Abstract There is no converging evidence on how a word's semantic transparency affects morphemes' potential semantic activation. The inconsistent results may be due to the limitation of traditional univariate analyses, in which the semantic transparency was treated as discrete categories. In the current study, Chinese two-character words were used as stimuli and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques were combined with a priming paradigm. Unlike most previous studies, the multivariate representation similarity analysis (RSA) was used to treat semantic transparency as a continuous variable. The RSA results showed that widespread regions in the frontal-parietal-temporal network represent the semantic perception of characters in all words and transparent words, but no brain areas were identified in opaque words. Unlike RSA results, univariate analyses showed no significant difference between the opaque and transparent words. These results suggest that RSA is more suitable to examine the neural mechanism related to continuous variables such as semantic transparency.

Abstract Hepatoid adenocarcinoma is a rare and unique type of adenocarcinoma, resembling hepatocellular carcinoma in histopathology. Most cases occur in the stomach, lacking specific clinical and imaging manifestations, which leads to high rates of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.Hepatoid adenocarcinoma in the peritoneal cavity is even rarer. This article reports a case of hepatoid adenocarcinoma with the manifestation of diffuse peritoneal thickening, aiming to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract Transition-metal-catalyzed, strain-release-driven transformations of "spring-loaded" bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes (BCBs) are considered potent tools in synthetic organic chemistry. Previously proposed strain-release mechanisms involve either the insertion of the central C-C bond of BCBs into a metal-carbon bond, followed by β-C elimination, or the oxidative addition of the central or lateral C-C bond on the transition metal center, followed by reductive elimination. This study, employing DFT calculations on a Rh(III)-catalyzed model system in a three-component protocol involving oxime ether, BCB ester, and ethyl glyoxylate for constructing diastereoselective quaternary carbon centers, introduces an unusual strain-release mechanism for BCBs. In this mechanism, the catalytic reaction is initiated by the simultaneous cleavage of two C-C bonds (the central and lateral C-C bonds), resulting in the formation of a Rh-carbene intermediate. The new mechanism exhibits a barrier of 21.0 kcal/mol, making it energetically more favorable by 11.1 kcal/mol compared to the previously suggested most favorable pathway. This unusual reaction mode rationalizes experimental observation of the construction of quaternary carbon centers, including the excellent

Abstract Background: Linezolid-induced thrombocytopenia incidence varies considerably. Linezolid-related thrombocytopenia in patients has received few studies which have investigated risk factors including platelet parameters except for platelet counts. The study aims to analyze the effect of platelet parameters, including mean platelet volume and platelet large cell ratio, on linezolid-related thrombocytopenia in patients.
Methods: The effect of platelet parameters on linezolid-related thrombocytopenia was identified by univariate and multivariate logistic regressions. A Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was carried out to compare the survival of patients who developed linezolid-related thrombocytopenia with patients who did not.
Results: Thrombocytopenia occurred at a rate of 41.5% (66/159) after linezolid therapy in hospitalized patients. Platelet parameters, including the difference in mean platelet volume (MPV/fL=0.08 (-1.2-0.9)vs-0.5 (-1.5-0.3), (
Conclusion: The difference in mean platelet volume, the difference in large platelet ratio, baseline platelet counts and duration of linezolid therapy≥10d significantly affected the development of linezolid-related thrombocytopenia in hospitalized patients.
