Abstract Two-dimensional nanomaterials, particularly layered double hydroxides (LDHs), have been widely applied in the biomedical field owing to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, controllable drug release/loading ability, and enhanced cellular permeability. Since the first study analyzing intercalative LDHs in 1999, numerous studies have investigated their biomedical applications, including drug delivery and imaging; recent research has focused on the design and development of multifunctional LDHs. This review summarizes the synthetic strategies and in-vivo and in-vitro therapeutic actions and targeting properties of single-function LDH-based nanohybrids and recently reported (from 2019 to 2023) multifunctional systems developed for drug delivery and/or bio-imaging.

Abstract Kagome metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered a new class of materials that can host two-dimensional (2D) magnetism and correlated electron phenomena such as superconductivity and quantum anomalous Hall effect. Despite its potential for spintronics applications and others, the systematic understanding between the electronic structure and magnetic properties of kagome MOFs is still missing. This work determines the crystal structure, magnetic ground states, and anisotropy of a series of transition metal atoms and ligands from first-principles calculations. We reveal that the coexistence of covalent and ionic bonding characters of 3d orbitals is a distinctive feature of the 2D kagome MOFs. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the occupancies of active bands near the Fermi level are responsible for different superexchange mechanisms: the partially filled bands with empty for V and Co MOFs lead to antiferromagnetic ordering, and the partially filled bands with full for Mn, Fe, and Co MOFs lead to ferromagnetic ordering between transition metal ions. It is pointed out that the bands are formed through dpπ-hybridization between the transition metal d

Abstract In this study, we simultaneously measured the group refractive index dispersion and thickness of fused silica using a scanning white light interferometer on a spectral range from 800 to 1050 nm. A delay error correction was performed using a He-Ne laser. The accuracy of the measured group refractive index dispersion of fused silica, when compared to the temperature-dependent Sellmeier equation, is within 4 × 10

Abstract We developed a theoretical model for the relationship between the input and amplified laser beams of energy stability and spatial uniformity in the amplification process. 10 Hz, 8 ns, 1064 nm Nd:YAG Q-switched resonator with Nd:YAG main amplifier was employed for the experiment. The theoretical model simulation and Frantz-Nodvik simulation were performed by utilizing the obtained beam image, acquired energy from the experiment, and stored fluence from the gain medium. The result indicated that the fluctuation of the spatial distribution in a single beam influences the stability of temporally distributed energy during the amplification process of the laser beam, thereby improving energy stability.

Abstract Although nicotinic acid (NA) has several clinical benefits, its potency cannot be fully utilized due to several undesirable side effects, including cutaneous flushing, GIT-associated symptoms, etc. To overcome such issues and improve the NA efficacy, a new inorganic-organic nanohybrids system was rationally designed. For making such a hybrid system, NA was intercalated into LDH through a coprecipitation technique and then coated with Eudragit

Abstract Quantum dot (QD) light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) are promising for next-generation displays, but suffer from carrier imbalance arising from lower hole injection compared to electron injection. A defect engineering strategy is reported to tackle transport limitations in nickel oxide-based inorganic hole-injection layers (HILs) and find that hole injection is able to enhance in high-performance InP QLEDs using the newly designed material. Through optoelectronic simulations, how the electronic properties of NiO

Abstract Niclosamide (NIC), a conventional anthelmintic agent, is emerging as a repurposed drug for COVID-19 treatment. However, the clinical efficacy is very limited due to its low oral bioavailability resulting from its poor aqueous solubility. In the present study, a new hybrid drug delivery system made of NIC, montmorillonite (MMT), and Tween 60 is proposed to overcome this obstacle. At first, NIC molecules were immobilized into the interlayer space of cationic clay, MMT, to form NIC-MMT hybrids, which could enhance the solubility of NIC, and then the polymer surfactant, Tween 60, was further coated on the external surface of NIC-MMT to improve the release rate and the solubility of NIC and eventually the bioavailability under gastrointestinal condition when orally administered. Finally, we have performed an in vivo pharmacokinetic study to compare the oral bioavailability of NIC for the Tween 60-coated NIC-MMT hybrid with Yomesan

Abstract For optimizing steady-state performance in organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), both molecular design and structural alignment approaches must work in tandem to minimize energetic and microstructural disorders in polymeric mixed ionic-electronic conductor films. Herein, a series of poly(diketopyrrolopyrrole)s bearing various lengths of aliphatic-glycol hybrid side chains (PDPP-mEG; m = 2-5) is developed to achieve high-performance p-type OECTs. PDPP-4EG polymer with the optimized length of side chains exhibits excellent crystallinity owing to enhanced lamellar and backbone interactions. Furthermore, the improved structural ordering in PDPP-4EG films significantly decreases trap state density and energetic disorder. Consequently, PDPP-4EG-based OECT devices produce a mobility-volumetric capacitance product ([µC*]) of 702 F V
