    Abstract Background: Secondary cardiac tumors are a rare disease that is hard to detect when the tumor is small and asymptomatic. This case report focuses on a massive pulmonary metastasis filling almost the entire left atrium. Multimodal enhancement imaging, cardiac contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), enhanced electron computed tomography, and positron emission tomography imaging were applied to detect the malignant origin of this case. The aim of this project was to provide an important basis for clinical treatment and decision-making with multimodal imaging.
    Case presentation: The patient was hospitalized with suspected to be a lumbar spine fracture. According to the multimodal imaging, pathologically confirmed to suffer a cardiac metastasis from small cell lung cancer. EP-regimen (Etoposide 0.1gd 1-5+Nedaplatin 30mgd 1-4) was selected for the systemic chemotherapy of the patient. During three years of follow-up, the left intra-atrial occupancy was significantly reduced.
    Conclusion: Multimodality imaging can cover up the deficiencies of single imaging examinations and further clarify and enrich the understanding of the relationship between the location and the surrounding structure of the mass, thus providing a good reference for clinical treatment and decisionmaking.

    Abstract Intermittent cold stimulation (ICS) enhances broilers' resistance to cold stress. Nonetheless, further research is needed to investigate the underlying mechanisms that enhance cold stress resistance. A total of 160 one-day-old male Ross 308 broilers were randomly divided into 2 groups (CC and CS5), with the CC group managing temperature according to the standard for broiler growth stages, while the CS5 group were subjected to cold stimulation at a temperature 3℃ lower than the CC group for 5 h, every 2 d from 15 to 35 d. Sampling was conducted at 36 d (36D), 50 d (50D) and after acute cold stress for 24 h (Y24). First, we examined the effects of ICS on broiler growth performance, meat quality, antioxidant capacity, and lipid metabolism. The results demonstrated that ICS enhanced the performance of broilers to a certain degree. Specifically, the average weight gain in the CS5 group was significantly higher than that of the CC group, and the feed conversion ratio significantly decreased compared to CC at 4 W and 6 W (P ≤ 0.05). Compared with the CC group, cold stimulation significantly reduced drip loss, shearing force, and yellowness (a* value) of chicken meat, while significantly increased redness (b* value) (P ≤ 0.05). At Y24, the levels of T-AOC and GSH-PX in the serum of the CS5 group were significantly higher than those of the CC group, while the level of MDA was significantly lower (P ≤ 0.05). The content of TG, FFA, and VLDL in the serum of the CS5 group was significantly elevated, whereas the level of TC and HDL was significantly lower (P ≤ 0.05). In addition, we further explored whether AMPK-mTOR pathway is involved in the regulation of changes in lipid metabolism and the possible regulatory mechanisms downstream of the signaling pathway. The results showed that ICS significantly upregulated the expression levels of AMPK mRNA and protein in the liver of the CS5 group at 36D and Y24, while significantly down-regulating mTOR (P ≤ 0.05). Compared with the CC group, ICS significantly down-regulated the mRNA expression levels of lipid synthesis and endoplasmic reticulum stress-related genes (SREBP1c, FAS, SCD, ACC, GRP78 and PERK) at 36D and Y24, while significantly up-regulating the mRNA expression levels of lipid decomposition and autophagy-related genes (PPAR and LC3) (P ≤ 0.05). In addition, at Y24, the protein expression levels of endoplasmic reticulum stress-related genes (GRP78) in the CS5 group were significantly lower, while autophagy-related genes (LC3 and ATG7) were significantly higher (P ≤ 0.05). ICS can affect meat quality and lipid metabolism in broilers, and when broilers are subjected to acute cold stress, broilers trained with cold stimulation have stronger lipid metabolism capacity.

    Abstract Postural abnormalities have become a prevalent issue affecting individuals of all ages, resulting in a diminished quality of life. Easy-use and reliable posture assessment tools can aid in screening for and correcting posture deviation at an early stage. In this study, we present a depth camera-based static posture assessment system to screen for common postural anomalies such as uneven shoulders, pelvic tilt, bowlegs and knock-knees, forward head, scoliosis, and shoulder blade inclination. The system consists of an Azure Kinect camera, a laptop, and evaluation software. Our system accurately measures skeleton and posture indexes and shows favorable agreement with a golden standard optical infrared motion capture system. The findings indicate that the system is a low-cost posture assessment tool with high precision and accuracy, suitable for initial screening of postural abnormalities in individuals of all ages.

    Abstract Background: Functional movement screening (FMS) allows for the rapid assessment of an individual’s physical activity level and the timely detection of sports injury risk. However, traditional functional movement screening often requires on-site assessment by experts, which is time-consuming and prone to subjective bias. Therefore, the study of automated functional movement screening has become increasingly important. Methods: In this study, we propose an automated assessment method for FMS based on an improved Gaussian mixture model (GMM). First, the oversampling of minority samples is conducted, the movement features are manually extracted from the FMS dataset collected with two Azure Kinect depth sensors; then, we train the Gaussian mixture model with different scores (1 point, 2 points, 3 points) of feature data separately; finally, we conducted FMS assessment by using a maximum likelihood estimation. Results: The improved GMM has a higher scoring accuracy (improved GMM: 0.8) compared to other models (traditional GMM = 0.38, AdaBoost.M1 = 0.7, Naïve Bayes = 0.75), and the scoring results of improved GMM have a high level of agreement with the expert scoring (kappa = 0.67). Conclusions: The results show that the proposed method based on the improved Gaussian mixture model can effectively perform the FMS assessment task, and it is potentially feasible to use depth cameras for FMS assessment.

    Abstract Abstract: Sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction represents a major cause of high mortality in intensive care units with limited therapeutic options. Golgi protein 73 (GP73) has been implicated in various diseases. However, the role of GP73 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cardiac dysfunction is unclear. In this study, we established a sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction model by LPS administration in wild-type and GP73 knockout ( GP73-/- ) mice. We found that GP73 was increased in LPS-treated mouse hearts and LPS-cultured neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (NRCMs). Knockout of GP73 alleviated myocardial injury and improved cardiac dysfunction. Moreover, depletion of GP73 in NRCMs relieved LPS-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and activated myocardial autophagy. Therefore, GP73 is a negative regulator in LPS-induced cardiac dysfunction by promoting cardiomyocyte apoptosis and inhibiting cardiomyocyte autophagy.
