    Abstract Background: The benefit of administering pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis following renal transplantation remains uncertain.
    Objectives: To compare hemostatic parameters before and after renal transplant surgery in both recipients and their donors at predetermined time points.
    Methods: Blood samples were collected at baseline (T1), immediately after surgery (T2), and at 24 hours after surgery (T3) in both recipients and donors and at 72 (T4) and 120 hours (T5) from recipients only. Assays included
    Results: Fifty-two patients (28 recipients and 24 donors) were enrolled. Both donors and recipients had increased FVIIIc, VWF, F1 + 2, D-dimer, and PAI immediately after surgery but reduced antithrombin. Mixed-model analysis showed that the magnitude of change over time (between T1 and T3) for FVIIIc (mean estimated difference [MED], 72; 95% CI, 41-102;
    Conclusion: Persistence of a hypercoagulable state was more prominent in recipients after 24 hours despite recovery in renal function and initiation of thromboprophylaxis.

    Abstract Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study is to understand, from the patient's perspective, their experience of living with advanced multiple myeloma, the psychosocial impact, and needs for support in managing and adapting to this illness.
    Methods: An interpretive descriptive approach was used. Individual semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with each participant, which focused on eliciting their descriptions of psychosocial issues and concerns, as well as the supports they use for coping with cancer. Transcripts were analyzed using interpretive description, resulting in the generation of common themes that represented the data.
    Results: The sample comprised twelve adults with a diagnosis of advanced multiple myeloma who had undergone at least three lines of treatment or were transfusion dependent. All participants were receiving ambulatory care for their myeloma in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Four themes were generated: (1) confusion about the diagnosis and treatment options; (2) challenges in finding relevant information; (3) dealing with the chronicity of treatment side effects; (4) social support as critical for coping with the life-threat of multiple myeloma.
    Conclusion: Findings suggest that the psychosocial impact of living with advanced multiple myeloma is greatly impacted by one's ability to understand the complexities of the diagnosis and access supports to cope with its physical and emotional consequences. Clinical interventions specifically tailored to meeting the information and support needs of this population are needed.

    Abstract Objectives: Few studies have examined the impact of late-life depression trajectories on specific domains of cognitive function. This study aims to delineate how different depressive symptom trajectories specifically affect cognitive function in older adults.
    Design: Prospective longitudinal cohort study.
    Setting: Australia and the United States of America.
    Participants: In total, 11,035 community-dwelling older adults with a mean age of 75 years.
    Measurements: Depressive trajectories were modelled from depressive symptoms according to annual Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale 10 (CES-D-10) surveys. Four trajectories of depressive symptoms were identified: low ("nondepressed"), consistently mild ("subthreshold depression"), consistently moderate ("persistent depression"), and initially low but increasing ("emerging depression"). Global cognition (Modified Mini-Mental State Examination [3MS]), verbal fluency (Controlled Oral Word Association Test [COWAT]), processing speed (Symbol Digit Modalities Test [SDMT]), episodic memory (Hopkins Verbal Learning Test - Revised [HVLT-R]), and a composite z-score were assessed over a subsequent median 2 years.
    Results: Subthreshold depression predicted impaired performance on the SDMT (Cohen's
    Conclusions: Depressive symptoms are associated with later impaired processing speed. These effects are small. Diverse depression trajectories have different impacts on cognitive function.

    Abstract This essay discusses the concept of discovery, intended as content discovery, and defines it in the new context of Open Science, with a focus on Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH). Starting from the example of Google Scholar, the authors show that this well established service does not address the current needs, practices, and variety of discovery. Alternatives in terms of technical choices, features, and governance, do however exist, offering richer and more open discovery. The paper presents in particular the implementations and research work of the H2020 project TRIPLE (Transforming Research through Innovative Practices for Linked Interdisciplinary Exploration). Dedicated to the building of a discovery platform for the SSH, the project is meant to address the specificities and evolution of discovery in this field.  Prevailing scholarly resource platforms like Google Scholar limit discovery by focussing only on publications, and favouring through their algorithm well-cited papers, English content, and discipline-specific resources. A limitation in the context of cross-disciplinary and collaborative Open Science, such a service more specifically hinders discovery in the SSH. Characterized by a fragmented landscape, a variety of languages, data types, and outputs, research in the SSH requires services that fully exploit discovery potentialities.  Moreover, a survey conducted within the TRIPLE project showed that most SSH researchers use Google Scholar as their starting point, and that they recognise the lack of control they have with this system. Beyond the extension of features and content, transparency is the other important criterion for the building of an Open Infrastructure actually serving the research community. In light of this, we present in some detail the GoTriple platform, which exploits today's technological potential and incorporates the best known functionalities in order to unveil more and innovative scholarly outputs and lead to international and interdisciplinary research project collaborations.
