Abstract Background: Pharmacists are an increasing part of the primary care health care team in Scotland. Recruitment to this expanding sector has largely come from community pharmacy. However, it is unknown if these pharmacists have specific needs to perform their role within the primary care team.
Aim: To explore the perceived challenges and enablers of community pharmacists transitioning into primary care pharmacist roles.
Method: Eight pharmacists (5 female, 3 male, median age 32) across Scotland's largest regional health board who previously practised in community pharmacy participated in a recorded, semi-structured interview via Microsoft Teams® to explore their challenges and enablers of transition into primary care. Recordings were transcribed, verified, and thematic analysis then undertaken.
Results: Five themes were identified: challenging transition, transferable skills, transferable training from community pharmacy, training needs for primary care role, and benefits of structured learning. Participants reported lack of opportunity to apply their clinical knowledge and for professional development in community pharmacy.
Conclusion: Pharmacists in our study reported a range of challenges (such as examination skills, improved clinical and therapeutics knowledge) required to practice in primary care, while their regular patient contact and knowledge of community pharmacy workings enabled their transition. Previous sectors of practice should be taken into consideration when inducting pharmacists into a new role and background specific inductions may need to be implemented to support these pharmacists work autonomously at an advanced level.

Abstract Purpose: Trauma registries are essential tools for trauma systems and underpin any quality improvement activities. This paper describes the history, function, challenges, and future goals of the New Zealand National Trauma Registry (NZTR).
Methods: Using the available publications and knowledge of the authors, the development, governance, oversight, and usage of the registry is outlined.
Results: The New Zealand Trauma Network has run a national trauma registry since 2015 and this now contains over fifteen thousand major trauma patient records. Annual reports and a range of research outputs have been published. Key quality improvement initiatives have been undertaken and are described. Vulnerabilities include lack of longterm funding and a small workforce.
Conclusions: The NZTR has proven to be a critical component of trauma quality improvement in New Zealand. A user-friendly portal and a simple minimum dataset have been keys to successes but maintenance of an effective structure in a constrained healthcare system is a challenge.

Abstract The lycophyte Phylloglossum drummondii is the sole inhabitant of its genus in the Huperzioideae group and one of a small minority of plants which perform uridine to cytidine RNA editing. We assembled the P. drummondii chloroplast and mitochondrial genomes and used RNA sequence data to build a comprehensive profile of organellar RNA editing events. In addition to many C-to-U editing events in both organelles, we found just four U-to-C editing events in the mitochondrial transcripts cob, nad1, nad5 and rpl2. These events are conserved in related lycophytes in the genera Huperzia and Phlegmariurus. De novo transcriptomes for three of these lycophytes were assembled to search for putative U-to-C RNA editing enzymes. Four putative U-to-C editing factors could be matched to the four mitochondrial U-to-C editing sites. Due to the unusually few numbers of U-to-C RNA editing sites, P. drummondii and related lycophytes are useful models for studying this poorly understood mechanism.
