Abstract A series of asymmetric ureas were synthesized by a one-pot reaction of amines and carbonyl sulfide (COS) under catalyst-free conditions. The highly selective synthesis of asymmetric urea was successfully achieved by the use of weakly nucleophilic aromatic amines and highly nucleophilic secondary aliphatic amines. Moreover, a reaction mechanism was proposed based on the detailed NMR and FTIR study. This efficient synthetic methodology provides a mild and selective method for synthesizing asymmetric urea derivatives.

Abstract A rain-type adaptive pyramid Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (A-PKLT) optical flow method for radar echo extrapolation is proposed. This method introduces a rain-type classification algorithm that can classify radar echoes into six types: convective, stratiform, surrounding convective, isolated convective core, isolated convective fringe, and weak echoes. Then, new schemes are designed to optimize specific parameters of the PKLT optical flow based on the rain type of the echo. At the same time, the gradients of radar reflectivity in the fringe positions corresponding to all types of rain echoes are increased. As a result, corner points that are characteristic points used for PKLT optical flow tracking in the surrounding area will be increased. Therefore, more motion vectors are purposefully obtained in the whole radar echo area. This helps to describe the motion characteristics of the precipitation more precisely. Then, the motion vectors corresponding to each type of rain echo are merged, and a denser motion vector field is generated by an interpolation algorithm on the basis of merged motion vectors. Finally, the dense motion vectors are used to extrapolate rain echoes into 0–60-min nowcasts by a semi-Lagrangian scheme. Compared with other nowcasting methods for four landfalling typhoons in or near Shanghai, the new optical flow method is found to be more accurate than the traditional cross-correlation and optical flow methods, particularly showing a clear improvement in the nowcasting of convective echoes on the spiral rainbands of typhoons.

Abstract Higher intakes of individual antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E have been linked to mortality in the general population, but the association of overall antioxidant intake with mortality especially in depressed adults remains unclear. We aimed to investigate whether the dietary overall antioxidant intake is associated with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among depressed adults. This study included 3051 US adults with depression, who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 to 2018. Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) was used to define depression and evaluate depression severity. The dietary antioxidant quality score (DAQS) and dietary antioxidant index (DAI) were calculated based on the intakes of vitamins A, C, and E, zinc, selenium, and magnesium. A higher DAQS and DAI were significantly associated with lower depression scores (PHQ-9) (all

Abstract Designing high-performance carbonous electrodes for capacitive deionization with remarkable salt adsorption capacity (SAC) and outstanding salt adsorption rate (SAR) is quite significant yet challenging for brackish water desalination. Herein, a unique gelation-assisted strategy is proposed to tailor two-dimensional B and N-enriched carbon nanosheets (BNCTs) for efficient desalination. During the synthesis process, boric acid and polyvinyl alcohol were cross-linked to form a gelation template for the carbon precursor (polyethyleneimine), which endows BNCTs with ultrathin thickness (∼2 nm) and ultrahigh heteroatoms doping level (14.5 atom % of B and 14.8 atom % of N) after freeze-drying and pyrolysis. The laminar B, N-doped carbon enables an excellent SAC of 42.5 mg g

Abstract Human Action Recognition plays a driving engine of many human-computer interaction applications. Most current researches focus on improving the model generalization by integrating multiple homogeneous modalities, including RGB images, human poses, and optical flows. Furthermore, contextual interactions and out-of-context sign languages have been validated to depend on scene category and human per se. Those attempts to integrate appearance features and human poses have shown positive results. However, with human poses' spatial errors and temporal ambiguities, existing methods are subject to poor scalability, limited robustness, and sub-optimal models. In this paper, inspired by the assumption that different modalities may maintain temporal consistency and spatial complementarity, we present a novel Bi-directional Co-temporal and Cross-spatial Attention Fusion Model (B2C-AFM). Our model is characterized by the asynchronous fusion strategy of multi-modal features along temporal and spatial dimensions. Besides, the novel explicit motion-oriented pose representations called Limb Flow Fields (Lff) are explored to alleviate the temporal ambiguity regarding human poses. Experiments on publicly available datasets validate our contributions. Abundant ablation studies experimentally show that B2C-AFM achieves robust performance across seen and unseen human actions. The codes are available at https://github.com/gftww/B2C.git.
