Abstract The cellular complexity of the endochondral bone underlies its essential and pleiotropic roles during organismal life. While the adult bone has received significant attention, we still lack a deep understanding of the perinatal bone cellulome. Here, we have profiled the full composition of the murine endochondral bone at the single-cell level during the transition from fetal to newborn life and in comparison with the adult tissue, with particular emphasis on the mesenchymal compartment. The perinatal bone contains different fibroblastic clusters with blastema-like characteristics in organizing and supporting skeletogenesis, angiogenesis and hematopoiesis. Our data also suggest dynamic inter- and intra-compartment interactions, as well as a bone marrow milieu that seems prone to anti-inflammation, which we hypothesize is necessary to ensure the proper program of lymphopoiesis and the establishment of central and peripheral tolerance in early life. Our study provides an integrative roadmap for the future design of genetic and cellular functional assays to validate cellular interactions and lineage relationships within the perinatal bone.

Abstract Tongue necrosis is a rare clinical finding because of its rich vascularisation. Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most frequent cause of it, and when present, it is usually one side affected. We describe a patient with several months of constitutional syndrome; during that period, she develops headache followed by tongue necrosis, which lead to clinical suspicion of GCA, later confirmed by a temporal artery biopsy. Before the biopsy, she was treated with corticosteroids. We discuss this illness and tongue necrosis as a rare manifestation to consider.

Abstract The death of a baby in the perinatal period is considered a disenfranchized grief that can be a source of significant symptoms of guilt, shame, and stigma. There is a lack of validated instruments for assessing the stigma associated with perinatal grief. The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties (factor structure, reliability, and validity) of the Spanish version of the Stillbirth Stigma Scale (SSS) in parents who have experienced a perinatal loss. A total of 291 participants (mostly mothers) completed an online questionnaire that included the SSS and other measures. The best-fitting factor structure was a second-order model with four dimensions and adequate reliability values. In terms of validity, we found statistically significant relationships between the SSS scores and the variables of self-esteem, complicated grief, event centrality, depression, and anxiety. In conclusion, the Spanish adaptation of the SSS is deemed to have adequate psychometric properties.

Abstract Aims/background: Assessing the intensity of perinatal grief is very important for identifying the more complex cases in mothers and fathers. Despite this, there are few assessment tools available. The aim of this study was to analyse the psychometric properties (factorial structure, reliability, and validity) of the Spanish version of the Perinatal Grief Intensity Scale (PGIS).
Design/methods: An online survey was completed by 291 mothers and fathers who had suffered perinatal loss in the previous six years.
Results: The results showed adequate fit indexes for the three-factor model of the PGIS: reality, confront others, and congruence. Reliability values for the overall scale and subscales were adequate. Finally, with regard to validity, significant (
Conclusion: In conclusion, the Spanish adaptation of the PGIS has adequate reliability and validity scores and a factorial structure consistent with the original version.

Abstract Objectives: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of potentially inappropriate prescriptions (PIPs) and potential prescription omissions (PPOs) in a Spanish cohort of people living with HIV (PLWH) aged ≥65 years and to identify risk factors for the presence of PIPs and PPOs.
Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted across 10 public hospitals in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Spain. Clinical and demographic data were cross-checked against hospital and community pharmacy dispensation registries. PIPs and PPOs were assessed using the American Geriatrics Society (AGS)/Beers and Screening Tool of Older Persons' Prescriptions (STOPP)/Screening Tool to Alert Doctors to Right Treatment (START) criteria. Risk factors for PIPs and PPOs and agreement between AGS/Beers and STOPP/START criteria were statistically analysed.
Results: This study included 313 PLWH (median age 72 years), of whom 80.5% were men. PIP prevalence rates were 29.4% and 44.4% based on the AGS/Beers and STOPP criteria, respectively. The concordance between AGS/Beers and STOPP criteria was moderate. Benzodiazepines and proton pump inhibitors were the chronic comedications most commonly involved in PIPs. PPOs were observed in 61.4% of the patients. The leading omissions were insufficient influenza and pneumococcal vaccine coverage and inadequate bone health-related treatments. The number of chronic comedications, female sex, neuropsychiatric disorders, and cancer diagnosis were risk factors for PIPs, whereas osteopenia and osteoporosis were risk factors for PPOs.
Conclusions: A high prevalence of PIPs and PPOs was observed in our cohort of older PLWH. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive medication reviews in this population to reduce inappropriate medication use and address their specific and underserved therapeutic needs.

Title translation Impact of diabetes on cardiovascular risk in patients with dyslipidemia.
Abstract Objective: To determine the impact of diabetes on cardiovascular risk in patients with dyslipidemia.
Method: Observational, cross-sectional and comparative study in which cardiovascular risk was determined at 10 years in 100 patients with dyslipidemia, of these, 50 non-diabetic patients and 50 diabetic patients.
Results: Both groups had similar characteristics in terms of age, blood pressure figures, average body mass index, and HDL and LDL levels. It was observed that the diabetic group has almost double the risk compared to the dyslipidemia group, 13.7 vs. 7.9 (p = 0.014), and the calculated heart age is also higher in patients with diabetes, 80 vs. 66 years (p = 0.003). Even in patients with diabetes there is a greater difference between the real age and the age of the heart, 24 years vs. 15 years of patients without diabetes (p = 0.000).
Conclusion: Having diabetes and dyslipidemia doubles the cardiovascular risk of patients. Little metabolic control was found in the population studied, which significantly increases complications at an early age and the economic burden on the health system and the families of patients, so it is necessary to rethink treatment strategies to improve metabolic control and with it the prognosis for the patient in the long term.

Abstract This retrospective study evaluated canine patients with presumptively diagnosed meningoencephalomyelitis (ME) based on neurological clinical signs, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis, cross-sectional imaging, and infectious disease testing with a limited neurological-focused polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panel performed on blood and CSF. The first goal was to determine the proportion of dogs where the condition was caused by an infectious agent versus a probable immune-mediated etiology (i.e., meningoencephalomyelitis of unknown origin; MUO) in our geographic region. The secondary goals of this study were to examine and define associations between abnormal CSF test results and cross-sectional neuroimaging findings, in addition to defining the age and most common neurological clinical signs in each group of ME. A total of 168 dogs matched the inclusion criteria with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed in 130 dogs and computed tomography (CT) performed in 38 dogs. Presumptive MUO was observed in 152/168 (90.5%) of dogs and infectious ME was identified in 16/168 (9.5%) of dogs (
