Abstract Background: Hypertension is a health problem. The purpose of the present study was to compare perceived self-efficacy, benefits, and barriers of hypertension control between male and female patients.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on 400 patients referred to Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center in Tehran from August 2020 through March 2021. The convenience sampling method was used. The data collection tools consisted of a digital sphygmomanometer, a demographic form, and a researcher-made questionnaire of perceived benefits, barriers, and self-efficacy of hypertension control, whose validity and reliability were obtained.
Results: The mean age of the male and female patients was 54.02±12.93 years and 56.48±12.10 years, respectively. The mean score of perceived barriers in women was lower than that in men, and the mean perceived self-efficacy in women was higher than that in men (P<0.001). According to the regression test, history of smoking in men and family history of hypertension and age in women were predictors of perceived benefits. Further, occupation and history of smoking in men and education level, family history of hypertension, and history of smoking in women were predictors of perceived barriers. Additionally, marital status, education level, and disease duration in men and education level, family history of hypertension, history of smoking, and age in women were predictors of perceived self-efficacy (P<0.050).
Conclusion: In men, the mean score of perceived barriers was higher and the mean score of perceived self-efficacy was lower. Additionally, the predictors of each of these perceptions were determined.

Abstract In this study, an approach using gravity observations utilizing the Least Squares Collocation (LSC) method is developed with the aim of mapping the depth spatial variability of the Mohorovičić discontinuity. This approach is based on a spherical two-layer isostatic model where the exterior gravity field only varies because of the shifting topographic masses and the related isostatic adjustment since it is believed that the Earth's core has a uniform density distribution. Assuming mass conservation between the Moho column of height

Abstract Objectives: Postpartum services are the most important factor in preventing unwanted maternal and neonatal outcomes. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and the stress associated with the risk of infection, one way to improve midwifery services in the postpartum period and reduce unwanted maternal and neonatal outcomes is the participatory care model. Therefore, we aimed to assess the effect of the participatory care model on quality of life and performance in the postpartum period.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed on 200 women in the third trimester of pregnancy living in Bojnourd, Iran in 2020. Health-promoting interventions, including self-care training based on the participatory care model, were performed in four sessions for mothers, spouses, and their supporters. Quality of life and postpartum performance questionnaires were completed two and eight weeks after delivery.
Results: Mean quality of life in two weeks after delivery in the intervention and standard care groups were 115.5 and 114.7, respectively, and in the eight weeks after delivery were 121.0 and 116.8, respectively. Mean postpartum performance life in two weeks after delivery in the intervention and standard care groups were 74.7 and 73.6, respectively, and in the eight weeks after were 81.7 and 75.8, respectively. The results of repeated-measure analysis of variance showed that the intervention group had higher quality of life and performance scores than the standard care group (
Conclusions: The participatory care model can effectively improve the quality of life and performance of mothers, and we recommend its use.

Abstract Age is known to be the major risk factor for both pain sensation and sporadic Alzheimer's disease (sAD). Pain management in AD is a critical health condition. However, assessing pain in sAD patients is challenging. The intracerebroventricularly injected streptozotocin (icv-STZ) rat model of sAD has been brought to the fore as a hopefully suitable model that could mimic some features of sAD. However, the exact mechanism by which this agent may induce AD-like pathology is largely unknown. In some studies, analgesic drugs have been suggested as possible prevention of AD and icv-STZ-induced AD-like pathology. Therefore, this study used formalin and tail-flick tests to investigate whether different doses of icv-STZ injections could affect acute and inflammatory pain sensation and edema volume over time. Behavioral responses were observed at four testing time points (1, 2.5, 3.5, and 6 months postinjection). The results indicate that icv-STZ was able to significantly decrease the animals' formalin pain threshold in both a time- and dose-dependent manner. Formalin-induced acute and chronic pain scores of animals treated with streptozotocin 3 mg/kg (STZ3) increased dramatically 2.5 months after injection and persisted thereafter. The augmentation in pain score induced by streptozotocin 1 mg/kg (STZ1) was observed from 3.5 months after STZ injection. However, the effect of streptozotocin 0.5 mg/kg (STZ0.5) was NS until 6 months after injection. However, formalin-induced paw edema occurred with a longer delay and was not detectable in STZ0.5-treated animals. In addition, only STZ3-treated animals significantly reduced the thermal pain threshold of animals 6 months after injection. These observations indicate that icv-STZ can sensitize central and/or peripheral receptors to pain. The effect of STZ is dose- and time-dependent. AD-like pathology induced by icv-STZ could be partially activated via pain processing pathways. Therefore, anti-inflammatory agents could alleviate AD-like symptoms via pain treatments.

