Abstract In this multicenter study, 2D spatial mapping of J-coupled resonances at 3T and 4T was performed using short-TE (15 ms) proton echo-planar spectroscopic imaging (PEPSI). Water-suppressed (WS) data were acquired in 8.5 min with 1-cm(3) spatial resolution from a supraventricular axial slice. Optimized outer volume suppression (OVS) enabled mapping in close proximity to peripheral scalp regions. Constrained spectral fitting in reference to a non-WS (NWS) scan was performed with LCModel using correction for relaxation attenuation and partial-volume effects. The concentrations of total choline (tCho), creatine + phosphocreatine (Cr+PCr), glutamate (Glu), glutamate + glutamine (Glu+Gln), myo-inositol (Ins), NAA, NAA+NAAG, and two macromolecular resonances at 0.9 and 2.0 ppm were mapped with mean Cramer-Rao lower bounds (CRLBs) between 6% and 18% and approximately 150-cm(3) sensitive volumes. Aspartate, GABA, glutamine (Gln), glutathione (GSH), phosphoethanolamine (PE), and macromolecules (MMs) at 1.2 ppm were also mapped, although with larger mean CRLBs between 30% and 44%. The CRLBs at 4T were 19% lower on average as compared to 3T, consistent with a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and increased spectral resolution. Metabolite concentrations were in the ranges reported in previous studies. Glu concentration was significantly higher in gray matter (GM) compared to white matter (WM), as anticipated. The short acquisition time makes this methodology suitable for clinical studies.

Abstract Objective: Atherosclerosis is a chronic lipid-driven inflammatory disease of the arterial wall. Due to its cardiovascular ischemic complications, it is one of the most common causes of death in people. However, atherosclerosis is seldomly reported in dogs.
    Animal: A 10-year-old male mixed-breed dog.
Clinical presentation, progression, and procedures: Severe acute kidney injury associated with thrombosis of the abdominal aorta.
Treatment and outcome: Treatment included renal replacement therapy, antithrombotic therapy, and supportive care. However, the dog developed neurological and respiratory complications and was euthanized due to worsening kidney function and lack of improvement of the thrombosis. Postmortem examination confirmed the presence of aortic thromboembolism and renal infarcts. Histology revealed severe chronic-active atherosclerosis of the distal aorta and renal arteries.
Clinical relevance: Aortic thrombosis is uncommon in dogs, and it is often associated with underlying conditions such as protein-losing nephropathy, endocrine disorders, cardiac disease, or hypercoagulability. In this case, no specific underlying cause was identified and atherosclerosis was considered the primary cause of the thrombosis.

Abstract Introduction: The agreement between clinicians diagnosing major depressive disorder (MDD) is poor. The objective of this study was to identify a reproducible and robust gene expression marker capable of differentiating MDD from healthy control (HC) subjects.
Materials and methods: Brain and blood gene expression datasets were searched, which included subjects with MDD and HC. The largest database including different areas of brain samples (GSE80655) was used to identify an initial gene expression marker. Tests of robustness and reproducibility were then implemented in 13 brain and 7 blood independent datasets. Correlations between expression in brain and blood samples were also examined. Finally, an enrichment analysis to explore the marker biological meaning was completed.
Results: Twenty-eight genes were differentially expressed in GSE80655, of which 23 were critical to differentiate MDD from HC. The accuracy obtained using the 23 genes was 0.77 and 0.8, before and after the forward selection model, respectively. The gene marker's robustness and reproducibility were between the range of 0.46 and 0.63 in the other brain datasets and between 0.45 and 0.78 for the blood datasets. Brain and blood expression tended to correlate in some samples. Thirteen of the 23 genes were related to stress and immune response.
Conclusion: A 23 gene expression marker was able to distinguish subjects with MDD from HC, with adequate reproducibility and low robustness in the independent databases investigated. This gene set was similarly expressed in the brain and blood and involved genes related to stress and immune response.

