Abstract Various experiments about obedience and disobedience to authority have been taken place in the past decades. However, it is a brand new task for academics where genders and types of authorities are on cross analysis. Are female more likely to obey to educated professionals or severe dominators? Will genders affect people’s attitudes to the governors? In this work, an experiment is designed based on Milgram’s original experiment of obedience, in order to answer the answers previously mentioned. Different reactions from different genders will be tested when they are facing prestige or dominance authorities separately. The method of testing level of obedience is altered from the original electric shock experiment taken by Milgram to a new method of using hot sauce to measure participants’ obedience to authorities. The hypothesis in existence suggested that females will show a higher level of obedience to dominance authorities rather than prestige authorities, and their obedience to dominant authorities will be relatively high comparing to males, while males will show a higher level of obedience to prestige authorities than dominant authorities, and showing relatively high obedience to prestigious authorities. This work aims to show a new way to understand gender difference in behaviors, and wish to open a gate of behaviour study and gender cognition study.

Abstract Cilia are highly conserved eukaryotic organelles that protrude from the cell surface and are involved in sensory perception, motility, and signaling. Their proper assembly and function rely on the bidirectional intraflagellar transport (IFT) system, which involves motor proteins, including antegrade kinesins and retrograde dynein. Although the role of IFT-mediated transport in cilia has been extensively studied, recent research has highlighted the contribution of IFT-independent kinesins in ciliary processes. The coordinated activities and interplay between IFT kinesins and IFT-independent kinesins are crucial for maintaining ciliary homeostasis. In this comprehensive review, we aim to delve into the specific contributions and mechanisms of action of the IFT-independent kinesins in cilia. By shedding light on their involvement, we hope to gain a more holistic perspective on ciliogenesis and ciliopathies.

Abstract Dry eye disease (DED), primarily classified as multifactorial ocular surface disorder, afflicts tens of millions of individuals worldwide, adversely impacting their quality of life. Extensive research has been conducted on tear film analysis over the past decades, offering a range of tests to evaluate its volume, health, and integrity. Yet, early diagnosis and effective treatment for DED continue to pose significant challenges in clinical settings. Nevertheless, by recognizing key phenomena in DED such as ocular surface inflammation, hyperosmolarity, and tear film instability, this article provides a comprehensive overview of both traditional and recently developed methods for diagnosing and monitoring DED. The information serves as a valuable resource not only for clinical diagnosis but also for further research into DED.

Abstract Background: Non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by bronchial dilation. However, the significance of elevated eosinophil counts in acute exacerbations of bronchiectasis remains unclear.
Methods: This retrospective case-control study included 169 hospitalized patients with acute exacerbations of non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. Based on blood eosinophil levels, patients were categorized into eosinophilic and non-eosinophilic bronchiectasis groups. Various clinical variables, including lung function, comorbidities and clinical features were collected for analysis. The study aimed to examine the differences between these groups and their clinical phenotypes.
Results: Eosinophilic bronchiectasis (EB) was present in approximately 22% of all hospitalized patients with bronchiectasis, and it was more prevalent among male smokers (P < 0.01). EB exhibited greater severity of bronchiectasis, including worse airway obstruction, higher scores in the E-FACED (FACED combined with exacerbations) and bronchiectasis severity index (BSI), a high glucocorticoids medication possession ratio, and increased hospitalization cost (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Furthermore, we observed a significant positive correlation between blood eosinophil count and both sputum eosinophils (r = 0.49, P < 0.01) and serum total immunoglobulin E levels (r = 0.21, P < 0.05). Additional analysis revealed that patients with EB had a higher frequency of shortness of breath (P < 0.05), were more likely to have comorbid sinusitis (P < 0.01), and exhibited a greater number of lung segments affected by bronchiectasis (P < 0.01).
Conclusions: These findings suggest that EB presents a distinct pattern of bronchiectasis features, confirming the notion that it is a specific phenotype.

