Abstract Objectives: We aimed to compare treatment outcomes of periodontal supra-bony defects using single flap (SFA) plus concentrate growth factor versus SFA alone
Methods: 32 supra-bony periodontal defects were randomly assigned to test and control groups. Outcome variables were clinical attachment level (primary outcome). Probing pocket depths, gingival recessions, bone gain, post-surgical pain using visual analogue scale and wound healing index were recorded as secondary outcomes. Clinical and radiographic assessments were recorded at baseline and 6 months after treatment, whereas pain score and wound healing index were recorded within 10 days after surgery.
Results: Test group showed a significant improvement in all tested parameters compared to control group (P-value ≤ 0.05). Better patient centered outcomes (wound healing and pain scores) were highly achieved in the test group compared to controls.
Conclusion: The tested combined approach offers better periodontal and patient centered treatment outcomes in management of periodontal supra-bony defects.

Abstract In this paper, a modified version of Dwarf Mongoose Optimization Algorithm (DMO) for feature selection is proposed. DMO is a novel technique of the swarm intelligence algorithms which mimic the foraging behavior of the Dwarf Mongoose. The developed method, named Chaotic DMO (CDMO), is considered a wrapper-based model which selects optimal features that give higher classification accuracy. To speed up the convergence and increase the effectiveness of DMO, ten chaotic maps were used to modify the key elements of Dwarf Mongoose movement during the optimization process. To evaluate the efficiency of the CDMO, ten different UCI datasets are used and compared against the original DMO and other well-known Meta-heuristic techniques, namely Ant Colony optimization (ACO), Whale optimization algorithm (WOA), Artificial rabbit optimization (ARO), Harris hawk optimization (HHO), Equilibrium optimizer (EO), Ring theory based harmony search (RTHS), Random switching serial gray-whale optimizer (RSGW), Salp swarm algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (SSAPSO), Binary genetic algorithm (BGA), Adaptive switching gray-whale optimizer (ASGW) and Particle Swarm optimization (PSO). The experimental results show that the CDMO gives higher performance than the other methods used in feature selection. High value of accuracy (91.9-100%), sensitivity (77.6-100%), precision (91.8-96.08%), specificity (91.6-100%) and F-Score (90-100%) for all ten UCI datasets are obtained. In addition, the proposed method is further assessed against CEC'2022 benchmarks functions.

Abstract Ecofriendly and stable Fuel Microemulsions based on renewable components were prepared through solubilizing ethanol in diesel and waste cooking oil blend (4:1). New diquaternary ammonium ionic liquids (3a & 3b) were synthesized through a quaternization reaction of the synthesized dihaloester with diethyl ethanolamine tridecantrioate and triethyl amine tridecantrioate, respectively. The chemical structures were elucidated by NMR spectroscopy. It was observed from DLS analyses that the ethanol particles in all samples have sizes between 4.77 to 11.22 nm. The distribution becomes narrower with the decrease in the ionic liquid concentrations. The fuel properties fall within the ASTM D975 acceptable specifications and are close to the neat diesel properties. The Cetane index were 53 and 53.5, heating values were 38.5 and 38.5 MJ/kg, viscosities were 2.91 and 2.98 mm

Abstract This study set out to formulate antibacterial and antioxidant gelatin boosted by cinnamaldehyde for combating multi-drug resistant bacteria previously obtained from chronic wounds. Towards this end, gelatin amine groups were conjugated with carbonyl groups of cinnamaldehyde, producing cinnamyl-gelatin Schiff bases. The physicochemical attributes of cinnamyl-gelatin Schiff bases were probed concerning alterations in chemical structures and microstructures compared to native gelatin. Besides, cinnamyl-gelatin Schiff bases exhibited higher thermal stability than gelatin, with a diminishing in solubility due to increases in hydrophobicity features. Interestingly, cinnamyl-gelatin derivatives exerted antibacterial activities versus multi-drug resistant Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, showing maximum growth inhibition at the highest concentration of cinnamaldehyde incorporated into gelatin. Abstract Indoxacarb is one of the most extensively used oxadiazine insecticides worldwide, but it may exert detrimental effects on ecosystems, population dynamics, and health. Due to the lack of knowledge on the ecotoxicity of indoxacarb, it is still challenging to assess whether this insecticide poses an ecotoxicological impact on terrestrial environments. Therefore, our study aims to provide novel data on the toxic effects of 28-day dietary exposure to commercial grade indoxacarb at two environmentally relevant concentrations, 0.02 µg/mL and tenfold (0.2 µg/mL) on the model species, Theba pisana. Their effects were studied using a multiple biomarker approach by evaluating physiological, biochemical, and histopathological responses. After 28 days of treatment, indoxacarb at both concentrations significantly reduced the food intake and growth of the treated snails. Also, it caused decreases in lipid peroxidation (LPO)  levels after 7 and 14 days of exposure, whereas an opposite effect occurred after 21 and 28 days. All treated snails were found to exhibit a lower content of glutathione (GSH) after all times of exposure. Moreover, catalase (CAT), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities, as well as protein content (PC), were elevated in the treated snails after all time intervals. Post exposure to both realistic indoxacarb concentrations, changes in acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity between a decrease and an increase were observed. Furthermore, indoxacarb caused histo-architectural changes in the hepatopancreas of T. pisana. Our results demonstrate that, at environmentally relevant concentrations, indoxacarb poses negative consequences for T. pisana, indicating its ecotoxicological impacts.
