Abstract	In 1983 under the leadership of Dr. Daria Haust, the Pediatric Pathology Club (PPC; forerunner of the Society for Pediatric Pathology [SPP]), promulgated bylaws that included recognition of the special expertise required in pediatric pathology. This standard followed formal discussion that began as early as 1970, suggesting that special certification should be pursued, and the idea was vetted by the PPC in 1980 following a special report by Dr. Benjamin Landing and a letter to PPC members. Under the leadership of Dr. William Donnelly in 1984, a relationship between the SPP and the American Board of Pathology (ABPath) began in order to receive recognition of pediatric pathology as a special discipline. As a result, a test committee chaired by Dr. Jerald Schenken began preparing question categories and examples for ABPath examination. These efforts culminated in the first pediatric pathology subspecialty examination, held in Atlanta, Georgia on November 20, 1990. With this article we wish to detail the history of ABPath pediatric pathology board certification from its beginnings to the current time.

Abstract	Extravaginal torsion (EVT) is a rare type of testicular torsion that usually occurs in neonates. The primary type of testicular torsion that occurs in adolescents is intravaginal torsion. In this case report, we describe the first case of EVT reported in a 16-year-old male with a contralateral bell clapper deformity and subsequent surgical management using a tunica vaginalis flap and bilateral orchiopexy. In discussion of this case, we examine possible anatomical causes of EVT and suggestions for appropriate surgical management.

Abstract	Unilateral tonsillar enlargement is a common indication for tonsillectomy, but there are varying rates of malignancy among tonsils removed for asymmetry and a lack of clear guidelines for management within the literature. Lymphoma of the palatine tonsils is among the concerns leading to tonsillectomy, but chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) of the tonsil is rare. We report a case of primary CLL/SLL of the palatine tonsil in a 51-year-old gentleman who presented with tonsillar asymmetry and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) but lacked signs and symptoms suspicious for malignancy, including lymphadenopathy and "B-symptoms." To our knowledge, only 7 cases of CLL/SLL of the palatine tonsil have been reported in the English literature, with the tonsil being the primary site of involvement in only 4 of those cases. Our unique case highlights the importance of thorough physical exam, family history, and tissue biopsy in patients presenting to the otolaryngologist with OSA and asymmetric tonsils.

Abstract	Introduction: The formative period of the specialty of gynecologic oncology was from 1968 to 1972 and became a board-certified specialty in 1973. During this formation there were no Black physicians participating in this process. We chronicle and document the incorporation of the first three board-certified Black physicians in the specialty of gynecologic oncology here for historical purposes. Methods: We highlight the hostile climate experienced by Black physicians before and during the formation of gynecologic oncology, review the acceptance and training of the first three Black physicians in the specialty and recognize their significant contributions to the field. Results: The biographies and the narrative of these men describe their impact and contribution to medicine. We chronicle the historic presence of the first board-certified Black gynecologic oncologists and pelvic surgeons in the United States. Conclusion: These three men represent the Black Founding Fathers of gynecologic oncology. Their perseverance in the face of adversity and commitment to excellence have left an indelible impact on the institutions that they developed, the individuals that they trained, and the patients that they served.

Abstract	Objective: Parental reports and brief clinical examinations are the primary information used to assist clinicians in weaning home supplemental oxygen in infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Recorded nocturnal oximetry provides an objective assessment of hypoxemia; however, it is unknown if it identifies clinically undetected hypoxemia in the home setting. Our objective was to determine if nocturnal oximetry can identify unreported hypoxemia in infants with BPD who appear ready to wean from supplemental oxygen. Study design: We conducted a retrospective chart review of infants born <32 weeks gestation with BPD who were discharged to home receiving supplemental oxygen and completed recorded nocturnal oximetry in room air during an 18-month period. Abnormal oximetry was defined as >5 min with SpO<sub>2</sub> < 90% and/or an oxyhemoglobin desaturation index (ODI4) >5. Comparative analysis of patients with normal and abnormal overnight oximetry was performed using Fisher Exact and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: Thirty-five former premature infants completed nocturnal oximetry at 5.8 (3.4-8.3) months corrected age. Nocturnal oximetry was abnormal as defined in 67% of the cohort (n = 21). Five percent of patients were hypoxemic, 52% had frequent desaturation events, and 43% had both. No significant differences existed in neonatal characteristics between patients with normal and abnormal studies. Conclusions: Nocturnal oximetry was abnormal in the majority of infants with BPD who were otherwise clinically ready to wean from oxygen support, suggesting that recorded home oximetry could be a feasible and useful tool to evaluate for otherwise clinically unapparent nocturnal hypoxemia in patients with BPD.

