anterior chamber depth, corneal curvature, and lens thickness, were obtained using a biometer. The Calculated spherical equivalent (SE) was then calculated using the vergence formula. Cycloplegic refraction was performed after paralysis of the ciliary muscle, and the subjective SE was recorded. A diagnosis of myopia was made if the subjective SE was ≤ -0.50 diopters.
Results: The AL/CR, subjective SE, and calculated SE were not normally distributed (
Conclusion: The vergence formula can be used to evaluate myopia in children and adolescents with relatively high accuracy without cycloplegic refraction.

Abstract The existing array antenna reliability evaluation method based on the n/k system is analyzed. As the failed T/R module's influence on the array antenna's performance is not considered, the reliability of the array antenna is overestimated. To improve the accuracy of the array antenna reliability evaluation, the performance changes caused by T/R failures in different locations are considered. The reliability evaluation method considering the performance changes is established. The performance and probability of the array antenna's state are calculated, and accurate reliability is obtained by calculating all the available state's probabilities. The complexity of the reliability evaluation method is analyzed, and the reliability evaluation method for large-scale array antennae is established. The large-scale array antenna is divided into several subarrays. The performance and reliability of each subarray are analyzed, and the array antenna's reliability is calculated through subarrays. The array antenna's performance changes are considered with the proposed method, the overestimation problem of the existing reliability evaluation method is solved, and the accuracy of the array antenna reliability evaluation is improved.

Abstract Background: Young breast cancer (YBC) patients demonstrate a heightened propensity for regional lymph node metastasis (RLNM) in contrast to cohorts across varying age demographics. The aim of our study was to identify clinicopathologic prognostic variables in YBC patients with RLNM and construct a practical and reliable nomogram for the prediction of overall survival (OS) using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.
Methods: Young individuals (≤40 years) with a diagnosis of breast cancer with RLNM were recognized from the SEER database between 2010 and 2015, and further randomly split into two cohorts: the training set (n=4,497) and the validation set (n=1,927). We first performed univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses to confirm independent survival predictors of OS. A novel prognostic nomogram was developed and evaluated using Harrell's concordance index (C-index), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration curves, and decision curve analysis (DCA). To make a clear distinction between high- and low-risk patients in terms of patient survival, Kaplan-Meier survival curves were assessed using the log-rank test.
Results: Nine risk factors were found as independent prognostic variables in predicting OS, including race, grade, histology, surgery, radiation, molecular subtype, American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) stage 7
Conclusions: In YBC patients with RLNM, we successfully established a unique nomogram to forecast the 2-, 3-, and 5-year OS. Clinicians may utilize this nomogram to pinpoint patients at higher risk and provide them with appropriate customized therapies.

While astaxanthin has many isomers, there are few studies comparing its physicochemical properties. Abstract Cord blood (CB) has been proven to be an alternative source of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) for clinical transplantation and has multiple advantages, including but not limited to greater HLA compatibility, lower incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), higher survival rates and lower relapse rates among patients with minimal residual disease. However, the limited number of HSCs in a single CB unit limits the wider use of CB in clinical treatment. Many efforts have been made to enhance the efficacy of CB HSC transplantation, particularly by ex vivo expansion or enhancing the homing efficiency of HSCs. In this chapter, we will document the major advances regarding human HSC ex vivo expansion and homing and will also discuss the possibility of clinical translation of such laboratory work.

Abstract Derived from bountiful marine organisms (predominantly algae, fauna, and microorganisms), marine polysaccharides and marine oligosaccharides are intricate macromolecules that play a significant role in the growth and development of marine life. Recently, considerable attention has been paid to marine polysaccharides and marine oligosaccharides as auspicious natural products due to their promising biological attributes. Herein, we provide an overview of recent advances in the miscellaneous biological activities of marine polysaccharides and marine oligosaccharides that encompasses their anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-diabetes mellitus, and anticoagulant properties. Furthermore, we furnish a concise summary of the underlying mechanisms governing the behavior of these biological macromolecules. We hope that this review inspires research on marine polysaccharides and marine oligosaccharides in medicinal applications while offering fresh perspectives on their broader facets.
