    Abstract Synergizing the reduction of air pollutants and carbon emissions (APCE) has become a critical tactic alternative to address the issue of climate change. Taking the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region of China as a case study, this paper explores the spatial and temporal distribution pattern of the coupling coordination degree (CCD) of combating APCE from 2011 to 2022, analyzes the dynamic change in CCD using the convergence test, and investigates the key factors affecting CCD via the Tobit regression model.     Abstract Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), a specialized DNA polymerase, is recognized as a promising biomarker for acute leukemia. Herein, taking the advantage of the self-mediated strand elongation property of TdT, a simple and sensitive method for TdT activity assay was developed based on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) labeling inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).     Abstract In this study, a new structure is proposed based on the body-centered cubic (BCC) lattice structure by adding a cubic truss in the center of the BCC structure and denoting it TLC (truss-lattice-cube). The different dimensions of the central cube can notably affect the mechanical properties of the lattice structure. With a fixed length (15 mm) of a unit cell, the optimal size for the central cube is determined to be 5 mm. Quasi-static compressive tests are performed on specimens made of polylactic acid (PLA) using additive manufacturing technology. The deformation characteristics of the new structure are analyzed in detail by experiments and numerical simulations. Compared to the BCC structure, the mechanical properties of the TLC structure were significantly improved. The initial flow stress of the TLC increased by 122% at a strain of 0.1; the specific strength enhanced by 293% at a strain of 0.5; and the specific energy absorption improved by 312% at a strain of 0.6. Printing defects in the lattice structure may remarkably damage its mechanical properties. In this work, incorporation of microcracks into the finite element model allows the simulation to capture the influence of printing defects and significantly improve the predictive accuracy of the simulation.

    Abstract The auditory organ cochlea harbors two types of sound receptors, inner hair cells (IHCs) and outer hair cells (OHCs), which are innervated by spiral (auditory) ganglion neurons (SGNs). Recent transcriptomic, epigenetic, and genetic studies have started to reveal various aspects of cochlear development, including how prosensory progenitors are specified and diversified into IHCs or OHCs, as well as the heterogeneity among SGNs and how SGN subtypes are formed. Here, we primarily review advances in this line of research over the past five years and discuss a few key studies (from the past two years) to elucidate (1) how prosensory progenitors are specified; (2) the cis-regulatory control of Atoh1 expression and the synergistic interaction between Atoh1 and Pou4f3; and (3) the essential roles of Insm1 and Ikzf2 in OHC development and Tbx2 in IHC development. Moreover, we highlight the contribution of recent molecular studies on cochlear development toward the goal of regenerating IHCs and OHCs, which holds considerable potential for application in treating human deafness. Lastly, we briefly summarize the most recent progress on uncovering when and how SGN diversity is generated.
