Abstract Objective: This study aims to is to develop a disorder-specific patient-reported outcome measure to be used in Islamic clergymen with voice disorders and to investigate its validity and reliability.
Methods and procedures: Employing an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, this study conducted in two phases. Initially, semistructured interviews were conducted with 10 clergymen experiencing voice disorders. Subsequently, the questionnaire underwent rigorous validation, encompassing content, construct, and criterion validity assessments, in addition to test-retest reliability and internal consistency analyses. The index was administered to a sample of 110 male clergy, including imams, muezzins, and Quran course teachers, with an age range from 19 to 61years.
Results: Construct validity was established through factor analysis, resulting in a final 23-item scale categorized into two factors: physical-functional and emotional. Known group validity demonstrated a significant distinction between the study and control groups. Criterion validity reinforced the index's validity, displaying a correlation coefficient of 0.758 between the Voice Handicap Index for Clergymen and the well-established Voice Handicap Index. The questionnaire exhibited commendable internal consistency, with a Cronbach's Alpha (α) coefficient value of 0.971. Test-retest reliability analysis exhibited strong consistency, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.863.
Conclusions: It is recommended that the developed valid and reliable handicap index in the present study be included in the voice assessment batteries of Islamic clergymen with voice complaints with the clinical and research purposes. In future studies, the validity of the questionnaire can be investigated more by examining the difference between the Voice Handicap Index for Islamic Clergymen (CVHI) scores obtained before and after treatment. Identifying a cut-off point that discriminates between dysphonic and normophonic clergymen may allow the use of the CVHI as a screening tool for this population.

Abstract Finansal hizmetler sektöründe yapılmış olan bu çalışmanın temel amacı; firma yöneticilerinin duygusal zekâ düzeylerininin uyguladıkları çatışma yönetimi stratejileri üzerindeki etkisini çalışan algısına dayanarak incelemektir.

Abstract Due to the increasing sustainability concerns among society and investors, companies share information demonstrating their social and environmental impacts to make an impression in corporate reports. Thus, impression management is used to influence company stakeholders’ perception of their performance through graphs. Graphs presented in corporate reports are powerful impression management tools which communicate performance-related messages to the stakeholders. The purpose of this study is to examine the use of graphs to apply various impression management tactics in economic, social, and environmental disclosures of corporate reports. In this research, the use of graphs as an impression management tool has been determined through the corporate reports of 49 companies selected in the BIST (Borsa Istanbul) Sustainability Index of 2018 and 2019, Turkey. In total, 502 graphs in the reports of the selected companies were examined by descriptive analysis and the findings were statistically tested. According to the results, it was found that companies use both presentational enhancement and obfuscation as impression management tactics in corporate reports. This study helps to fill the research gap in the absence of an empirical study conducted in an emerging economy, Turkey. Additionally, it is the first study that focuses on graphs with impression management tactics that has ever been conducted in Turkey.

Abstract Employees are key stakeholders for companies to maintain their sustainability. Obtaining and disclosing information related to employees can help companies to manage and evaluate the effectiveness of human resources. This paper investigates human resource disclosures in corporate annual reports of 54 insurance companies in Turkey and identifies the determinants of the disclosure for the period of 2007–2017. For this purpose, human resource disclosures with eight subdimensions as employee health and safety, employment of minorities or women, disabled employee, employee training, employee assistance and benefits, employee remuneration, employee profiles and employee morale were obtained from corporate annual reports by content analysis. The data were statistically tested with correlation analysis and a pooled OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) models to determine the effects of return on assets, return on equity, leverage, firm size, number of employees, age of firm, public listing status, foreign ownership, company type on these disclosures. The results indicate that number of employees, foreign ownership and company type have an effect on the extent of human resource disclosure. Employee training is the most disclosed item among human resource disclosures in corporate reports. It is suggested that companies should improve their reporting and disclosure practices related to human resource development.