Abstract	Objective: What do people see as distinguishing the morally exceptional from others? To handle the problem that people may disagree about who qualifies as morally exceptional, we asked subjects to select and rate their own examples of morally exceptional, morally average, and immoral people. Method: Subjects rated each selected exemplar on several enablers of moral action and several directions of moral action. By applying the logic underlying stimulus sampling in experimental design, we evaluated perceivers' level of agreement about the characteristics of the morally exceptional, even though perceivers rated different targets. Results: Across three studies, there was strong subjective consensus on who is morally exceptional: those who are empathetic and prone to guilt, those who reflect on moral issues and identify with morality, those who have self-control and actually enact moral behaviors, and those who care about harm, compassion, fairness, and honesty. Deep controversies also existed about the moral directions pursued by those seen as morally exceptional: People evaluated those who pursued similar values and made similar decisions more favorably. Conclusion: Strong consensus suggests characteristics that may push a person to go beyond normal expectations, that the study of moral exceptionality is not overly hindered by disagreement over who is morally exceptional, and that there is some common ground between disagreeing camps.

Abstract	Recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus (rVSV) vaccines expressing spike proteins of Wuhan, Beta, and/or Delta variants of SARS-CoV-2 were generated and tested for induction of antibody and T cell immune responses following intramuscular delivery to mice. rVSV-Wuhan and rVSV-Delta vaccines and an rVSV-Trivalent (mixed rVSV-Wuhan, -Beta, -Delta) vaccine elicited potent neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) against live SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan (USAWA1), Beta (B.1.351), Delta (B.1.617.2), and Omicron (B.1.1.529) viruses. Prime-boost vaccination with rVSV-Beta was less effective in this capacity. Heterologous boosting of rVSV-Wuhan with rVSV-Delta induced strong nAb responses against Delta and Omicron viruses, with the rVSV-Trivalent vaccine consistently effective in inducing nAbs against all the SARS-CoV-2 variants tested. All vaccines, including rVSV-Beta, elicited a spike-specific immunodominant CD8

Abstract	Introduction: Endometrial cancer is the most commonly diagnosed female genital tract malignancy in the United States of America. Racial disparities surrounding this particular disease have been extensively investigated for over 26-years. We sought to determine if research in this area has led to any significant improvements in this disparity. Methods: We performed a rapid systematic review of English language publications on racial disparities in endometrial cancer among African American (AAW) and white American women (WAW), from 1997 to 2023. We looked at trends in incidence and survival; impact of known poor prognostic factors (stage at diagnosis, histological subtypes, grade); co-morbidities; differences in treatment (surgery, radiation and chemotherapy); socioeconomic factors; differences in biological and genetic markers; and policies/declarations. Results: During the period under review (1997-2023), there was a notable increase in both disease incidence (39%) and mortality (26%) rates for AAW, in comparison to WAW among whom the incidence rates increased by 2% and mortality rates rose, but 9% less than for AAW. It should be noted that the current incidence rate of 29.4% in AAW represent a reversal of what is was 26-years ago, when the incidence rate was 17.8%. In comparison to WAW, AAW had a higher prevalence of poor prognostic variables, more co-morbidities, lower income levels, less insurance coverage, and were more frequently under treated with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. To date no actionable molecular/genetic markers have been identified. We were unable to locate any published recommendations or active programs of implementation strategies/policies designed to effectively mitigate the documented racial disparity. Conclusion: Racial disparities in disease incidence and mortality in endometrial cancer rates between WAW and AAW have widened during a 26-year period of robust research, suggesting that current research alone is not enough to eliminate this disparity. Based on this rapid systematic review we have identified and analyzed the impact of causation variables on this disparity. Additionally, we have made strong and pertinent recommendations for the benefit of mitigating this escalating racial disparity.
