Abstract Objective To conduct molecular epidemiological investigations on Han and Buyi women at Libo county of Guizhou province aiming for the identification of genetic polymorphisms coding the key enzymes for folate metabolism MTHFR and MTRR. Methods A total of 1 342 healthy women who received perinatal health care at the People's Hospital of Libo county were recruited, including 236 Han people and 1 106 Buyi people. Oral mucosal epithelial exfoliated cells were collected for genomic DNA extraction, MTHFR C677T, A1298C, and MTRR A66G gene polymorphisms were examined with quantitative PCR for statistical analysis. Results 1)The genetic polymorphism distribution of the subjects was in line with genetic balance. 2)The genotype frequency of MTHFR 677CC, CT, and TT of Han women was 49.6%, 39.8%, and 10.6% respectively, and that of Buyi women were 61.8%,33.7% and 4.4%. The frequencies were 62.3%, 33.1%, 4.7%, and Buyi females were 47.4%, 42.9%, and 9.7%, both points are significantly different(P<0.05). The genotype frequencies of MTRR 66AA, AG, and GG of Han women were 56.4%, 37.4%, and 5.9%, respectively, and that of Buyi women were 57.0%, 36.0%, and 7.1%, with no difference. 3)Han and Buyi women MTHFR C677T and A1 298C had 6 combinations of two-point linkage without CT/CC, TT/AC and TT/CC. The highest frequency of Han women was CT/AA, and the highest frequency of Buyi women was CC/AC. The haplotype constructed by the two loci had three combinations of CA, TA, and CC, and there was a complete linkage disequilibrium between the two loci. Conclusions The genetic characterization of MTHFR and MTRR polymorphisms in Han and Buyi women at Libo county provides a basis for guiding folic acid supplementation and implementation of personalized pregnancy health care.

Abstract The nickel-rich cathode LiNi₀.₆Co₀.₁Mn₀.₃O₂ (NCM613) is a promising cathode material but has poor cycle stability, especially at a high cutoff voltage. Aiming at modulating the unit cell parameters via heteroatom dopants while providing a lithium-ion conductor coating, in this work, boron-based-modified NCM613 has been synthesized with both LiBO₂ coating and boron doping via a solid-state method. The optimal modified sample LBO-0.4 exhibits excellent cycle stability at room temperature (2.8–4.5 V) with a retention of 94.8% at 1 C after 100 cycles (versus 79.7% of the pristine sample LBO-0) and 70.7% at 5 C after 1000 cycles (versus a retention lower than 1% for LBO-0). The DLᵢ⁺ values of LBO-0.4 are significantly higher than those of LBO-0, which is attributed to the enlarged crystal lattice volume generated by the incorporation of B³⁺ into NCM613. Combined with characterization by Ar sputtering-assisted XPS, TEM, XRD, etc., it is illustrated that LiBO₂ coating and B³⁺ doping can synergistically enhance the electrochemical performance of the NCM613 at a high cutoff voltage, high temperature, and high rate. In addition, DFT calculations disclose that the boron dopant is preferential to locate in the interstice among three Ni atoms of the TM–O layer of NCM, which facilitates the formation of more amount Ni²⁺, leading to the improved electrochemical performance of NCM613. Such ion doping and surface coating strategy can provide useful guidance on the modification of other layered oxide cathode materials.

Abstract We reported a dual-wavelength femtosecond optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on a temperature-tuned LiB₃O₅ crystal. The OPO was synchronously pumped by a frequency-doubled, mode-locked Yb-fiber laser amplifier, providing a 520 nm pump laser with durations of 250 fs at a repetition rate of 57 MHz. High efficiency and dual-wavelength operation are obtained over the ranges of 658-846 nm and 2.45-1.35 μm. The observed dual-wavelength tuning is in agreement with the values predicted by numerical simulation. Moreover, a sum-frequency yellow laser of the longer signal and idler tunable from 555 to 623 nm with practical power is achieved. With an 8% output coupler, the maximum signal output power is 390 mW pumped at 3 W with dual-wavelength operation, while the maximum power of sum-frequency generation is 110 mW at 590 nm.

Abstract During field surveys between October, 2010 and October, 2011, we investigated bat species diversity in 69 caves in 6 townships in the Libo World Natural Heritage Site located in the South China Karst region. We also investigated bat specimens from the zoological museum of the School of Life Sciences, Guizhou Normal University, and reviewed pertinent literature as well. We uncovered 7 families encompassing 24 bat species in the area, including 2 new records of species for Guizhou Province, i.e., Myotis blythii and Hipposideros pomona, and 11 species first documented in Libo. Unfortunately, many caves have been exploited for tourism, thereby posing a great threat to the survival of cave-dwelling bats. We propose some special strategies that could be taken to protect the bats roosting in these caves.
