Abstract Objective: To study the influence of antiviral drugs combined with antioxidant therapy on liver injury and fibrosis process in patients with chronic hepatitis B cirrhosis. Methods: A total of118 patients with chronic hepatitis B cirrhosis who were treated in Dongying Hospital for Infectious Diseases between May 2013 and February 2016 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the control group (n=60) who underwent routine antiviral therapy and the observation group (n=58) who underwent antiviral drugs combined with antioxidant therapy. Serum levels of oxidative stress indexes, liver function indexes and liver fibrosis indexes were compared between two groups of patients before and after treatment. Results: Before treatment, there were no significant differences in serum oxidative stress indexes, liver function indexes and liver fibrosis indexes between two groups of patients. 3 months after treatment, serum oxidative stress index SOD level in observation group was higher than that in control group while AOPPs level was lower than that in control group; serum liver function indexes AST, ALT and TBIL levels in observation group were lower than those in control group while ALB level was higher than that in control group; serum liver fibrosis indexes HA, Ⅳ-C, PCIII and LN levels in observation group were lower than those in control group. Conclusion: Antiviral drugs combined with antioxidant therapy can significantly reduce oxidative stress injury in patients with chronic hepatitis B cirrhosis so as to protect the liver function and inhibit the liver fibrosis process.

Abstract Background: Sleep disorders are a prevalent non-motor symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD), although reliable biological markers are presently lacking.
Objectives: To explore the associations between sleep disorders and serum neurofilament light chain (NfL) levels in individuals with prodromal and early PD.
Methods: The study contained 1113 participants, including 585 early PD individuals, 353 prodromal PD individuals, and 175 healthy controls (HCs). The correlations between sleep disorders (including rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS)) and serum NfL levels were researched using multiple linear regression models and linear mixed-effects models. We further investigated the correlations between the rates of changes in daytime sleepiness and serum NfL levels using multiple linear regression models.
Results: In baseline analysis, early and prodromal PD individuals who manifested specific behaviors of RBD showed significantly higher levels of serum NfL. Specifically, early PD individuals who experienced nocturnal dream behaviors (β = 0.033; P = 0.042) and movements of arms or legs during sleep (β = 0.027; P = 0.049) showed significantly higher serum NfL levels. For prodromal PD individuals, serum NfL levels were significantly higher in individuals suffering from disturbed sleep (β = 0.038; P = 0.026). Our longitudinal findings support these baseline associations. Serum NfL levels showed an upward trend in early PD individuals who had a higher total RBDSQ score (β = 0.002; P = 0.011) or who were considered as probable RBD (β = 0.012; P = 0.009) or who exhibited behaviors on several sub-items of the RBDSQ. In addition, early PD individuals who had a high total ESS score (β = 0.001; P = 0.012) or who were regarded to have EDS (β = 0.013; P = 0.007) or who exhibited daytime sleepiness in several conditions had a trend toward higher serum NfL levels.
Conclusion: Sleep disorders correlate with higher serum NfL, suggesting a link to PD neuronal damage. Early identification of sleep disorders and NfL monitoring are pivotal in detecting at-risk PD patients promptly, allowing for timely intervention. Regular monitoring of NfL levels holds promise for tracking both sleep disorders and disease progression, potentially emerging as a biomarker for evaluating treatment outcomes.

Abstract A superior piezoelectric coefficient and diminutive lattice thermal conductivity are advantageous for the application of a two-dimensional semiconductor in piezoelectric and thermoelectric devices, whereas an imperfect piezoelectric coefficient and large lattice thermal conductivity limit the practical application of the material. In this study, we investigate how the equibiaxial strain regulates the electronic structure, and mechanical, piezoelectric, and thermal transport properties. Tensile strain can deduce the bandgap of the monolayer CrX

Abstract Chemical labeling methods for proteins are highly researched. Herein, we introduced β-carbonyl sulfonium compounds for selective cysteine modification in proteins within biological systems. Structural tuning led to sulfonium-based probes with high reactivity and selectivity. These probes show excellent biocompatibility, cell uptake, and specificity towards cysteine profiling in live cells.

Abstract Sex pheromone analogs have high structural similarity to sex pheromone components. They also play a role in studying many agricultural pests. In our study, (Z, Z, Z)-3,6,9-nonadecadiene (Z3Z6Z9-19:Hy) was successfully synthesized, which is an analogue to 1 of 2 sex pheromone components of Ectropis grisescens Warren (Z, Z, Z)-3,6,9-octadecatriene (Z3Z6Z9-18:Hy), and it showed potential inhibition in experiments. In the electroantennogram test, Z3Z6Z9-19:Hy showed a dose-dependent response, and only measured half the response of Z3Z9-6,7-epo-18:Hy. However, the compound significantly reduced positive response of E. grisescens males by up to 70% in the Y-tube olfactometer. Furthermore, in the wind tunnel, it significantly inhibited all types of behavioral responses. The percentage of moths contacting the pheromone odor source was reduced even at the lowest dose tested. In silico study afterward, molecular docking results showed affinity between Z3Z6Z9-19:Hy and sensory neuron membrane protein 1. Our study revealed the potential of Z3Z6Z9-19:Hy as a sex pheromone inhibitor, which would provide new tools for monitoring and mating disruption of E. grisescens.

Abstract Metabolic syndrome (MetS) has been a growing public health concern worldwide without specific medicine. Through summarizing the chemical structure type and effect mechanisms of natural products targeted on farnesoid X receptor (FXR), to provide the research basis for exploring the treatment of MetS. The following databases were searched for natural products which targeting FXR: PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, Wanfang Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database. Totally 120 natural products were summarized, including terpenoids (51 compounds), steroidal saponins (27 compounds), phenylpropanolds (19 compounds), flavonoids (13 compounds), alkaloids (3 compounds) and others (7 compounds), most researches focus on terpenoids and part of synthetic FXR regulators were based on the structure of terpenoids. FXR regulators could improve cholestasis and liver injury, hyperlipidemia, diabetes and atherosclerosis. FXR is a potential target of treating MetS. Natural products are characteristics with unique novel structures and special biological activity, and they are important sources of bioactive precursor compounds and drug discovery. Exploring the effects and mechanism of natural products and its derivative on MetS by targeting FXR may be a new way to develop the new drugs of treating MetS.

Abstract Recent advancements in artificial intelligence have propelled the development of shape-memory polymers (SMPs) with sophisticated, environment-sensitive capabilities. Despite the progress, most of the existing SMPs are limited to responding to a single stimulus and show poor functionality, which has severely hindered their future applications. Herein, we report a high-performance multistimuli-responsive shape-memory and self-healing composite film fabricated by embedding MXene nanosheets into a conventional shape-memory sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix. The incorporation of photothermal MXene nanosheets not only enhances the composite films' mechanical strength but also provides efficient solar-thermal conversion and robust light-actuated shape-memory properties. The resultant composite films exhibit an exceptional shape-memory response to various stimuli including heat, light, and water. Meanwhile, the interfacial interactions can be modulated by adjusting the MXene content, thereby enabling precise manipulation of the shape-memory performance. Moreover, thanks to the intrinsic hydrophilicity of the components and the unique physically cross-linked network, the composite films also demonstrate an effective water-assisted self-healing capability with an impressive healing efficiency of 85.7%. This work offers insights into the development of multifunctional, multistimuli-responsive shape-memory composites, opening up new possibilities for future applications in smart technologies.
