Abstract: ... receptivity and Pregnancy Outcome based on the theory of "Chong channel being sea of blood," we will conduct ... acupuncture and moxibustion therapy based on the "Chong channel being sea of blood" theory) or ... on the "Chong Channel Being Sea of Blood" Theory in IVF.: Trial registration: http://www.chictr.org.cn/edit ...

Abstract Introduction: Acupuncture and moxibustion has become a commonly used adjuvant treatment method to improve the success rate of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET). However, There is still insufficient evidence that acupuncture treatment can improve the local microenvironment of endometrium, the endometrial receptivity, and the pregnancy outcome of patients, which is worthy of further study.
Method/design: To investigate the effect of Stage by Stage Acupuncture and Moxibustion Therapy on endometrial receptivity and Pregnancy Outcome based on the theory of "Chong channel being sea of blood," we will conduct a multicenter randomized controlled trial. Inclusion criteria are as follows: infertile women under 45 years of age who received IVF-ET or Intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles. The study will only be applied to women who have failed repeated implantation, that is, women who have failed 3 or more embryo transplants in the past (existing frozen embryos do not require the retrieval of eggs). Those who are not prepared to receive IVF-ET or are at risk of pregnancy, have a serious medical condition, or are egg donors will be excluded. Subjects will be randomly assigned to either the acupuncture group (IVF-ET plus stage-by-stage acupuncture and moxibustion therapy based on the "Chong channel being sea of blood" theory) or the control group (IVF-ET only). The trial required a total sample size of 246 women to compare endometrial receptivity between the 2 groups. The acupuncture group will receive acupuncture and moxibustion treatment 3 times a week starting from the third day of menstruation in the ovary stimulation cycle. One menstrual cycle was one course of treatment, and a total of 3 menstrual cycles were treated. The main outcome indicator was clinical pregnancy rate. Secondary outcome indicators were the three-dimensional volume blood flow parameters (vascularization index, flow index, and vascularization flow index) of the endometrium, endometrial thickness, endometrial volume, uterine artery PI, RI, and S/D during the "implantation window period" (20-24 days after menstruation in the ovary stimulation cycle).
Discussion: This study will provide important evidence for the use of Stage by Stage Acupuncture and Moxibustion Therapy Based on the "Chong Channel Being Sea of Blood" Theory in IVF.

Abstract Objective: To investigate the use of reproductive healthcare services among migrant women workers in Chong Qing, China, and provide suggestions to improve the utilization of these services by young women.
Methods: In a qualitative interview-based study between March, 2013 and June, 2013, personal in-depth interviews were conducted among young women workers, factory doctors, healthcare service providers, and policy-makers in Chong Qing, China.
Results: Women workers seldom visited hospitals and did so only when their pain became unbearable. The workers' use of reproductive healthcare services was particularly influenced by the high cost of hospitalization and long waiting periods. Factory doctors could only solve minor problems. Public healthcare providers stated that migrant women had a higher morbidity rate from reproductive tract infections as compared with local women. The policy-makers considered that the health system was beneficial to women's reproductive health; however, few workers had good comprehension of government policies.
Conclusion: Migrant women workers are vulnerable owing to lack of reproductive health care. The government and both social and health enterprise should consider the convenience of these women and the affordability of treatments when formulating reproductive healthcare policies. Effective measures should be taken to improve the use of these services by migrant women workers.

Abstract Objective: To probe clinical application value of the Chong Vessel.
Methods: Analyze characteristics of running of the Chong Vessel based on running and distribution of the Chong Vessel in ancient literatures, and summarize indication rule of the Chong Vessel from the function of the Chong Vessel in the human body and the indications of the Chong Vessel, further probe into relation between the Chong Vessel and function of the human endocrine system.
Conclusion: Acupuncture-moxibustion therapy can exert the action, which can not be attained by drugs, on the diseases and syndromes induced by endocrine imbalance, such as climacteric syndrome and the diseases and syndromes caused by deficiency of both qi and blood in the aged.

Abstract: Chong-Myung-Tang (CMT) is a multi-herbal formula that has been used to improve memory ...

Abstract Chong-Myung-Tang (CMT) is a multi-herbal formula that has been used to improve memory. However, the potential mechanism remains unknown. The present study investigated the effects of CMT (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) on spatial memory of aged mice. The behavioral training tests indicated that 200 mg/kg CMT treatment can significantly improve spatial memory of aged mice in the Morris water maze. Moreover, cell survival was examined by injecting bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) on the first three days. The result showed that 200 mg/kg CMT treatment significantly increased cell survival in the dentate gyrus. Cell proliferation was determined by injecting BrdU 2 h before the mice were killed. The result suggested that CMT treatments had no influence on cell proliferation in the dentate gyrus. Thus, an increase in cell survival in the dentate gyrus stimulated by CMT may be involved in the effect of CMT on spatial memory improvement.

Abstract Context: Da-Huang-Zhe-Chong pill (DHZCP), a classical traditional Chinese formula, consists of 12 crude drugs which have been widely used with significant therapeutic effects. Some drugs in this formula have toxicities that might result in some adverse effects of DHZCP.
Objective: The liver protection and toxicity of DHZCP were first evaluated against chronic carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4))-induced liver injury in rats.
Materials and methods: The rats were treated by intraperitoneal injection of 10% CCl(4) for 12 weeks. At the end of week 4, DHZCP at doses of 44 g/kg (high-dose group) and 22 g/kg (low-dose group) was intragastrically administered to CCl(4)-treated rats, once a day for four weeks. At the end of weeks 8 and 12, the general status of the rats, histopathology of liver, serum alanine aminotransaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and total bilirubin (TBIL) levels were observed or determined and recorded. By correspondence analysis (CA) on biochemical markers and liver histopathological score (HS), the "dose-time-response" relationship of DHZCP on the hepatic injury rats was evaluated.
Results: The results showed that DHZCP exhibited a significant protective effect on liver injury by reversing the biochemical parameters and histopathological changes. However, this hepatoprotective effect may be weakened, or even be transferred to toxicity with the increase of the administration dose (44 g·kg(-1)·d(-1)) and time (more than 2 months) of this formula. These results were consistent with the histopathological observation and the serum levels.
Discussion and conclusion: Administration of proper dose and time of DHZCP could well play its hepatoprotective effect and even treat hepatitis, but the safety on liver should be considered when large-dose (44 g·kg(-1)·d(-1)) DHZCP is used for long time (more than 2 months). We suggest that the administration dose and time of DHZCP in clinical use should not be increased and prolonged, and simultaneously liver function should be regularly monitored.
