Abstract Background: Postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) is safe method of contraception, but with low acceptability rate. Factors that govern acceptability needs to be addressed for increasing its rate. This study was done to assess the acceptance, efficiency, and complications of PPIUCD in tertiary centre of Jharkhand, India.
Methods: This prospective study included antenatal women >34 weeks of gestational age who attended antenatal women in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology between 1st January 2020 to 1
Results: The overall acceptance rate was 36.23% (
Conclusion: In spite of limited awareness, PPIUCD proved to be an effective and safe method of long-acting reversible contraception. However, it had low rate of acceptability. PPIUCD was related to lesser complications as expulsion occurred in only 2 women at 6 months. Factors such as age, religion, tribal/non-tribal, education level, and type of insertion were not associated with acceptability rate. PPIUCD was 100% effective as a contraceptive.

Abstract Metastatic gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors classically appear as contrast-enhancing lesions on computed tomography. However, in a small percentage of patients, these lesions can be cystic in nature, leading to false diagnoses of benign or infectious lesions such as echinococcosis. Hence, every cystic lesion of the liver must be carefully investigated before making the treatment plan. We report a patient with hematemesis caused by a large gastric ulcer with multiple cystic lesions in the left lobe of the liver abutting the stomach. The liver lesions were misdiagnosed as hepatic echinococcosis, and the patient was started on medical therapy. However, when medical therapy failed, the patient underwent surgical excision and the histopathology showed cystic metastases of a gastric neuroendocrine tumor.

Abstract Objectives To determine the clinical profile, management and outcomes in patients of ectopic pregnancy (EP) presenting to the hospital. Methods A prospective observational study was done on 75 women with ectopic pregnancy among a total of 1350 women who attended the Gynecology department over a period of 18 months from December 2020 until June 2022. The details of patients such as age, socioeconomic status, referral, symptoms, obstetric history, and signs and symptoms were recorded. Ultrasound was done and the site of ectopic pregnancy was determined. Management of patients was done according to hospital protocol; outcomes were recorded. Results The frequency of EP in the present study was 5.55%. The majority of the cases (60%) were between 20-30 years of age, from the lower middle class (57%), referral cases (63%), and multigravida (i.e. >G4) (31%) cases. Amenorrhea was the most common symptom seen in 73 (97.33%) cases. On ultrasound, the most common finding was tubo-ovarian mass (33.33%). In the majority of patients [28 (37.33%)], the ampullary region in the fallopian tube was the site of EP. History of pelvic inflammatory disease was most common risk factor [26 (19.5%)]. Surgical management was done in 74 cases and one case was managed medically. Salpingectomy alone was done in 47 (62.67%) cases. Rupture ectopic pregnancy was seen in 71 (95%) cases where all cases needed blood transfusion. One patient needed ventilatory support/ICU admission and had mortality. Conclusion We report a frequency of 5.55% for EP. The patients with EP were in the age groups of 20-40 years and belonged primarily to lower socioeconomic class. The most common symptom was amenorrhea. The most common site of ectopic pregnancy was the ampullary region. Rupture ectopic is a common worrisome complication. Early diagnosis of the site and surgical management is the key to better management of ruptured cases.

Abstract Introduction: Using three-dimensional printed duplicates of the donor teeth, three-dimensional auto-transplantation is a medical procedure that moves a tooth from one location inside a patient to another. The intraoperative practicability during 3D auto-transplantation of teeth was evaluated in the present study.
Material and methods: A prospective multicenter clinical study was done among the subjects.
Results: Canines, premolars, molars, and one extra tooth were all transplanted during the 200 auto-transplantation surgeries among 152 subjects. An initial satisfactory fit of the donor tooth and an extra-alveolar time of less than one minute were achieved in 80% of the surgeries. The extra-alveolar time exceeded 3 minutes in ten teeth. Difficulties that were faced were related to the imaging, patient cooperation, and the bone quality.
Conclusions: The application of the duplicate teeth by 3D printing of a donor tooth all through auto-transplantation techniques reduced the time the tooth stays extra-alveolar as well as the efforts at transplant fitting during implantation. This allowed for more challenging surgeries as well as a speedy and reliable therapy.

Abstract Background: Over-the-counter (OTC) sale of medical abortion (MA) inducing drugs is a common practice. Exploring its impact on women's health and the barriers to avail free MA services at hospital by these women is essential to improve upon policy decision. Methods: A prospective observational study included 112 women following ingestion of MA drugs from nonformal providers. Demography, clinical details, and reasons for not availing free abortion services at hospital were recorded. Results: Among 112 women, mean age was 28.63 (SD 4.7) years. Seventy one (63.39%) women were from rural region; 70.54% were educated below high school; 44 (39.28%) had prior induced abortion; 62.5% had never used any contraception. Majority (101; 90%) took two drugs (Mifepristone and Misoprostol), 28 (25%) used correct dosage. Drugs were consumed beyond 9 weeks of gestation by 25 (22.4%) women. Abnormal vaginal bleeding was commonest 105 (93.75%) presentation. Haemorrhagic shock was noted in 21 (18.75%) women, while 21 (18.7%) women required blood transfusion. “Easy and quick availability of these drugs OTC” was the commonest statement for not attending hospital. Conclusion: Easy and quick availability of OTC drugs, distance to hospital were major barriers. Incorrect dosage and lack of gestational age calculation were two most common errors in the risk assessment protocol. Expanding provider base, by training midlevel providers, can overcome these and unmask the full potential of MA to make abortion safer.