Abstract "Internet + Nursing" refers to medical institutions using Internet technologies and big data to provide nursing services to discharged patients or those with severe illnesses unable to visit hospitals, through online applications and offline care provision. This study aimed to explore the influence of "Internet + Nursing" on the psychological status and quality of life of patients with thyroid eye disease. Sixty-eight patients with thyroid eye disease from January 2021 to December 2022 were divided into a research group (n = 34, joined the platform) and control group (n = 34, not joined the platform) based on their voluntary participation in our hospital's "Internet + Nursing Platform." The self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores of the research group were lower than those of the control group (P < .05). The short form-36 health survey (SF-36) scores in various dimensions were higher in the research group compared to the control group (P < .05). The incidence rates of retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, diabetic retinopathy, and iris neovascularization were lower in the research group compared to the control group (P < .05). After nursing, exophthalmos, blink frequency, and eyelid height of the research group were lower than those of the control group, while tear film breakup time was higher than that of the control group (P < .05). The visual acuity of the research group was higher than that of the control group (P < .05). After nursing, the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire 25 (NEI-VFQ-25) scores in various dimensions were significantly higher in the research group than those in the control group (P < .05). Additionally, after nursing, the levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the research group were lower than those in the control group (P < .05). The patients in the research group exhibited higher recognition scores of nursing compared to those in the control group (P < .05). Through the implementation of "Internet + Nursing" for patients with thyroid eye disease discharged from our hospital, we can provide better out-of-hospital nursing for patients, reduce the occurrence of complications, improve ocular surface symptoms, promote visual acuity recovery, and improve patients' psychological status and quality of life.

Abstract This paper introduces a new type of gypsum-based humidity-control material. The material combines gypsum-silica gel humidity-control material with 20% sepiolite powder activated by calcium chloride. Both experimental and simulation studies were conducted to assess its humidity-control performance. The experimental results indicate that gypsum-based humidity-control material has the property of absorbing moisture in high-humidity environments and releasing moisture in low-humidity environments. Moreover, both environmental temperature and relative humidity (RH) have an impact on the material's humidity-control performance. At a relative humidity of 97.4%, the maximum equilibrium moisture content of the material is 0.225 g/g, which is 1.4 times that of the gypsum-silica gel humidity-control material and 4.5 times that of pure gypsum material. The simulation results indicate that gypsum-based humidity-control material effectively mitigates indoor relative humidity fluctuations and maintains indoor air relative humidity within a narrow range. Furthermore, the material has the potential to reduce building energy consumption. This is especially evident under climate conditions with large temperature and relative humidity differences between day and night, such as in Beijing, Paris, and Atlanta. The maximum potential energy-saving rate in Beijing can reach up to 19.31%.

Abstract Objective: To review the concept and methods of femoral bone tunnel positioning in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, in order to provide a reference for clinical treatment.
Methods: The relevant literature on the concept and methods of femoral bone tunnel positioning in ACL reconstruction in domestic and international research was extensively reviewed.
Results: The position of the femoral bone tunnel is a key factor in determining the prognosis of ACL reconstruction. The concept of femoral bone tunnel positioning in ACL reconstruction has experienced isometric reconstruction, anatomical reconstruction, Ribbon-like theory, I.D.E.A.L. theory, and nearly isometric reconstruction theory. The femoral bone tunnel positioning technique is also changing with the in-depth study of the anatomy and biomechanics of the ACL, and each bone tunnel positioning technique has its own advantages and disadvantages. Over-The-Top technique is now mainly used for ACL revision; the clock-face positioning method is basically no longer applicable due to the large error, poor stability, and low retrievability; the bone landmarks positioning method (the lateral condyle of the femur's Resident's ridge and bifurcation ridge, and the the apex of the deep cartilage), which is now mostly used clinically due to the more constant anatomical landmarks. The quadrant method under X-ray fluoroscopy is more cumbersome to implement intraoperatively, so it is mainly used for academic research; computer navigation-assisted positioning has gradually become popular in recent years, which is highly accurate, avoids the influence of human factors on the positioning of the bone tunnel, and has a very good prospect of application; three-dimensional printing-assisted positioning technology, which is accurate in positioning, with a high degree of reproducibility and a short learning curve.
Conclusion: The concept of femoral bone tunnel positioning for ACL reconstruction has undergone several evolutions, reflecting the deepening of the understanding of ACL and the improvement of the clinical results of reconstruction. The precision, personalization, and intelligence of positioning techniques are the focus of current and future development.
