Abstract Understanding how feedback is employed in various forms, positions, and contexts can provide valuable insights into improving communication and the design of human-machine dialogue systems. This paper aims to deepen the understanding of feedback in daily conversation and investigate how feedback is employed in various linguistic forms, position, preceding and following contexts, using a large corpus of telephone conversations. The study identifies three subclasses of feedback, including understandings, agreements, and answers, which account for almost one-third of the total utterances in the corpus. Acknowledge (backchannel) is the most frequently used subtype of feedback, accounting for almost 60% of the feedback, and is primarily used for conversational management and maintenance. Assessment/appreciation, on the other hand, is used less frequently, accounting for less than 10% of feedback, and is mainly realized by more creative, unpredictable, longer forms. The analysis also reveals that speakers are intentional in distinguishing the three subclasses of feedback based on various variables, such as position and the proximal discourse environment. Furthermore, the three subclasses of feedback are restricted by the function of preceding contexts, which shape the length of the remaining turn. The study suggests that future research should focus on exploring the individual differences and investigating the possible variations across different cultures and languages.

Abstract Background: The difference in the long-term outcomes of myocardial infarction in patients with non-obstructed coronary arteries (MINOCA) and patients with myocardial infarction with obstructed coronary artery disease (MI-CAD) is not clear. The current study aimed to pool adjusted data to compare long-term outcomes of MINOCA vs MI-CAD.
Methods: Electronic literature search of PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, and Google Scholar databases was done for publications up to 18th June 2023. Only studies reporting multivariable-adjusted data with > 1 year of follow-up were included.
Results: Sixteen studies met the inclusion criteria. Our meta-analysis revealed no statistically significant difference in the risk of all-cause mortality between MINOCA and MI-CAD patients (HR: 0.90 95% CI 0.68, 1.19 I
Conclusion: A pooled analysis of adjusted outcomes from the available studies indicated that MINOCA and MI-CAD patients have similar long-term all-cause mortality risk. Our conclusions on the risk of cardiovascular mortality, MACE and readmission rates need to be taken with caution due to a lack of adequate studies. Further research is needed to strengthen the evidence on this important subject.

Abstract Objective: To investigate imaging features of fat-poor hepatic angiomyolipomas in noncirrhotic livers in order to enhance the diagnostic accuracy for this condition.
Methods: The clinical and imaging data of 19 patients with fat-poor hepatic angiomyolipoma (fpHAML) was retrospectively analyzed.
Results: Of the 19 patients without hepatitis, cirrhosis, or sarcoidosis, 16 had no clinical symptoms. There were 20 lesions in 19 patients. Macroscopic fat, calcification, hemorrhage, necrosis, and pseudocapsule were not observed in the 20 lesions. All lesions showed marked enhancement on the arterial phase, and the degree of enhancement was significantly higher than that in the adjacent hepatic parenchyma. In 8 cases, the enhancement of the portal phase was higher than that in the arterial phase. Multiple intratumor vessels were observed in the tumor, and lesions with diameters larger than 3.0 cm were more frequently observed. The degree of enhancement of 18 lesions on portal phase or delayed phase was slightly higher than or equal to that in the surrounding hepatic parenchyma. The lesions were hyperintense on diffusion-weighted imaging and showed homogeneous hypointensity on the hepatobiliary phase. Only 6 cases showed the presence of an early draining vein.
Conclusions: These imaging features have some implications for the diagnosis of fpHAML. Therefore, an increased awareness of fpHAML is needed among radiologists.

Abstract Obesity presents a significant global health challenge, increasing the susceptibility to chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. Within the context of obesity, lipid metabolism, adipose tissue formation, and inflammation are intricately linked to endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). ERS modulates metabolism, insulin signaling, inflammation, as well as cell proliferation and death through the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway. Serving as a crucial nexus, ERS bridges the functionality of adipose tissue and the inflammatory response. In this review, we comprehensively elucidate the mechanisms by which ERS impacts adipose tissue function and inflammation in obesity, aiming to offer insights into targeting ERS for ameliorating metabolic dysregulation in obesity-associated chronic diseases such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, fatty liver, and type 2 diabetes.

Abstract A novel photochromic heteropolyacid-based composite film consisting of phosphomolybdic acid (PMoA), ZnO, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was fabricated by a sol-gel process. The microstructure and photochromic properties of the PMoA/ZnO/PVP were characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). The FTIR spectra showed that the basic structures of ZnO and PVP, and the Keggin structure of PMoA in the PMoA/ZnO/PVP composite film, had not been destroyed during the preparation. The TEM images demonstrated that ZnO presented a rod-like structure, while PMoA was spherical, and many PMoA balls adhered to the surface of the ZnO rods. The XPS spectra of Mo 3d indicated that the valency of Mo atoms in the PMoA/ZnO/PVP was changed by visible light exposure. After visible light irradiation, the PMoA/ZnO/PVP varied from slight yellow to blue, while undergoing an opposite color change upon heating. The discoloration mechanism of the PMoA/ZnO/PVP was consistent with the photoelectron transfer mechanism.

Abstract Abstract Background The increased prevalence of myopia creates and earlier age of onset has created public health concerns for the long-term eye health, vision impairment and carries with it a significant economic burden. The quality of the economic evaluation is dependent on the sensitivity and validity of the approaches. Nowadays, there are many approaches to measure patients’ health state utility (HSU). However, little is known regarding the performance of direct approach and indirect approach in people with myopia. This study is aimed to compare the psychometric properties of four HSU approaches among patients with myopia in mainland China, including two direct approaches (TTO and SG), the generic preference-based measures (PBM) (AQoL-7D) and the disease-specific PBM (VFQ-UI). Methods A convenience sampling framework was used to recruit patients with myopia who attended a large ophthalmic hospital in Jinan, China. Spearman’s rank correlations coefficient was used to assess concurrent validity. Known-group validity was analyzed by: (1) whether the patients wear corrective devices; (2) severity of myopia as low or moderate to high of the better eye; (3) duration of myopia as ≤ 10 years or > 10 years. Effect size (ES), relative efficiency (RE) statistic and the largest area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) were used to assess sensitivity. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland–Altman plots were used to assess agreement. Results A valid sample size of 477 myopia patients was analyzed (median duration: 10 years). The mean HSU scores between TTO and SG were similar (0.95) and higher than AQoL-7D (0.89) and VFQ-UI (0.83). Overall, the VFQ-UI had the best performance based on the psychometric analysis. The agreement indicated that there was no pair of approaches that could be used interchangeably. Conclusions The VFQ-UI showed better psychometric properties than other three approaches for providing health state utility in Chinese myopia patients. Given the widespread use ...
