Abstract Background: Cholesterol (CHO) is an essential component of the body. However, high CHO levels in the body can damage bone mass and promote osteoporosis. CHO accumulation can cause osteoblast apoptosis, which has a negative effect on bone formation. The pathogenesis of osteoporosis is a complicate process that includes oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and inflammation. Geniposide (GEN) is a natural compound with anti-osteoporotic effect. However, the roles of GEN in osteopathogenesis are still unclear. Our previous studies demonstrated that GEN could reduce the accumulation of CHO in osteoblasts and the activation of ER stress in osteoblasts. However, the molecular mechanism of GEN in inhibiting CHO-induced apoptosis in osteoblasts needs to be further investigated.
Methods: MC3T3-E1 cells were treated with osteogenic induction medium (OIM). Ethanol-solubilized cholesterol (100 µM) was used as a stimulator, and 10 µM and 25 µM geniposide was added for treatment. The alterations of protein expression were detected by western blot, and the cell apoptosis was analyzed by a flow cytometer.
Results: CHO promoted osteoblast apoptosis by activating ER stress in osteoblasts, while GEN alleviated the activation of ER stress and reduced osteoblast apoptosis by activating the GLP-1R/ABCA1 pathway. Inhibition of ABCA1 or GLP-1R could eliminate the protective activity of GEN against CHO-induced ER stress and osteoblast apoptosis.
Conclusion: GEN alleviated CHO-induced ER stress and apoptosis in osteoblasts by mediating the GLP-1R/ABCA1 pathway.

Abstract Sorptive removal of cadmium (Cd) from the aqueous solutions using the easily available natural materials is an attractive method. However, the adsorption efficiencies of these materials, such as clays, are typically low. Besides, they are generally in relatively low stability and renewability, which restrict their application. Thus, modification of these materials to enhance their performance on Cd removal has gained growing attentions. Herein, the integration of calcination and ferric chloride (FeCl

Abstract Litchi, a succulent and perishable fruit, presents a narrow annual harvest window of under two weeks. The advent of smart agriculture has driven the adoption of visually-guided, automated litchi harvesting techniques. However, conventional approaches typically rely on laboratory-based, high-performance computing equipment, which presents challenges in terms of size, energy consumption, and practical application within litchi orchards. To address these limitations, we propose a real-time litchi detection methodology for complex environments, utilizing portable, low-energy edge computing devices. Initially, the litchi orchard imagery is collected to enhance data generalization. Subsequently, a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based single-stage detector, YOLOx, is constructed to accurately pinpoint litchi fruit locations within the images. To facilitate deployment on portable, low-energy edge devices, we employed channel pruning and layer pruning algorithms to compress the trained model, reducing its size and parameters. Additionally, the knowledge distillation technique is harnessed to fine-tune the network. Experimental findings demonstrated that our proposed method achieved a 97.1% compression rate, yielding a compact litchi detection model of a mere 6.9 MB, while maintaining 94.9% average precision and 97.2% average recall. Processing 99 frames per second (FPS), the method exhibited a 1.8-fold increase in speed compared to the unprocessed model. Consequently, our approach can be readily integrated into portable, low-computational automatic harvesting equipment, ensuring real-time, precise litchi detection within orchard settings.

Abstract As per the projections of conventional credit risk structured model, the risky asset values tend to adhere to the geometric Brownian motion. On the contrary, the risky asset values remain a non-continuous and dynamic ones and jump based on the conditions. Is not possible to measure the real Knight Uncertainty risks in financial markets with the help of a single probability measure. In this background, the current research work analyzes a structural credit risk model that belongs to Levy market under Knight Uncertainty. With the help of Lévy-Laplace exponent, the authors developed a dynamic pricing model in this study and acquired the price intervals for default probability, stock value and the bond value of enterprise. To be specific, the study intended to establish explicit solutions for three value processes, discussed earlier, with an assumption that the jump process follows a log-normal distribution. At the end, the study also conducted numerical analysis to understand the crucial role played by Knight Uncertainty upon the pricing of default probability and the stock value of the enterprise.

