Abstract In this study, wet oxidation of excess sludge from the caprolactam wastewater treatment process was investigated. The effects of reaction conditions, including sludge concentration, the amount of sludge, reaction temperature and time and the oxygen supply amount, were discussed. The highest removal rates of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and volatile suspended solid (VSS) that can be attained at 78.6 and 89.3% were acquired separately under 260 °C for 60 min with an initial oxygen gas pressure of 1.3 MPa. The sludge was hydrolyzed and oxidized under hydrothermal conditions, producing small molecule organic acids, such as acetic, formic and oxalic acids, as the main products, which could be used as carbon sources for wastewater treatment. These results indicated that wet oxidation provides a favourable and feasible alternative method for the treatment of excess sludge from the coal chemical industry.

Abstract Nanozymes have been widely used in the field of biosensing owing to their high stability, low cost, adjustable catalytic activity, and convenient modification. However, achieving high selectivity and sensitivity simultaneously in nanozyme-based colorimetric sensing remains a major challenge. Nanozymes are nanomaterials with enzyme-simulating activity that are often used as solid-phase adsorbents for sample pretreatment. Our design strategy integrated sample pretreatment function into the nanozyme through separation and enrichment, thereby improving the selectivity and sensitivity of nanozyme-based colorimetric biosensing. As a proof-of-concept, glucose was used as the model analyte in this study. A phenylboric acid-modified magnetic nanozyme (Cu/Fe

Abstract The accurate surveillance and sensitive detection of deferoxamine mesylate (DFO) is of great significance to ensure the safety of thalassemia major patients. Herein, we report a new nanozyme-based colorimetric sensor platform for DFO detection. First, a metal-organic framework (ZIF-67) was used as a precursor for the synthesis of FeNiCo-LDH (Layered Double Hydroxide, LDH) via an ion exchange reaction stirring at room temperature. The results of electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption-desorption showed that FeNiCo-LDH exhibited a 3D hollow and mesopores structure, which supplied more exposed active sites and faster transfer of mass. The as-prepared FeNiCo-LDH showed superior peroxidase-like activity with a low K

Abstract A real-time and specific for the detection of Monoamine Oxidase B (MAO-B) to investigate the MAO-B-relevant disease development and treatment process is urgently desirable. Here, we utilized MAO-B to catalyze the conversion of propylamino groups to aldehyde groups, which was then quickly followed by a β-elimination process to produce fluorescent probes (FNJP) that may be used to detect MAO-B in vitro and in vivo. The FNJP probe possesses unique properties, including favorable reactivity (K

Abstract Landau-Zener tunneling (LZT), i.e., the nonadiabatic transition under strong parameter driving in multilevel systems, is ubiquitous in physics, providing a powerful tool for coherent wave control both in quantum and classical systems. While previous works mainly focus on LZT between two energy bands in time-invariant crystals, here, we construct synthetic time-periodic temporal lattices from two coupled fiber loops and demonstrate dc- and ac-driven LZTs between periodic Floquet bands. We show that dc- and ac-driven LZTs display distinctive tunneling and interference characteristics, which can be harnessed to realize fully reconfigurable LZT beam splitter arrangements. As a potential application to signal processing, we realize a 4-bit temporal beam encoder for classical light pulses using a reconfigurable LZT beam splitter network. Our work introduces and experimentally demonstrates a new class of reconfigurable linear optics circuits harnessing Floquet LZT, which may find versatile applications in temporal beam control, signal processing, quantum simulations, and information processing.

Abstract Groundwater is very important for human productivity and daily life, hydrological cycle regulation, and ecosystem stability. However, due to the complex mechanisms of groundwater drought, the spatial and temporal variations of groundwater drought and its driving mechanisms are still not fully understood, especially in Indochina Peninsula. In this work, we used a reconstructed long-term terrestrial water storage dataset from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) emission and a GRACE-based groundwater drought index to investigate the spatial and temporal characteristics of groundwater drought during 1979-2020 in the Indochina Peninsula. The possible teleconnection mechanisms between groundwater drought and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and El Niño Modoki (ENSO_M) were also investigated using cross wavelet transform method. The results show that groundwater drought worsens significantly during 1979-2020, and becomes much more frequent and intensified after 2000 in the southern Indochina Peninsula. Both univariate and bivariate (logic 'or' and 'and') return periods for duration, severity, and peak of groundwater drought are short in the southern Indochina Peninsula, and thus the risk of groundwater drought is high. The IOD, ENSO, and ENSO_M can reduce the intensity of groundwater drought to a certain extent during the warm phases, but only ENSO_M tends to significantly exacerbate the intensity of groundwater drought during the cold phases in the southern Indochina Peninsula. The variations in groundwater drought are dominated by ENSO_M, and are also coupled influenced by the IOD and ENSO in the southern Indochina Peninsula. The results provide valuable information for the sustainable ecological environment and socioeconomic development, especially development of groundwater drought early warning and prediction models in the Indochina Peninsula.
