Abstract Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is a common therapy used to treat breathing disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea. In previous work, we designed a custom-fit CPAP mask to address comfort and leakage issues patients often experience. This paper presents a method to create a finite element (FE) model to evaluate the fit of the custom-fit mask before fabrication. The model includes details such as a skull to represent the variable soft tissue thicknesses on the face, and two strap configurations, original and X. The model was tested on four subjects and results show that the X strap configuration results in a more even stress distribution, measured by standard deviation, on the face compared to the original strap, indicating better fit. The simulations also show gaps in the stress distribution that seem to correspond to areas of leakage based on two initial

Abstract Dragon fruit is gaining its popularity in all over the world. The seed of the dragon fruit is highly nutritious in terms of essential fatty acid. The utilization of seed oils is getting increasingly common these days. In this work, a comparative analysis was undertaken for control and microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) samples, using the RSM-CCD (Response Surface Methodology – Central composite Design) design, to determine the influences power and time on dragon fruit seed oil's Yield, PV, DPPH, and polyphenol content. The optimization was done, where the extraction yield (34.30 %), PV (3.23 me quiiv O2/kg), DPPH (69.65 %), and polyphenol (96.71 mg GAE/g) was observed. While comparing with the control sample the antioxidant activity of the seed oil in terms of (%DPPH, FRAP and ORAC) was better in microwave treated sample. The saturated fatty acid is 25 % with a monounsaturated fatty acid 20 % and Polyunsaturated fatty acid of 55 %. High amount of tocopherol content was determined having 93 % of γ -tocopherol. Dragon fruit seed oil has the possibility to be a good source for the functional components in the near future due to the presence of antioxidant compounds and essential fats.

Abstract Pulmonary embolism remains a disease which needs high clinical suspicion to prevent mortality and morbidity. More so in young healthy individuals, suspicion is very low as compared to old age individuals with multiple co-morbid conditions. Pulmonary embolism carries high mortality if not suspected and treatment initiated as early as possible. There are two case reports of young male individuals who presented as acute onset of breathlessness and later diagnosed and treated as a case of pulmonary thromboembolism.

Abstract Background: Tuberculosis and diabetes both diseases are present in large numbers in the country and we are major contributors to both globally. With the objective to understand the various traits of patients having both tuberculosis and diabetes and to ascertain various possible predictors for such occurrence based on the public health database we carried out this study. We seek answers to questions like they have any effects? Are they having any additive role to play?
Methods: One-year data from the NIKSHAY portal of both districts were analyzed to look for possible associations and other variable traits. Data were analyzed using standard methods to express data in frequency and percentage. Chi-square test was used to establish association, while step-wise approach was used to calculate univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis for knowing various predictors.
Results: Concurrent diabetes in tuberculosis patients was close to 294 (6%) in the 4933 individuals. In total, 65.2% of the study population were male. Diagnosis of tuberculosis was made most of the time by chest X-ray (49.4%) followed by Microscopy ZN staining and cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification test (CBNAAT). Death was more among diabetics (4.4%) as compared to nondiabetics (3.5%).
Conclusion: Diabetes is increasing in tuberculosis patients; improvement in data quality is needed. More research is required to reveal various other reasons that make tuberculosis patients more prone to develop diabetes.
