    Abstract Air pollution shares the attributes of multi-factorial influence and spatiotemporal complexity, leading to air pollution control assistance models easily falling into a state of failure. To address this issue, we design a framework containing improved data fusion method, novel grey incidence models and air pollution spatiotemporal analysis to analyze the complex characteristics of air pollution under the fusion of multiple factors. Firstly, we improve the existing data fusion method for multi-factor fusion. Subsequently, we construct two grey spatiotemporal incidence models to examine the spatiotemporal characteristics of multi-factorial air pollution in network relationships and changing trends. Furthermore, we propose two new properties that can manifest the performance of grey incidence analysis, and we provide detailed proof of the properties of the new models. Finally, in the Jing-Jin-Ji region, the novel models are used to study the network relationships and trend changes of air pollution. The findings are as follows: (1) Two highly polluted belts in the region require attention. (2) Although the air pollution network under multi-factorial fusion obeys the first law of geography, the network density and node density exhibit significant variations.     Abstract ETHNIC PHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: "Yin-Jing" medicine (YJM) has been widely used by both ancient and modern Chinese medicine practitioners during long-term clinical practice. However, it remains unclear how to best guide other medicines to the targeted organs in a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription. Here, in an attempt to explain the scientific connotation of the YJM property (YJMP) attributed to a basic TCM theory, Platycodon grandiflorum (PG) was chosen as a case study to reveal the mystery of YJMP theory.
    Aim of the study: The main purpose of this study is to employ modern chemical and molecular biology methods to confirm the "Yin-Jing" effect of PG, and further clarify its material basis and related possible mechanism.
    Materials and methods: The ammonia-induced lung injury rat model was utilized to determine the optimal dosage of traditional prescription Hui Yan Zhu Yu decoction (HYZYD) using Wright Giemsa staining, HE staining, Masson staining, and TUNEL analysis. With the same way, PG was confirmed to have potentiating therapeutic effect (PTE) by comparison with HYZYD and [HYZYD-PG]. TMT proteomics was used to reveal the "Yin-Jing" mechanism of action.     Results: The HYZYD-M (medium dose group) significantly improved the lung injury level in a pneumonia model of rats. PG enhanced the therapeutic effect of HYZYD ascribed to Yin-Jing PTE functions.     Abstract The unsustainable exploitation of water resources and growing salinization impacting China's Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jing-Jin-Ji) agglomeration threatens the region's economic growth and drives the exploration of alternative resources. The region's industries face a financial burden due to increasing constraints on water exploitation and discharge regulations. These have resulted in increased industrial salt concentration rejections/discharges, meanwhile, constructed wetlands (CWs), deployed as a perfunctory receptacle for industrial effluents in the region, are underexploited for treating/removing salts. Also, halophytic plants local to the region have promising chloride uptake (60.6 g/kg and 256.0 g/kg of plant dry weight) and can reduce water conductivity by 40%. Exploitation of CWs, using local halophytes has not been explored for phytodesalination purposes in the region. Hence, this study analyses the water resource and salinization crisis in the agglomeration and further evaluates workable potential and critical technical considerations for using local halophytes in CWs to treat industrial salt-laden effluents. While acknowledging this intervention for removing industrial effluent salt may not meet compliance in the region, effluent post-phytodesalination presents opportunities for industries to meet regulatory stipulations on water reuse rates. Furthermore, such effluent may be used for irrigation and can ameliorate the salinization and groundwater exploitation crisis as a cleaner recharge source.

    Abstract Sheng Jing Decoction (SJD), as a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, is mainly be used to treat male infertility. However, the pharmacological functions and molecular mechanisms of SJD are poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the functions of SJD on spermatogenesis and sperm motility and explored the potential mechanisms involved. Here, we demonstrated that high, medium, and low doses of SJD are effective in restoring the impairments of the whole body and testicular tissue by cyclophosphamide inducing and to rescue the damage of testicular tissue cells including Sertoli cells and germ cells. SJD can partly restore the decrease in sperm concentration, sperm vitality, sperm motility, and normal sperm morphology rate in oligozoospermic mouse models. Ki67 staining analyses confirm SJD can promote testicular tissue cell proliferation. Real-time RT-PCR analyses also reveal that SJD can upregulate the expression of proliferation-associated gene

