Abstract The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. The values obtained are ϕ_{s}=-0.039±0.022±0.006  rad, ΔΓ_{s}=0.0845±0.0044±0.0024  ps^{-1}, and Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}=-0.0056_{-0.0015}^{+0.0013}±0.0014  ps^{-1}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ϕ_{s} is also measured independently for each polarization state of the K^{+}K^{-} system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.

Abstract All species of toothed whales studied to date can learn to reduce their hearing sensitivity when warned of an impending intense sound; however, the specific conditions under which animals will employ this technique are not well understood. The present study was focused on determining whether dolphins would reduce their hearing sensitivity in response to an intense tone presented at a fixed rate but increasing level, without an otherwise explicit warning. Auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) to intermittent, 57-kHz tone bursts were continuously measured in two bottlenose dolphins as they were exposed to a series of 2-s, 40-kHz tones at fixed time intervals of 20, 25, or 29 s and at sound pressure levels (SPLs) increasing from 120 to 160 dB re 1 μPa. Results from one dolphin showed consistent ABR attenuation preceding intense tones when the SPL exceeded ∼140-150 dB re 1 μPa and the tone interval was 20 s. ABR attenuation with 25- or 29-s intense tone intervals was inconsistent. The second dolphin showed similar, but more subtle, effects. The results show dolphins can learn the timing of repetitive noise and may reduce their hearing sensitivity if the SPL is high enough, presumably to "self-mitigate" the noise effects.

Abstract Background: Striking the right balance between early cancer diagnosis and the risk of excessive testing for low-risk symptoms is of paramount importance. Patient-centred care must also consider patient preferences for testing.
Aim: To investigate diagnostic testing preferences of the Australian public for symptoms associated with oesophagogastric (OG), bowel, or lung cancer.
Design and setting: One of three discrete choice experiments (DCEs) related to either OG, bowel, or lung cancer were administered to a nationally representative sample of Australians aged 40 and above.
Methods: Each DCE comprised three scenarios with symptom positive predictive values (PPVs) for undiagnosed cancer ranging from 1% to 3%. The numerical risk was concealed from participants. DCE attributes encompassed the testing strategy, GP familiarity, test and result waiting times, travel duration, and test cost. Preferences were estimated using conditional and mixed logit models.
Results: A total of 3013 individuals participated in one of three DCEs: OG (n=1004), Bowel (n=1006), and Lung (n=1003). Preferences were chiefly driven by waiting time, test cost followed by the test type. There was preference for more invasive tests. When confronted with symptoms carrying an extremely low risk (symptom PPV of 1% or less), participants were more inclined to abstain from testing.
Conclusions: Access-related factors, particularly waiting times and testing costs, emerged as the most pivotal elements influencing preferences, underscoring the substantial impact of these systemic factors on patient choices regarding investigations.

Abstract A vaginal septum is a type of Mullerian anomaly that can be longitudinal or transverse, separating the vagina into two canals. Vaginal septa occur due to lack of fusion and recanalization of Mullerian structures, and often present with voiding dysfunction with potential impact on fertility and sexual function. We describe a rare case of concomitant transverse and longitudinal vaginal septa and discuss its presentation. Additionally, we present a unique surgical management of these anomalies. The patient had an uncomplicated postoperative course and had no continence issues on long term follow up.

Abstract Purpose: Nutrition is essential within cancer care, yet patient and carer access to nutrition care and information is variable. This study aimed to (1) investigate patient and carer access and perceptions, and health professional views and practices, relating to cancer nutrition information and care; and (2) co-design interactive resources to support optimal nutrition care.
Methods: Patients and carers completed a survey regarding access to nutrition care and information. Seven multidisciplinary health service teams were invited to participate in a survey and focus group to assess barriers and enablers in nutrition practices. Focus groups were recorded, transcribed and thematically analyzed. Eligible patients, carers, and health professionals were invited to four virtual workshops utilizing experience-based co-design methods to identify nutrition priority areas and design resources. Workshop participant acceptability of the resources was measured.
Results: Of 104 consumer survey respondents (n = 97 patients, n = 7 carers), 61% agreed that it "took too much time to find evidence-based nutrition and cancer information", and 46% had seen a dietitian. Thirty-four of 38 health professionals completed the survey and 30 participated in a focus group, and it was identified the greatest barriers to delivering nutrition care were lack of referral services, knowledge or skill gaps, and time. Twenty participants (n = 10 patients and carers, n = 10 health professionals) attended four workshops and co-designed a suite of 46 novel resources rated as highly acceptable.
Conclusion: Improved communication, training, and availability of suitable resources could improve access to and support cancer nutrition information and care. New, co-designed cancer nutrition resources were created and deemed highly acceptable to patients, carers, and health professionals.

Abstract Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an anticancer therapy with proven efficacy; however, its application is often limited by prolonged skin photosensitivity and solubility issues associated with the phototherapeutic agents. Injectable hydrogels which can effectively provide intratumoral delivery of photosensitizers with sustained release are attracting increased interest for photodynamic cancer therapies. However, most of the hydrogels for PDT applications are based on systems with high complexity, and often, preclinical validation is not provided. Herein, we provide a simple and reliable pH-sensitive hydrogel formulation that presents appropriate rheological properties for intratumoral injection. For this,

Abstract Background: The ability of 3D printing using plastics and resins that are magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compatible provides opportunities to tailor design features to specific imaging needs. In this study an MRI compatible cradle was designed to fit the need for repeatable serial images of mice within a mouse specific low field MRI.
Methods: Several designs were reviewed which resulted in an open style stereotaxic cradle to fit within specific bore tolerances and allow maximum flexibility with interchangeable radiofrequency (RF) coils. CAD drawings were generated, cradle was printed and tested with phantom material and animals. Images were analyzed for quality and optimized using the new cradle. Testing with multiple phantoms was done to affirm that material choice did not create unwanted image artifact and to optimize imaging parameters. Once phantom testing was satisfied, mouse imaging began.
Results: The 3D printed cradle fit instrument tolerances, accommodated multiple coil configurations and physiological monitoring equipment, and allowed for improved image quality and reproducibility while also reducing overall imaging time and animal safety.
Conclusions: The generation of a 3D printed stereotaxic cradle was a low-cost option which functioned well for our laboratory.

Abstract A nickel/dppf catalyst system was found to successfully achieve the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of 3- and 4-chloropyridine and of 6-chloroquinoline but not of 2-chloropyridine or of other α-halo-N-heterocycles. Further investigations revealed that chloropyridines undergo rapid oxidative addition to [Ni(COD)(dppf)] but that α-halo-N-heterocycles lead to the formation of stable dimeric nickel species that are catalytically inactive in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions. However, the corresponding Kumada-Tamao-Corriu reactions all proceed readily, which is attributed to more rapid transmetalation of Grignard reagents.
