Abstract O presente estudo avaliou a composição centesimal e o teor de ácidos graxos do tecido muscular do salmão (Salmo salar L.) sob duas formas: in natura e grelhado.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of gibberellic acid (GA3) and ethephon, besides the interaction of both plant growth regulators, on the germinative process of atemoya seeds (Annona cherimola Mill. X A. squamosa L.), cultivar 'Gefner'. Experimental design was completely randomized, in a 5² factorial arrangement; treatments consisted of the combination among five GA3 (gibberellic acid) and five ethephon concentrations, totaling 25 treatments, with four replicates of 25 seeds per plot. GA3 concentrations were 0, 250, 500, 750, and 1000 mg L-1 a.i., whereas those of ethephon were 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg L-1 a.i. Seeds were treated with both plant growth regulators through immersion in the different solutions for 36 h. Then, seeds were sown onto germitest paper roll and allowed to germinate in a germination chamber, in the dark and under 20ºC/8h-30ºC/16h alternate temperature. Germination percentage, time and speed index; normal seedling percentage; and dormant seed percentage were evaluated. There was an interaction of both plant growth regulators on the germinative process of atemoya seeds, which indicates that the germination percentage of atemoya seeds (Annona cherimola Mill. X A. squamosa L.), cultivar 'Gefner', increases by using 778 mg L-1 GA3, whereas the association among high GA3 concentrations and 75-100 mg L-1 ethephon increases the germination speed index and the percentage of normal seedlings.

Abstract The recent decision No. 26972 of the Italian Supreme Court (United Sections) of November 11, 2008 fixed the correct interpretation of law about “non pecuniary loss” and the principles that must be applied by the other Italian courts. Nevertheless some aspects of the interpretation provided by the Italian Supreme Court are not so easily applied and the first cases after the decision named above present some problems. This study analyses the critical aspects and the questions presented by the decision of the United Sections’ Italian Supreme Court and the subsequent decisions of the Italian judges.

Abstract Introduction: Although pulmonary involvement due to alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency has been widely described, most studies focus on the genotypes causing severe deficiency (<60 mg/dL).
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence of the different AAT gene variants that do not cause severe deficiency in patients with pulmonary emphysema diagnosed by thoracic computed tomography (CT). Furthermore, we assessed the risk associated with a non-severe decrease in AAT values in the pathogenesis of emphysema.
Methods: Case-control study design that included patients who had a CT scan available of the entire thorax. In total, 176 patients with emphysema (cases) and 100 control subjects without emphysema were analyzed.
Results: The prevalence of variants was higher among cases (25.6%; 45/176) than controls (22%; 22/100), although the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.504) when analyzed globally. In the control group, all the variants detected were MS. Excluding this variant, statistically significant differences were observed in the remaining variants (MZ, SS and SZ). Only 18% of the controls (all MS) presented values below our limit of normality, and all had values very close to the reference value (90 mg/dL). In contrast, 76% of patients with the other variants presented pathological levels. In a logistic regression model, both smoking and a non-severe reduction in AAT (60 to 90 mg/dL) increased the probability of emphysema.
Conclusion: Our study confirms an association between certain variants in the alpha-1 antitrypsin gene that do not cause severe deficiency and the presence of pulmonary emphysema. This association with variants that are associated with reductions in serum AAT values is statistically significant and independent of smoking habit.

Abstract Background and objectives: Global pandemics, including COVID-19, have a significant effect on mental health, and this may be especially true for individuals with health anxiety. Although health anxiety is related to both pandemic-related fears and perceptions of health risks, there is a paucity of research on individual difference variables that might exert an influence on these relationships. The present study examined intolerance of uncertainty (IU) as a potential moderator of the relationship between health anxiety and COVID-related stress, and the relationship between health anxiety and perceived risk of contracting COVID.
Design and methods: A nationally representative sample of North American adults (
Results: Prospective IU moderated the positive relationship between health anxiety and COVID-related stress, as the relationship was strengthened at average and higher levels of prospective IU. Neither IU subscale moderated the relationship between health anxiety and perceived risk.
Conclusion: These results suggest that individuals with elevated health anxiety and high prospective IU may be at higher risk of experiencing COVID-related stress, illuminating the interplay of risk factors that place anxious populations at an increased risk of experiencing stress during acute health risks.

Title translation Elastofibroma dorsi: Diagnosis and follow-up in primary care.
Abstract Objective: To present a series of patients with elastofibroma dorsi (ED) in order to recall the pathology and justify its diagnostic and therapeutic management in the primary care setting.
Materials and methods: Retrospective observational and longitudinal study of 12 patients with 18ED. Epidemiological, clinical and imaging characteristics were analysed. Treatment outcomes were assessed in terms of pain (VAS scale), shoulder function (Constant and Murley scale) and quality of life (EuroQol-5 dimension scale, EQ-5D). The mean follow-up of the cases was 60.5months (5years, range 1-161months).
Results: Six patients were male and six were female, with a mean age at diagnosis of 59years. The diagnosis of suspicion in all cases was based in clinical and imaging findings. Only three required surgery. The results of all were satisfactory.
Conclusions: Both the diagnosis and the indication for treatment of an ED can be made in the primary care setting. In typical cases, which are the majority, the clinical history and an ultrasound study allow a diagnosis of certainty. The indication for conservative or surgical treatment depends on the informed patient. When there are diagnostic doubts or the patient wishes surgical resection of the tumour, the patient should be referred to a hospital specialist.

Abstract Introduction: Although several studies highlighted the psychological burden of 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, no data are available regarding professionals leading healthcare organisations. This study aims to assess the psychological impact of COVID-19 on healthcare leaders (HeLs), along with the leadership skills and coping strategies needed for successful leadership.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Italy) between October and November 2020. We assessed the presence of depressive symptoms (DS), anxiety symptoms (AS), perceived stress (PS) and insomnia using internationally validated tools. Coping strategies and skills needed to overcome the crisis were examined, along with the most challenging phases.
Results: A total of 48 HeLs participated. The prevalence of DS and AS was 14.6% and 12.5%, respectively. Moderate and severe insomnia was found in 12.5% and 6.3% of them, respectively. Leaders showed moderate (45.8%) and high 4,2%) level of PS. The two most challenging phases were recognised in early recognition (45.2%) and peak phase (31.0%). Concerning healthcare leaders' skills required to manage with pandemic, the most reported were communication (35.1%) and decision-making (25.5%).
Conclusion: The high level of PS, insomnia, DS and AS experienced by healthcare leaders shows the COVID-19 pandemic's psychological impact. The two most challenging phases identified enhances the importance of public health surveillance and monitoring systems, and communication appeared a critical success skill for healthcare leaders. Given the key role these professional play in addressing the current crisis in healthcare organisations, their mental health and well-being deserve greater attention.