Abstract Introduction:Pregnancy is considered a low-grade inflammatory state presented with increased levels of pro-inflammatory markers. Despite the well-recognized association between inflammation and kidney injury, there is still a lack of available data concerning the role of thyroid hormone alterations in inflammation and acute kidney injury (AKI). We examined the relationship of kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) with renal and hepatic injury in hypothyroid, normothyroid (euthyroid), or hyperthyroid pregnant women. Methods:A total of 77 pregnant women with no additional health problems were enrolled in the study. Serum KIM-1 and IL-1β levels were analyzed by ELISA.Results:There were significant differences between normothyroid, hyperthyroid, and hypothyroid pregnants regarding creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), free T4, anti-thyroglobulin (anti-TG), anti-thyroperoxidase (anti-TPO), and plateletcrit (PCT) levels (p=0.018, p=0.032, p=0.011, p=0.001, p=0.003, and p=0.016, respectively). The mean creatinine levels of the hypothyroid group were significantly higher than those of the hyperthyroid group (p=0.015). The mean AST and PCT levels of the hypothyroid group were considerably higher than those of the normothyroid group (p=0.024 and p=0.014, respectively). In the correlation analysis, age was the single parameter that was significantly correlated with KIM-1 and IL-1β in all pregnant women (p=-0.024 and p=-0.018, respectively). In the hypothyroid pregnant women group, KIM-1 was correlated with creatinine levels and age (p=0.037 and p=0.022, respectively).Conclusion:KIM-1 level in pregnant women with hypothyroidism can serve as a useful biomarker to show AKI.

Abstract The present study has been one of the first attempts to thoroughly examine the effects of different kefir sources on fermentation characteristics, aerobic stability, and microbial communities of alfalfa silages. The effects of commercial kefir (CK) and homemade kefir culture (HK) applied with untreated a common control (CON) and three different application doses (5.0, 5.7, and 6.0 log cfu g −1 ) on wilted alfalfa and stored at an ambient temperature of 25–30 °C are studied. After 45 days of ensiling, fermentation characteristics and aerobic stability of silages were measured, and bacterial diversity was investigated by 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing using the GenomeLab™ GeXP platform. Both CK and HK accelerate more lactic acid production and reduced ammonia nitrogen concentration. Factor analysis of kefir sources suggests that the addition of kefir improves the aerobic stability of silages, even the initial water-soluble carbohydrate (WSC) content is inadequate via its antimicrobial effect on yeast and mold formation. Enterococcus faecium , Pediococcus pentosaceous and Lactobacillus brevis were dominant bacterial species among the treated groups at silo opening, while Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus brevis became dominant bacterial species after 7 days of aerobic exposure. In conclusion, the application of kefir on alfalfa silages improves fermentation quality and aerobic stability even with low WSC content.

Abstract Aim: To investigate the effects of quetiapine exposure on neural tube development in early stage chicken embryos.
Material and methods: Eighty-four fertilised specific pathogen-free chicken eggs were divided into four equal groups (groups 1?4). Three experimental groups (groups 2, 3 and 4) and a single control group (group 1) were used. Each egg in group 2 (n=21) was injected with 20 ?L of saline after 30 hours of incubation. Eggs in groups 3 and 4 were injected with 0.02 ml of a solution containing 400 and 800 ?g of quetiapine dose, respectively. Incubation was continued until the end of 72 hours. All embryos were then removed from the eggs and histopathologically examined.
Results: Normal development and the closed neural tubes were shown in 18, 16, 13 and 9 embryos in groups 1 2, 3 and 9, respectively, of the 84 embryos incubated. Open neural tubes were found in one, three and five embryos in groups 2, 3 and 5, respectively. Also, developmental anomalies were found in three, four, five and seven embryos in groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Moreover, no significant relationship between NTD and quetiapine exposure had been found.
Conclusion: Quetiapine has no significant effect on the occurrence of neural tube defects in the chicken embryo model.
