Abstract Background: This retrospective study was conducted to compare the safety and efficacy of Sun's tip-flexible semirigid ureterorenoscopy (tf-URS), super-mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (SMP) and flexible ureteroscopy (FURS) in treating upper urinary tract calculi, including upper ureteral or renal calculi.
Methods: We included patients with upper ureteral calculi or renal calculi 1.0-2.0 cm in size, who underwent tf-URS, SMP or FURS, respectively. The indicators reflecting safety and efficacy were compared among the three surgical techniques.
Results: SMP presented with higher single stone crushing success rate, but longer operation time and postoperative hospital stay, more blood loss, and higher postoperative pain score compared with FURS and tf-URS (P < 0.05). The hospitalization cost of tf-URS group was lower than that of SMP and FURS groups (P < 0.05). The incidence of postoperative fever in tf-URS group was significantly higher than that in SMP group (P < 0.05). No significant difference was found in mucosal injury, perirenal hematoma, and stone-free rate at 3 months after surgery (P > 0.05).
Conclusions: tf-URS and FURS have the advantages in minimal invasion, hospitalization cost, patient comfort, and hospital stay while SMP has higher stone-free rate. These three surgical techniques are safe, reliable and complementary, which should be selected according to the actual situation.

Abstract Background: Numerous prior studies have extensively highlighted the significance of the microbiome in association with asthma. While several studies have concentrated on the asthma microbiome in previous research, there is currently a lack of publications that employ bibliometric methods to assess this area.
Methods: In this study, the Web of Science Core Collection database was utilized as the data source, and the SCI-EXPANDED index was employed to ensure that the retrieved data were comprehensive and accurate. All original research articles and review articles related to the correlation between asthma and the microbiome were systematically searched from the inception of the database until June 20, 2023. These articles were subsequently visualized and analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace software.
Results: A total of 1366 relevant publications were acquired, indicating a consistent annual increase in global publications in the field. The United States and China emerged as the top two contributors to international publications. Among prolific authors, Susan V. Lynch achieved the highest publication record, with Hans Bisgaard and Jakob Stokholm sharing the second position. The majority of publications concentrated on allergy-related and microbiome areas, with a few comprehensive journals standing out. Journals with 40 or more publications included the
Conclusion: This study systematically presented a comprehensive overview of the literature regarding the association between asthma and the microbiome over the last two decades. Through a bibliometric perspective, the findings may assist researchers with a better understanding of the essential information in the field.

Abstract Objective: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation and liver resection in the therapeutic management of early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma.
Method: We conducted a comprehensive search of domestic and foreign databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang to retrieve literature on radiofrequency ablation and liver resection for the treatment of early hepatocellular carcinoma. The retrieved literature underwent thorough screening, and relevant data were extracted. Following the evaluation of the literature's quality, Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software.
Results: In this study, a total of 11 documents were selected, comprising 1334 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Meta-analysis results indicated that there was no statistically significant difference in the 1-year overall survival rate [Relative risk (RR) = 1.01, 95% confidence intervals (CI) (0.98; 1.04)] and the 3-year overall survival rate [RR = 0.95, 95% CI (0.90; 1.01)] between the radiofrequency ablation and liver resection groups (p > 0.05). Similarly, there was no statistically significant difference in the 1-year disease-free survival rate [RR = 0.94, 95% CI (0.87; 1.01)] between the two groups. However, the 3-year disease-free survival rate [RR = 0.84, 95% CI (0.74; 0.96)] of patients in the radiofrequency ablation group was significantly lower than that in the hepatectomy group (p < 0.05). Notably, the incidence of complications [RR = 0.42, 95% CI (0.33; 0.55)] was significantly lower in the radiofrequency ablation group compared to the hepatectomy group. Conversely, the local recurrence rate [RR = 1.45, 95% CI (1.22; 1.73)] was significantly higher in the radiofrequency ablation group compared to the hepatectomy group (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: During the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatectomy demonstrates superior clinical efficacy compared to radiofrequency ablation, particularly in its ability to control tumor recurrence. However, radiofrequency ablation presents with fewer complications and a higher level of safety. These findings can serve as a valuable foundation for clinicians when selecting the most suitable treatment approaches for liver cancer.

Abstract Cell membrane is crucial for the cellular activities, and any disruption to it may affect the cells. It is demonstrated that cell membrane perforation is associated with some biological processes like programmed cell death (PCD) and infection of pathogens. Specific developments make it a promising technique to perforate the cell membrane controllably and precisely. The pores on the cell membrane provide direct pathways for the entry and exit of substances, and can also cause cell death, which means reasonable utilization of cell membrane perforation is able to assist intracellular delivery, eliminate diseased or cancerous cells, and bring about other benefits. This review classifies the patterns of cell membrane perforation based on the mechanisms into 1) physical patterns, 2) biological patterns, and 3) chemical patterns, introduces the characterization methods and then summarizes the functions according to the characteristics of reversible and irreversible pores, with the aim of providing a comprehensive summary of the knowledge related to cell membrane perforation and enlightening broad applications in biomedical science.