Abstract In recent decades, emerging data have highlighted the critical role of extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially (exosomes) Exos, in the progression and development of several cancer types. These nano-sized vesicles are released by different cell lineages within the cancer niche and maintain a suitable platform for the interchange of various signaling molecules in a paracrine manner. Based on several studies, Exos can transfer oncogenic factors to other cells, and alter the activity of immune cells, and tumor microenvironment, leading to the expansion of tumor cells and metastasis to the remote sites. It has been indicated that the cell-to-cell crosstalk is so complicated and a wide array of factors are involved in this process. How and by which mechanisms Exos can regulate the behavior of tumor cells and non-cancer cells is at the center of debate. Here, we scrutinize the molecular mechanisms involved in the oncogenic behavior of Exos released by different cell lineages of tumor parenchyma. Besides, tumoricidal properties of Exos from various stem cell (SC) types are discussed in detail.

Abstract Splenic abscess is a rare disease with growing incidence due to the increasing number of immunocompro-mised patients and usage of improved diagnostic imaging modalities. Hematogenous infections are the most common cause of splenic abscess. Because of nonspecific clinical presentation, diagnosis might be de-layed. CT-scan is the imaging method of choice for diagnosis. Ttreatment includes antibiotics alone or antibiotic therapy with percutaneous drainage or splenectomy. In this article, we present a rare case of multiple splenic abscess (MSA) in a patient undergoing hemodialysis in Bushehr.

Abstract The study of the COVID-19 pandemic is of pivotal importance due to its tremendous global impacts. This paper aims to control this disease using an optimal strategy comprising two methods: isolation and vaccination. In this regard, an optimized Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is developed using the Genetic Algorithm (GA) to control the dynamic model of the COVID-19 termed SIDARTHE (Susceptible, Infected, Diagnosed, Ailing, Recognized, Threatened, Healed, and Extinct). The number of diagnosed and recognized people is reduced by isolation, and the number of susceptible people is reduced by vaccination. The GA generates optimal control efforts related to the random initial number of each chosen group as the input data for ANFIS to train Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy structure coefficients. Also, three theorems are presented to indicate the positivity, boundedness, and existence of the solutions in the presence of the controller. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated through the mean squared error (MSE) and the root-mean-square error (RMSE). The simulation results show a significant decrease in the number of diagnosed, recognized, and susceptible individuals by employing the proposed controller, even with a 70% increase in transmissibility caused by various variants.

Abstract Background: Pregnant women are one of the most vulnerable groups in the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the lack of knowledge about fetal and perinatal complications following Covid-19 infection, the association of Covid-19 pandemic and congenital anomalies in babies conceived and born during this pandemic is unclear. Current study aimed to investigate the association between the Covid-19 pandemic and congenital birth anomalies in Iran. The population of newborns whose embryonic period coincided with the Covid-19 crises were compared with a similar group born during the pre-Covid-19 period.
Methods: This is a retrospective comparative analysis of congenital birth anomalies in Iran; desired data was extracted from national birth registry database. All registered congenital anomalies in hospital births were compared between two time periods: During Covid-19 (1st November 2020- 28th February 2021) and Before Covid-19 (1st November 2019-29th February 2020). Incidence of congenital anomalies at birth were compared and analyzed between these two time periods.
Results: The incidence of congenital birth anomalies are significantly increased during Covid-19 pandemic compared with before Covid-19 (P value < 0.00001). The number of all types of anomalies has increased in the current pandemic, but the congenital anomalies of the central nervous system (P value = 0.04) and Genitourinary (P value = 0.03) have a larger contribution than before.
Conclusion: Covid-19 pandemic are associated with congenital anomalies at birth. There are several factors in the Covid-19 pandemic which can affect fetal development in the first trimester of pregnancy. Possible reasons include vertical transmission of Covid-19 infection; maternal fever, stress and anxiety; insufficient preconception and prenatal care; neglect of fetal screening; and poverty imposed by this pandemic.
