Abstract (1) Background: The Automated Test of Embodied Cognition (ATEC) uses video administration of cognitively demanding physical tasks and motion capture technology to assess cognition in action. Embodied cognition is a radical departure from conventional approaches to cognitive assessment and is in keeping with contemporary neuroscience. (2) Methods: ATEC was administered to a convenience sample of 20 patients with substance use disorder and 25 age-matched community controls. Patients were administered concurrent cognitive assessments. (3) Results: Psychometric analysis revealed excellent internal consistency, test-retest reliability and small practice effects. Groups were significantly different on ATEC scores and ATEC scores significantly related to concurrent measures of cognition. (4) Conclusions: The preliminary results support the reliability and validity of ATEC for older adults.

Abstract Background: British American Football (BAF) is a developing sport in the UK, with keen growth in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league. Participation in BAF carries risks and so to facilitate safe participation medical care services must be evaluated.
Aims: To evaluate medical provision in BUCS American Football in the 2019-2020 season.
Methods: An online survey tool was used to collect data from BUCS BAF teams in the 2019-2020 season. Thirty-one teams (from across England, Wales and Scotland) responded to questions on facilities, provision and procedures.
Results: Almost 42% of teams had a regular team first aider who attended home games each week. Only 61.5% attended away games and 7.7% attended team training. Access to a first aider was not dependent upon division. Home games were more likely to be risk assessed and have an emergency action plan compared to away games. The majority of teams had access to automated external defibrillator (AED) within 100 m of the pitch, yet only 29% of staff were trained to use them. Almost 84% of teams reported carrying a designated fully charged phone (with signal). Prominent qualitative themes indicated were cost/funding as barriers to hiring qualified medical staff, lack of institutional support, unreliability of medical provision and inadequate facilities/preparation for games.
Conclusions: These findings provide key information on the status of medical provision, facilities and protocols in BUCS BAF. Data reveals a lack of consistent medical personnel, particularly at training and away games, and training in emergency care.

Abstract Objectives: To examine concussion knowledge and concussion attitudes of players, coaches, and support staff in British American Football (BAF).
Methods: Data from players, coaches and support staff (n = 236) were collected from across all leagues in BAF. An online survey tool was used which included the Rosenbaum Concussion Knowledge and Attitudes Survey (RoCKAS), and questions examining concussion education and perceived risk of participating in football.
Results: The mean score on the RoCKAS concussion knowledge was 21.0 ± 2.1 of a possible score of 25 reflecting good knowledge. Of a possible score of 65, the mean concussion attitude score was 55.6 ± 6.1 showing safe attitude. Whilst an overall safe attitude was seen, almost half of participants (45.3%) noted they would continue to play with a concussion. No relationship was found between CAI and prior concussion history. Fifty seven percent of participants agreed the benefits of playing football outweighed the risks. Forty eight percent reported that they had received no concussion-related education in the past 12 months.
Conclusion: BAF participants have good concussion knowledge and safe attitudes. However, risky behavior is demonstrated through unsafe likelihood to report and attitude to long-term health risks. Access to the British American Football Association (BAFA) concussion policy and education was poor raising questions over what sources of information stakeholders are drawing their knowledge from. These findings can help form the foundation of educational interventions (e.g. coaching workshops) to challenge current misconceptions and improve likelihood to report concussion in BAF.

Abstract Background and purpose: Neurological conditions are a major cause of health morbidity that negatively impacts function and quality of life (QoL). Despite this burden, community services are disproportionally scarce. Student-led physiotherapy services (SLSs) are a model that can increase community access to health care while providing authentic clinical experiences for students. SLSs consistently demonstrate high client satisfaction; however, limited evaluation of the impact of this model on the client's clinical outcomes exists. Therefore the aim of this project was to evaluate the impact of a physiotherapy student-led community-based rehabilitation service.
Methods: The SLS operated 4 days a week over a 15-week period. Forty-two community-dwelling clients (mean age 74 years) with a neurological diagnosis were included. During initial consultation, participants completed basic demographics, up to 3 Patient-Specific Functional Scales (PSFSs) and a QoL questionnaire (World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief Questionnaire [WHOQOL-BREF]). At discharge, participants completed the WHOQOL-BREF, PSFS, and a patient experience survey. Risk event data were also collected.
Results: Over half of the PSFS items targeted mobility (55%). There was a significant improvement (P < 0.05) in median change (quartiles) for pre-/post-PSFS scores for clients whose primary condition was balance 1.0 (0.0-3.0), cerebrovascular accident 1.0 (2.0-3.0) or multiple Sclerosis 1.0 (1.0-2.0), and mean (SD) WHOQOL-BREF scores for Physical Health (12.2 ± 1.5 to 13.1 ± 1.3) and Social Relationships (12.7 ± 2.7 to 16.6 ± 3.3). Patient experience survey results indicated that clients had confidence and trust in students. No adverse events were reported.
Discussion and conclusions: The SLS model provides a strategy to increase access to health care and clinical placement capacity. Findings demonstrated improved self-rated function, QoL, and positive patient experience for community-dwelling clients with nonacute neurological diagnoses.Video Abstract available for more insights from the authors (see the Video, Supplemental Digital Content 1, available at: http://links.lww.com/JNPT/A380).

Abstract A 2-year-old male neutered domestic shorthair cat presented for biting and lunging at the owners. After a full medical and behavioral assessment, the patient was diagnosed with misdirected predatory behavior and impulse control aggression. The misdirected predatory behavior necessitated client education that resulted in changes to the patient’s environment, provision of proper enrichment, adjustments to the patient-client interactions, behavior modification, and safety management, whereas the impulse control aggression responded best to medical intervention with fluoxetine, a serotonin selective reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). The daily fluoxetine dose was titrated up from 2.5 mg (0.5 mg/kg) per os to 7.5 mg (1.5 mg/kg) per os over a 4-month period, with incremental improvement noted with each dose increase. With treatment, the patient’s aggression decreased dramatically in frequency and intensity, and was reduced to a level the owners considered acceptable. This case outlines the importance of a full behavioral evaluation, proper diagnosis of behavioral and medical differentials, and appropriate targeted therapy of all diagnoses for the best outcome.