Abstract Behçet's disease is a systemic vasculitis frequently associated with intraocular inflammation. Recent findings identified independent clinical clusters in Behçet's disease, each involving distinct combinations of affected organs. Ocular Behçet's disease, mainly manifested as uveitis, is characterized as an independent cluster with a low likelihood of association with other system involvements, such as intestinal, cardiovascular, or central nervous system. A prevailing theory suggests that the pathogenesis of the disease is multifactorial, where a variety of genetic and infectious agents may interact with each other to cause the disease. Among sporadic cases, the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes, including HLA-B51, HLA-A26, HLA-B15, and HLA-B5701, have been found to be a key component conferring genetic susceptibility. Outside the HLA region, a set of susceptibility variants are identified, closely related to interleukin (IL)-23/IL-17 pathway, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) signaling, and pattern recognition receptor systems. Microbial infections, such as Streptococcus sanguinis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Herpes simplex virus (HSV), are linked to play the triggering of disease in immunogenetically predisposed individuals. Clinically, due to the notable relapsing-remitting course of ocular Behçet's disease, the prevention of recurrent attack would be the primary treatment goal. Combination of corticosteroids and immunomodulatory drugs, such as anti-TNF agents, interferon, and conventional immunosuppressants (e.g. cyclosporine, azathioprine), have been the mainstream regimen for the disease. Future research may focus on comparing the effectiveness of immunomodulatory drugs and identifying the most suitable subgroups for a specific drug on the basis of the knowledge of the molecular heterogeneity of the disease.

Abstract Background: The introduction of chest pain centers (CPC) in China has achieved great success in shortening the duration of nursing operations to significantly improve the treatment and outcomes of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The nursing handover period is still considered the high incidence period of adverse events because of the distractibility of nurses' attention, potential interruption, and unclear responsibilities. Under the CPC mechanism, the nursing efficiency and patients' outcome, whether affected by the nursing handover, is still a knowledge gap in research. This is also the aim of this study.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted with data from STEMI patients from a tertiary hospital in the north of Sichuan Province from January 2018 to December 2019 through the Chinese CPC database. Patients are divided into handover and non-handover groups according to the time they presented in the Emergency Department. D2FMC, FMC2FE, FMC2BS, FMC2CBR, FMC2FAD, and D2W were selected to measure nursing efficiency. The occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events, the highest troponin values within 72 h of hospitalization, and the length of hospitalization were selected to measure the patient outcomes. Continuous variables are summarized as mean ± SD, and t-tests of the data were performed. P-values < 0.05 (two-tailed) were considered statistically significant.
Results: A total of 231 cases were enrolled, of which 40 patients (17.3%) were divided into the handover period group, and 191 (82.6%) belonged to the non-handover period group. The results showed that the handover period group took significantly longer on items FMC2BS (P < 0.001) and FMC2FAD (P < 0.001). Still, there were no significant differences in D2FMC and FMC2FE, and others varied too little to be clinically meaningful, as well as the outcomes of patients.
Conclusion: This study confirms that nursing handover impacts the nursing efficiency of STEMI patients, especially in FMC2BS and FMC2FAD. Hospitals should also reform the nursing handover rules after the construction of CPC and enhance the triage training of nurses to assure nursing efficiency so that CPC can play a better role.

Abstract Preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) is crucial in reducing their impact on individuals and society. However, the existing mainstream 2D image-based approach is insufficient in capturing the complex 3D movements and postures involved in many occupational tasks. To address this, an improved deep learning-based rapid entire body assessment (REBA) method has been proposed. The method takes working videos as input and automatically outputs the corresponding REBA score through 3D pose reconstruction. The proposed method achieves an average precision of 94.7% on real-world data, which is comparable to that of ergonomic experts. Furthermore, the method has the potential to be applied across a wide range of industries as it has demonstrated good generalisation in multiple scenarios. The proposed method offers a promising solution for automated and accurate risk assessment of WMSDs, with implications for various industries to ensure the safety and well-being of workers.

Abstract A method for determining combustion instability using flame structure parameters is presented. A speaker is used to provide controllable external excitation for the combustion system. The experimental object is a methane-air swirl premixed flame. The flame structure parameters such as height, width, and flame surface density extracted from the hydroxyl planar laser-induced fluorescence image were used to analyze combustion instability at different equivalence ratios (0.8-1.2) and inlet flow rates. It is confirmed that the inflection point of the flame structure parameters corresponds to the evolution of combustion instability verified by the flame transfer function. The results show that with the increase of inlet velocity
