Abstract Mud volcano is one of the most important conduits for deep seated materials to migrate upward in sedimentary basins, convergent margins, and subduction zones. Understanding their temporal and spatial characteristics and variations provides us the important information on fluid sources and chemical compositions at depth. Mud volcano Lei-Gong-Huo (MV LGH) is a unique mud volcano, which is located on the mélange formation lying on the andesitic volcanic arc. Fluids emitted from 46 mud pools in MV LGH in eastern Taiwan were sampled and their major trace constitutes as well as H, O, and Sr isotopes (87Sr/86Sr and δ88Sr) were measured. Major constitutes of the fluids are Cl−, Na, and Ca. Compared with seawater, LGH fluids have lower Cl−, δD, δ18O, Na/Cl, K/Cl, and Mg/Cl but higher Ca/Cl ratios, indicating water–rock interaction of igneous rock and the ancient seawater at the source region. This interpretation is further supported by Sr isotopes, which show low value of 87Sr/86Sr ratio down to 0.70708. The result of spatial distribution showing strong negative correlation between Na and Ca concentration as well as Ca and 87Sr/86Sr ratios indicates that two end-member mixing is the major chemical characteristic. The fluids interacting with igneous rock carry high Ca, high δ88Sr, low Na, and low 87Sr/86Sr ratio, while those interacting with sedimentary rock carry low Ca, low δ88Sr, high Na, and high 87Sr/86Sr ratio. The source from the igneous region dominates the eastern and southeastern parts of the mud pools while sedimentary source dominates the western and northwestern parts. Most mud pools show mixing behavior between the two sources. Some of the sedimentary-dominated mud pools reveal existence of residual ancient water as indicated by 87Sr/86Sr. The major factor to fractionate the stable Sr isotopes in LGH waters is the source lithology. In summary, fluids emitted by mud pools in LGH originate from two sources, which are water–rock interactions of igneous rock with the ancient seawater from the east and sedimentary rock from the west at depth, resulting from the complex geologic background of mélange formation.

Abstract The 853 m thick sediment sequence recovered at ODP Site 1148 provides an unprecedented record of tectonic and paleoceanographic evolution in the South China Sea over the past 33 Ma. Litho-, bio-, and chemo-stratigraphic studies helped identify six periods of changes marking the major steps of the South China Sea geohistory. Rapid deposition with sedimentation rates of 60 m/Ma or more characterized the early Oligocene rifting. Several unconformities from the slumped unit between 457 and 495 mcd together erased about 3 Ma late Oligocene record, providing solid evidence of tectonic transition from rifting/slow spreading to rapid spreading in the South China Sea. Slow sedimentation of ~20-30 m/Ma signifies stable seafloor spreading in the early Miocene. Dissolution may have affected the completeness of Miocene-Pleistocene succession with short-term hiatuses beyond current biostratigraphical resolution. Five major dissolution events, D-1 to D-5, characterize the stepwise development of deep water masses in close association to post-Oligocene South China Sea basin transformation. The concurrence of local and global dissolution events in the Miocene and Pliocene suggests climatic forcing as the main mechanism causing deep water circulation changes concomitantly in world oceans and in marginal seas. A return of high sedimentation rate of 60 m/Ma to the late Pliocene and Pleistocene South China Sea was caused by intensified down-slope transport due to frequent sea level fluctuations and exposure of a large shelf area during sea level low-stands. The six paleoceanographic stages, respectively corresponding to rifting (~33-28.5 Ma), changing spreading southward (28.5-23 Ma), stable spreading to end of spreading (23-15 Ma), post-spreading balance (15-9 Ma), further modification and monsoon influence (9-5 Ma), and glacial prevalence (5-0 Ma), had transformed the South China Sea from a series of deep grabens to a rapidly expanding open gulf and finally to a semi-enclosed marginal sea in the past 33 Ma.

Abstract With the rapid economic development, the financial industry has quietly become the leader of industries, the core and lifeblood of promoting economic development. At the same time, various financial services and management platforms emerge one after another. However, the emergence of financial services and management platforms cannot effectively alleviate the current financial crisis. In the face of increasingly complex financial risks, traditional financial service and management platforms cannot achieve effective information sharing, which leads to continued low service and management efficiency and frequent financial risk problems. Support vector machine is a data classification algorithm based on supervision, which can realize data sharing and improve the efficiency of data processing. The article firstly readjusted the underlying architecture of the financial service and management platform to break through the barriers of data interaction. Then on this basis, the article further combines the support vector machine algorithm and extends it from binary data classification to multivariate classification. Finally, the paper redesigns the financial service and management platform considering support vector machines. After a series of experiments, it can be found that the financial service and management platform based on the support vector machine algorithm can reduce the financial risk by 17.2%, improve the financial service level by 30.2%, and improve the financial comprehensive service level by 45.2%. At the same time, thanks to information sharing and interaction, the financial service and management platform can effectively predict financial risks, and the accuracy of the prediction basically reaches 78.9%. This shows that a financial service and management platform that takes into account the support vector machine algorithm can effectively prevent financial risks and improve the efficiency of financial services and management.

Abstract Co-combustion of coal and biomass has the potential to reduce the cost of power generation in plants. However, because of the high content of the alkali metal of biomass ash, co-combustion of these two fuels leads to unpredictable ash fusion temperature (AFT). This study conducted experiments to measure the AFT of straw, sludge, and herb residue when they were blended with coal at different ratios. Additionally, a machine learning algorithm called tuna swarm optimization (TSO) was employed to optimize the support vector regression (SVR) model to predict the softening temperature (ST) of samples. The results indicate that straw and sludge were found to be suitable for blending in small proportions, while herb residue was suitable for blending in larger proportions. In comparison to the traditional grid search optimization model, the TSO algorithm significantly enhances the prediction accuracy of both training and test sets, and improves the generalization ability of SVR.
