Abstract	Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a systemic histiocytic proliferative disease with cutaneous manifestations which is well described in human medical literature and has relatively recently been reclassified as a neoplastic disorder. The diagnosis of canine Langerhans cell histiocytosis has been proposed in the veterinary literature to refer to a histiocytic proliferative disease in the dog with clinical and histopathologic features that mirror the human disease. However, reports that invoke this diagnosis are rare and often lack complete diagnostic characterization. This case report presents an extensive diagnostic investigation of a putative case of Langerhans cell histiocytosis in a 3-year-old male castrated Golden Retriever dog, including gross, cytologic, histopathologic, and immunohistochemical findings. Furthermore, we document that canine LCH may have positive immunolabeling for the transcription factor multiple myeloma oncogene 1/interferon regulatory factor 4 (MUM1/IRF4), which is classically used for the diagnosis of canine plasma cell neoplasms.

Abstract	Sexual minority adolescents are more likely to have obesity compared to their heterosexual peers, but little is known about potential contributors to this disparity that lie outside of individual-level health behaviors, such as diet and exercise. One possible contributor is school violence victimization, a factor associated with overweight/obesity in adolescence. Another possible contributor is school climate, which is associated with feelings of safety and connectedness that can lower the likelihood of school violence victimization. Abstract	We report a new method for the regiodivergent dearomative (3 + 2) reaction between 3-substituted indoles and oxyallyl cations. Access to both regioisomeric products is possible and is contingent on the presence or absence of a bromine atom on the substituted oxyallyl cation. In this way, we are able to prepare molecules that contain highly-hindered, stereodefined, vicinal, quaternary centers. Detailed computational studies employing energy decomposition analysis (EDA) at the DFT level establishes that regiochemical control arises from either reactant distortion energy or orbital mixing and dispersive forces, depending on the oxyallyl cation. Examination of the Natural Orbitals for Chemical Valence (NOCV) confirms that indole acts as the nucleophilic partner in the annulation reaction.

Abstract	The neuroinvasive disease caused by Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV) infection is rare. However, increasing incidence and widespread occurrence of the infection make JCV a growing public health concern. Presently, clinical diagnosis is achieved through serological testing, and mosquito pool surveillance requires virus isolation and identification. A rapid molecular detection test, such as real-time RT-PCR, for diagnosis and surveillance of JCV has not been widely utilized. To enhance testing and surveillance, here, we describe the development and validation of a real-time RT-PCR test for the detection of JCV RNA. Three primer and probe sets were evaluated for analytical sensitivity and specificity. One probe set, JCV132FAM, was found to be the most sensitive test detecting 7.2 genomic equivalents/µL. While less sensitive, a second probe set JCV231cFAM was the most specific test with limited detection of Keystone virus at high RNA loads. Taken together, these data indicate both probe sets can be utilized for a primary sensitive screening assay and a secondary specific confirmatory assay. While both primer and probe sets detected high viral loads of Keystone virus, these assays did not detect any virus in the California encephalitis virus clade, including negative detection of the medically important La Crosse virus (LACV) and snowshoe hare virus (SSHV). The real-time RT-PCR assay described herein could be utilized in diagnosis and surveillance in regions with co-circulation of JCV and LACV or SSHV to inform public health action.

Abstract	Introduction: Asset-based approaches to improve citizen wellbeing and address inequalities are now being adopted by public health practitioners. There is some evidence that participatory approaches and the promotion of community assets have the capacity to mitigate against the social determinants that generate health disparities. However, questions remain about how they work in practice. This paper reports on research carried out to provide insight into how a diverse range of community assets support (or not) the wellbeing of vulnerable citizens and to provide an improved understanding of people's lived experiences including the challenges of citizens who belong to community assets face. Two subsequent studies were undertaken in a region of England comprising of two neighboring municipalities where health inequalities are stark. Both municipalities contain within them areas of social deprivation. The initial study was completed in March 2020, 1 week before England's first COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were introduced and the subsequent study was conducted to explore the impact of social restrictions on the community assets forum members. Methods: A combined phenomenological and ethnographic methodological approach was adopted for both studies. For the initial study ethnographic methods were used including 42 qualitative face-to-face interviews focusing on the lived experience of participants. Observations, informal conversations, photographs, and field notes were also carried out to allow researchers to become familiar with the setting, to build rapport and trust provide a contextual understanding of the relationship between the activity or place and participants' experiences of wellbeing. For the subsequent study thirty-six interviews (including interviews with community assets leaders) were conducted online or by phone due to COVID-19 social restrictions. Results and discussion: The studies' findings support the supposition that these groups are community assets which help ameliorate against the social detriments of health and wellbeing that have led to widening health inequalities in the region. The findings from both studies clearly illustrate the importance of sociality for wellbeing, and that participation in these groups are an important determinant of wellbeing. The data demonstrates how social capital is generated within a range of community groups and spaces. It also conveys the needs and deficits existing within groups highlighting the need to provide more assistance to vulnerable citizens. While most themes were common to all community forums, there were some noticeable place-based differences.

Abstract	Secondary analysis of the Early Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey 2018 data set (Baby FACES 2018) explored links between family risk events and referral-making and referral uptake among families receiving Early Head Start (EHS) services. Referrals to both behavioral health and entitlement programs were considered. Results showed that referrals to behavioral health programs were much more likely to be given to families receiving care from home-based care than center-based care, and that referrals were slightly more likely to be given to families who did not have any family risk events. Several factors also moderated the relationship between family risk and referrals, including perceived closeness of the parent/caregiver-EHS staff relationship, family conflict, and caregiver depression. There were no observed effects for referrals to entitlement programs. Caregiver depression weakened the link between family risk and service uptake for entitlement programs.
