Abstract Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has been proven as a powerful approach for robot navigation over the past few years. DRL-based navigation does not require the pre-construction of a map, instead, high-performance navigation skills can be learned from trial-and-error experiences. However, recent DRL-based approaches mostly focus on a fixed navigation target. It is noted that when navigating to a moving target without maps, the performance of the standard RL structure drops dramatically on both the success rate and path efficiency. To address the mapless navigation problem with moving target, the predictive hierarchical DRL (pH-DRL) framework is proposed by integrating the long-term trajectory prediction to provide a cost-effective solution. In the proposed framework, the lower-level policy of the RL agent learns robot control actions to a specified goal, and the higher-level policy learns to make long-range planning of shorter navigation routes by sufficiently exploiting the predicted trajectories. By means of making decisions over two level of policies, the pH-DRL framework is robust to the unavoidable errors in long-term predictions. With the application of deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) for policy optimization, the pH-DDPG algorithm is developed based on the pH-DRL structure. Finally, through comparative experiments on the Gazebo simulator with several variants of the DDPG algorithm, the results demonstrate that the pH-DDPG outperforms other algorithms and achieves a high success rate and efficiency even though the target moves fast and randomly.

Abstract The temperature factor is an important factor affecting the intercomponent forces while maintaining the physical stability of solid-liquid mixed fuels. Through self-designed experimental equipment, feedback was provided on the fuel stratification and density distribution uniformity with solid-liquid volume ratios of 1.25:1 and 1:1 under different temperature conditions. As the viscosity of the liquid increased with decreasing temperature, the ability of the fuel to overcome particle deposition was enhanced. Although none of the three fuel ratios with a solid-liquid volume ratio of 1.25:1 showed stratification, the differences in the liquid bridging forces of the components resulted in an increasingly uneven distribution of density with increasing surface tension of the liquid components. By analyzing the imaging results and measuring the liquid bridge force, it was found that the fuel with a nitromethane mass ratio of 40% had the lowest temperature effect on the solid-liquid contact area and the most uniform density distribution. Properly reducing the surface tension of liquid components could effectively resist the influence of the temperature on the liquid bridge force while maintaining the physical stability of the fuel.

Abstract Following the global trend of carbon neutrality, green sustainable air transport becomes a hot topic in relevant area of applied energy. Electrified air transport propulsion system (EATPS) has received wide research interest since it can completely replace jet engines, exclude fossil fuel supply, and eliminate carbon emission during flight. As the core component in EATPS, electric machine raises a natural yet practical challenge of energy-efficient design (EED) and operation. This article is devoted to conducting a technical overview on EED measures of electric machines and their future potential for aviation propulsion application. While literatures have indicated some challenges and opportunities for efficient motors, there is still a lack of knowledge and a thorough picture on design considerations and specific EED measures of such motors regarding the performance demands imposed by EATPS. Holding the aim to promote future electrified propulsion and to narrow the technological knowledge gap, this study thoroughly investigates motor efficiency-related R&D items including field calculation, loss prediction, power dense design, speed range widening, advanced material application, efficient cooling strategies, etc. In the end, it provides recommendations, guidelines for designers, and prospects.

Abstract Proton batteries are competitive due to their merits such as high safety, low cost, and fast kinetics. However, it is generally difficult for current studies of proton batteries to combine high capacity and high stability, while the research on proton storage mechanism and redox behavior is still in its infancy. Herein, the polyanionic layered copper oxalate is proposed as the anode for a high-capacity proton battery for the first time. The copper oxalate allows for reversible proton insertion/extraction through the layered space but also achieves high capacity through synchronous redox reactions of Cu

Abstract Silica aerogels are attractive oil-absorbing agents due to their low density, high porosity. However, how to discharge the oil which adsorbed by silica aerogels is a difficult issue. To address this challenge, new separation strategies with high efficiency are needed. In this study, we prepared the temperature and pH dual response flexible silica aerogel have temperature response and pH response effect, which can change its wettability by adjusting temperature or pH. On the one hand, the temperature and pH responsive flexible silica aerogel can be used to adsorb water at the temperature below 34.73 °C or pH > 7. On the other hand, it can adsorb oil at a temperature above 34.73 °C or pH < 7. The automatic desorption of oil can be achieved without consuming additional energy and damaging the pore structure. Therefore, the sample could continuously adsorb and filtrate efficiently and realize the recovery of oil and adsorption materials.

Abstract We report the application and results of skin defect coverage using the free lateral great toe flap in revision surgery for residual postoperative deformities in Wassel-Flatt type IV-D thumb duplications. This retrospective study included five patients treated between June 2020 and September 2021 to correct angular deformity and repair the secondary skin defect. All the flaps survived. The patients were followed up for 8-12 months and all the reconstructed thumbs had a satisfactory appearance. The results of the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand scoring system were excellent in one patient, good in three patients and fair in one patient. The results of the Alignment, Ulnar and Radial stability, Range of motion and Aesthetical aspects (ALURRA) scoring system were good in four patients and moderate in one patient.
