Abstract Liu-Wei-Di-Huang (LW) is a Yin nourishing and kidney tonifying prescription in traditional Chinese medicine with promising pharmacological characteristics that can be further exploited and developed in modern medicine. We provide a comprehensive and detailed literature report on the clinical and experimental pharmacology of LW, including its quality control parameters, phytochemistry, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology. Our literature review indicates that the LW prescription possesses a unique combination of pharmacological characteristics that can be safely used for treating very different diseases. Quality control and pharmacokinetic parameters of LW are mostly based on its major bioactive phytochemical constituents. We postulate that modulating or rebalancing the neuroendocrine immunomodulation network in the body is the underlying mechanism of the multiple pharmacological activities displayed by LW.

Abstract Wei AH platform is a platform composed of 8 horizontal wells in Weiyuan shale gas area. The number of faults in the area is small, and natural fractures are locally developed. Therefore, it is necessary to take volume reconstruction as the core mining technology and establish the geology-engineering integration model for the platform according to the geology-engineering integration concept. On the basis of geological model, combined with one-dimensional rock mechanics profile, the geomechanical model of Wei AH platform is established by means of deep diagenetic theory. Based on geological model and geomechanical model, the well trajectory design model, fracturing design model and reservoir numerical simulation model are modeled and optimized respectively. Finally, it can realize the comprehensive application of geophysical, geological, mechanical and seepage data, and complete the mutual call and matching of all kinds of understanding and models.

Abstract Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic and autoimmune inflammatory disease ending with the destruction of joints. Current therapies can relieve RA symptoms, but some also bring severe adverse events. Therefore, an effective and safe therapeutic strategy remains to be created to benefit patients with RA by large. Jia Wei Niu Bang Zi granule (NBZG) consisting of RA-fighting Chinese herbals has been used in Longhua Hospital in the last several decades. NBZG has potential therapeutic effect on RA, which should be evaluated by larger sample clinical trial.
Methods: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials will be conducted to determine the efficiency of NBZG in pain relief and joint protection. A total of 120 patients with active RA will be enrolled, and treated with NBZG or placebo for 12 weeks. The primary outcome measurements include rate of American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 50 at 12 weeks' treatment. The 2nd outcome measurements include rate change of ACR20, ACR70, the disease activity score (DAS) 28, 36-item Short-Form Health Survey Questionnaire, Health Assessment Questionnaire - Disability Index, score changes of Patient Assessment of Arthritis Pain, Patient Global Assessment of Arthritis, and the Athens insomnia scale at the same time points.
Discussion: Although NBZG has shown efficacy in treating RA in Longhua Hospital for decades, the universality of this efficacy needs evaluated. The results of this trial will provide a convincing evidence about NBZG's efficacy in treating active RA in a large population.
Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT03173040 (registered on May 30, 2017).

Abstract: ... actually only has four independent parameters. It is shown exactly that the Wei [Phys. Rev. A 42, 2524 ...

Abstract By employing the dissociation energy and the equilibrium bond length for a diatomic molecule as explicit parameters, we generate improved expressions for the well-known Rosen-Morse, Manning-Rosen, Tietz, and Frost-Musulin potential energy functions. It is found that the well-known Tietz potential function that is conventionally defined in terms of five parameters [T. Tietz, J. Chem. Phys. 38, 3036 (1963)] actually only has four independent parameters. It is shown exactly that the Wei [Phys. Rev. A 42, 2524 (1990)] and the well-known Tietz potential functions are the same solvable empirical function. When the parameter h in the Tietz potential function has the values 0, +1, and -1, the Tietz potential becomes the standard Morse, Rosen-Morse, and Manning-Rosen potentials, respectively.

Abstract WANG Ji, the famous doctor in the Ming dynasty, devoted all his life to writing books and had completed 14 books in his lifetime. He established the academic thought of Ying-Wei (Yingqi and Weiqi) deficiency and excess and Renshe-Huangqi which was that both have the function of nourishment. This had a positive influence on correcting some scholars' opinion in the Ming dynasty, which was if using bitter and cold herbs to nourish Yin, it usually damaged the Qi of spleen and stomach; and influence on formation of the Gubenpeiyuan School (consolidating Yuanqi to enhance body resistance). The formation of the thought was related to the background of some iatrogenic illness whereby Yang deficiency of spleen and stomach was caused by excess use of bitter and cold medicine. WANG Ji's academic thought was mainly refined from Ying-Wei theory in the Neijing, spleen-stomach theory of LI Dongyuan and excess of Yang and deficiency of Yin theory of ZHU Danxi, and was also influenced by the thought of other doctors at the same time.