Abstract Objective: To determine whether CPR providers can perform chest compressions (CC) appropriately at a rate of 150 compressions per minute during a 2-minute cycle and to identify the presence of rescuer fatigue.
    Design: High fidelity simulator study.
    Setting: University veterinary teaching hospital.
Subjects: Sixty subjects, 30 women and 30 men.
Interventions: Subjects performed CC at 150 compressions per minute on a dog manikin for 2 minutes. Real-time depth of compressions, compression release, and compression rate were measured using a CPR training device. Demographic data from the subjects were analyzed alongside data obtained from the monitoring device.
Measurements and main results: Only 38.3% of participants were able to perform CC with appropriate depth and release at 150 compressions per minute during a 2-minute cycle. There was a decay in the quality of CC between the first and the second minute. The number of compressions and percentage of compressions with correct release were similar among various genders, ages, and professions. In contrast, the percentage of compressions with correct depth was significantly higher among individuals with higher body mass index (correlation coefficient [r] = 0.293; P = 0.023) and higher biceps brachii muscle circumference during muscle contraction (r = 0.423; P = 0.001).
Conclusions: This study suggests that increasing the compression rate to 150 compressions per minute in large dogs using the thoracic pump technique might not be viable because most participants were not able to sustain enough appropriate CC. Rescuer fatigue affects compression depth at this rate, leading to a decay in CPR quality.

Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic demyelinating disorder resulting in demyelination, neuroaxonal degeneration, and sclerosis. This often-debilitating disease affects young females mainly. Literature describing the pathology and phenotypic features is vast. Although there are extensive descriptions of new-onset MS presentations, few document the initial presentation as a transient ischemic attack or ischemic stroke. The case we present highlights the rarity of such presentation. In the literature, we found scarce reports about MS as presenting as a stroke mimicker with some studies quoting from 2.2% to 4.4% of the cases having MS. Our case serves as a reminder that MS can mimic acute ischemic strokes and the importance of maintaining MS apart of the differential in a young female with no significant history present with acute neurological deficits to reduce the complications of MS and the healthcare-associated costs.

Abstract Background: Bullying is a pervasive issue that can occur in any setting, including among nursing students and within the nursing profession. Faculty members have a vital role in resolving bullying.
Objectives: To examine the nursing faculty members' responses to incidents of bullying within two nursing institutions in Pangasinan.
    Design: Descriptive- comparative design.
Settings: Two Colleges of Nursing in a city in Pangasinan, Philippines.
Participants: Nursing students from first to fourth year BS Nursing students.
Methods: An online survey was the main tool in this study, Lynch formula was utilized to calculate the sample size. There are 458 nursing students who participated in this study. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, and t-test were used to analyze the data.
Results: It was revealed that faculty members sometimes address bullying by group discussion (M = 3.26, SD = 1.27), and they almost never utilized non-intervention in bullying (M = 2.33, SD = 0.85). There is a variation in terms of group discussion with a one-way ANOVA score of F (2, 455) = 3.22, p = 0.04, when faculty members are grouped according to their degrees. Regarding the difference between the faculty members' responses to bullying when grouped according to gender, there is a significant difference between male and female for mediation (t(457) = 2.10, p = 0.04), group discussion (t(457) = 2.79, p = 0.01), victim support (t(457) = 2.54, p = 0.01), and disciplinary methods (t(457) = 2.66, p = 0.01).
Conclusion: The study emphasizes the complex nature of tackling bullying among nursing students. It highlights the efficacy of several solutions used by faculty members, such as group discussions, mediation, victim assistance, and disciplinary measures. The findings indicate that a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics involved in addressing bullying is necessary. This understanding highlights the significance of a cooperative and compassionate strategy that includes all individuals involved in the educational setting. It is clear that a standardized approach may not be enough, and customized techniques that take into account the particular circumstances and requirements of the persons involved are essential.