    Abstract Background: Simulating vegetation distribution is an effective method for identifying vegetation distribution patterns and trends. The primary goal of this study was to determine the best simulation method for a vegetation in an area that is heavily affected by human disturbance.
    Methods: We used climate, topographic, and spectral data as the input variables for four machine learning models (random forest (RF), decision tree (DT), support vector machine (SVM), and maximum likelihood classification (MLC)) on three vegetation classification units (vegetation group (I), vegetation type (II), and formation and subformation (III)) in Jing-Jin-Ji, one of China's most developed regions. We used a total of 2,789 vegetation points for model training and 974 vegetation points for model assessment.
    Results: Our results showed that the RF method was the best of the four models, as it could effectively simulate vegetation distribution in all three classification units. The DT method could only simulate vegetation distribution in units I and II, while the other two models could not simulate vegetation distribution in any of the units. Kappa coefficients indicated that the DT and RF methods had more accurate predictions for units I and II than for unit III. The three vegetation classification units were most affected by six variables: three climate variables (annual mean temperature, mean diurnal range, and annual precipitation), one geospatial variable (slope), and two spectral variables (Mid-infrared ratio of winter vegetation index and brightness index of summer vegetation index). Variables Combination 7, including annual mean temperature, annual precipitation, mean diurnal range and precipitation of driest month, produced the highest simulation accuracy.
    Conclusions: We determined that the RF model was the most effective for simulating vegetation distribution in all classification units present in the Jing-Jin-Ji region. The RF model produced high accuracy vegetation distributions in classification units I and II, but relatively low accuracy in classification unit III. Four climate variables were sufficient for vegetation distribution simulation in such region.

    Abstract The function of the sperm storage tubules is directly correlated with the fertility of laying hens. However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms regulating the fertility traits in chicken. To identify genetic markers associated with reproductive traits, we calculated fertility rate at 61 to 69 wk (51 D) of Jing Hong chickens parent generation as the phenotype and the genotype were detected by the chicken 600K Affymetrix Axiom High Density single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP)-array. The genome-wide association study using 190 Jing Hong hens showed that the 20 SNP in chromosomes 3 and 13 were significantly associated with fertility rate. To verify these results, a total of 1900 Jing Hong laying hens from 2 populations (P1 and P2) were further genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragments length polymorphisms method. The association analysis results revealed that 12 polymorphisms (AX-75769978, AX-76582632, AX-75730546, AX-75730496, AX-75730588, AX-76530282, AX-76530329, AX-76529310, AX-75769906, AX-75755394, AX-80813697 and AX-76582809) out of 20 showed highly significant effects (P < 0.0001) on fertility rate in P1, P2 and P1+P2. Six haplotypes (TTAA, TTGG, TTAG, CTAA, CTGG, and CTAG) were inferred based on significant loci (AX-75730546 and AX-76530282) also showed significant association with fertility rate, where haplotype CTAG was shown to be markedly associated with the significantly highest (P < 0.0001) fertility rate (in P1, 86.42 ± 0.59; P2, 85.98 ± 0.59 and P1+P2, 86.16 ± 0.42) followed by other haplotypes for the irrespective of population studied. Collectively, we report for the first time that 12 SNP in the chromosomes 3 and 13 were significantly associated with fertility rate during the later stage of egg production, which could be used as the potential genetic markers that would be able to facilitate in the selection and improvement of fertility rate through chicken breeding.

    Abstract Background: With the increased understanding of heart disease, microvascular angina (MVA) is receiving greater attention from clinicians. Studies have shown that patients with MVA have significantly higher major cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality than the control population, and the search for effective treatments is of great clinical importance. Both basic and clinical studies have shown that Qi-Jing Hui-Xin Decoction (QJHX) can relieve angina symptoms and improve clinical efficacy, but there is a lack of high-quality clinical studies to provide a research basis. This article introduces the evaluation protocol of QJHX for the adjunctive treatment of MVA.
    Methods/design: This is a prospective randomized controlled trial. The trial will enroll 150 patients with MVA. On the basis of Western drug treatment, patients will be randomized into two groups, and the experimental group will receive QJHX treatment for 12 weeks and follow-up at 24 week. The primary indicators are the clinical efficacy of angina pectoris and the evidence of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) efficacy. Secondary indicators are the Seattle Angina Scale score, serum lipid levels, electrocardiogram, and echocardiogram diagnosis. Additional indicators are endothelial function and immunoinflammatory factors. Adverse events will be monitored throughout the trial.
    Discussion: Integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine is commonly used for angina in China. This study will evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of adding QJHX based on standardized Western medications. The results of the trial will provide high-level clinical research-based evidence for the application of QJHX in MVA.

    Abstract Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a relatively complex disease characterized by narrowing of the arterial lumen and reduction of blood flow to the heart. There is no effective early diagnosis and prevention method. Jing Zhi Guan Xin Pian (JZGXP) is a new preparation prepared from the effective extract of Guanxin II. It is made of five components of traditional Chinese medicine and functions by promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis and is used for the treatment of CHD and angina pectoris. In our study, a CHD rat model was prepared using a high-fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injection of vitamin D3. Clinical biochemical indexes (TG, CHO and HDL-C), histopathology (coronary and myocardial tissue), electrocardiogram and cardiac indexes were used to evaluate the efficacy of JZGXP in the treatment of CHD model rats. UPLC-HDMS-based metabolomics techniques were used to find metabolic profiles, biomarkers and related metabolic pathways in CHD models and to evaluate the effects of JZGXP on them. At the same time, the targets of JZGXP for the treatment of CHD were analyzed. Our study ultimately identified 25 biomarkers associated with CHD models. Further studies found that these 25 biomarkers involved 9 metabolic pathways in the body and found that JZGXP can recall 21 biomarkers in the urine of model rats and these biomarkers involve nine metabolic pathways.
