Abstract The textual tradition of the Bible has inspired many of the most significantdevelopments, principles and methodologies in editorial practice, from theparallel texts and critical symbols of Origen's Hexapla in the early third centuryto Lachmann's nineteeth-century stemmatics. It is therefore unsurprising that,in this digital age, the New Testament continues to be at the forefront of newand exciting initiatives. The present chapter describes the workflow and toolsdeveloped for the Editio Critica Maior of the Greek New Testament, in particularthose associated with the Workspace for Collaborative Editing, and howthese have shaped the task of editing both the text and documents of the NewTestament and offer new models of publication thanks to the capacity of electronicmedia and the Internet

Abstract Introduction: Service-learning (SL) is a pedagogy that can be used in healthcare education to develop students who are better prepared to address the various social determinants of health and to provide compassionate care to the diverse populations they will serve. Yet, an assessment of the quality and scope of the SL activities used in physician assistant (PA) education is not available. The purpose of this scoping review is to review the literature and identify and summarize articles about SL courses in PA education.
Methods: We performed a scoping literature search of 4 databases (CINAHL, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus) to identify peer-reviewed journal articles about SL in PA education. Studies that did not include PA students, were not a service-learning activity (but instead an interprofessional activity, simulation, or volunteerism), or were not a full article were all excluded.
Results: Nine articles were included in this scoping review after independent evaluation by 2 investigators based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The most common reason for exclusion was lack of distinct learning objectives specific to the service learning and/or a lack of a structured, guided critical reflection that helped realize and demonstrate the desired learning outcomes.
Discussion: Although service-learning is considered to be a high-impact teaching practice, it is still an underutilized tool in PA education. Training faculty in the implementation of SL to align the hands-on activity with specific course learning objectives and in the effective use of structured critical reflection can create a more impactful and authentic SL educational experience.

Abstract Background: Firearm-related violence (FRV) is a public health crisis in the United States that impacts individuals across the lifespan. This study sought to investigate patterns of injury and outcomes of firearm-related injury (FRI) in elderly victims and the impact of social determinants of health on this age demographic.
Methods: A retrospective review of the trauma registry at a large Level I center was performed from 2016-2021. Patients over age 18 were included and FRI was defined by ICD 9 and 10 codes. Comparisons were then made between elderly (age > 65 years) and non-elderly (age 18-64 years) victims. The primary outcome was mortality. Secondary outcomes included hospital and intensive care unit length of stay, in-hospital complications and the impact of distressed community index (DCI) and insurance status on discharge disposition.
Results: 23,975 patients were admitted for traumatic injury and 4,133 (6 %) were elderly. Of these, 134 had penetrating injuries and 72 (54 %) were FRI. The elderly patients had a median age of 69y and they were predominantly black (50 %) males (85%). Over 75 % had some form of government insurance compared to less than 20% in non-elderly (p<0.001). 33 % of elderly FRIs were self-inflicted compared to only 4 % in the non-elderly cohort and their overall mortality rate was 25 % versus 15 % in non-elderly with FRI (p = 0.038). The median DCI for the non-elderly victims was 72.3 [IQR 53.7-93.1] compared to 63.7 [IQR 33.2-83.6] in the elderly (p < 0.001), however, over 50 % of elderly victims were living in "at risk" or "distressed" communities.
Conclusion: FRV is a public health crisis across the lifespan and elderly individuals represent a vulnerable subset of patients with unique needs and public health considerations. While many interventions target youth and young adults, it is imperative to not overlook the elderly in injury prevention efforts, particularly self-directed violence. Additionally, given most elderly victims were on government funded insurance and had a higher likelihood of requiring more costly discharge dispositions, new policies should take into consideration the potential financial burden of FRV in the elderly.

Abstract Disparities in exclusionary discipline practices are well-documented; however, variation in Black students' disciplinary experiences across different racial and ethnic school compositions remains understudied. Utilizing a state-wide dataset (N = 769,050 students in J = 1296 schools), we examined student- and school-level factors that contribute to suspensions for Black students across schools with varying racial and ethnic diversity. Consistent with prior research, we found that Black students were disproportionately suspended more often, for more days, and more likely for soft offenses. We also found that students in majority Black schools (i.e., those where >50% of the students were Black) had the highest unadjusted rates of suspension. However, when controlling for multiple other student- and school-level characteristics, including overall suspension rates, we found that Black students attending majority White schools had a higher adjusted risk of suspension than in majority Black or heterogenous diverse schools, suggesting higher rates of differential treatment in White majority schools. We discuss the implications of these results and the role school psychologists play in supporting professional development, training, and data-based decision making to reduce disproportionality.

Abstract Background: While the literature has demonstrated a higher prevalence of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the general population compared with central sleep apnea (CSA), more evidence is needed on the long-term clinical impact of and optimal treatment strategies for CSA.
Observations: CSA is overrepresented among certain clinical populations, such as those with heart failure, stroke, neuromuscular disorders, and opioid use. The clinical concerns with CSA parallel those of OSA. The absence of respiration (apneas and hypopneas due to lack of effort) results in sympathetic surge, compromise of oxygenation and ventilation, sleep fragmentation, and elevation in blood pressure. Symptoms such as excessive daytime sleepiness, morning headaches, witnessed apneas, and nocturnal arrhythmias are shared between the 2 disorders. A systematic clinical approach should be used to identify and treat CSA.
Conclusions: The purpose of this review is to familiarize the primary care community with CSA to aid in the identification and management of this breathing disturbance.

Abstract People are continually exposed to the rich complexity generated by the repetition of fractal patterns at different size scales. Fractals are prevalent in natural scenery and also in patterns generated by artists and mathematicians. In this chapter, we will investigate the powerful significance of fractals for the human senses. In particular, we propose that fractals with mid-range complexity play a unique role in our visual experiences because the visual system has adapted to these prevalent natural patterns. This adaptation is evident at multiple stages of the visual system, ranging from data acquisition by the eye to processing of this data in the higher visual areas of the brain. Based on these results, we will discuss a fluency model in which the visual system processes mid-complexity fractals with relative ease. This fluency optimizes the observer's capabilities (such as enhanced attention and pattern recognition) and generates an aesthetic experience accompanied by a reduction in the observer's physiological stress levels. In addition to reviewing people's responses to viewing fractals, we will compare these responses to recent research focused on fractal sounds and fractal surface textures. We will extend our fractal fluency model to allow for stimuli across multiple senses.
